The Russian armed forces have conducted a series of exercises over the past month, including in regions bordering Ukraine. The maneuvers come amid growing tensions between Russia and NATO and reports of a possible Russian invasion of Ukraine. So, on January 11, Russian exercises began in the Smolensk, Belgorod, Bryansk and Voronezh regions. About 3,000 military personnel and 300 units of military equipment, including BMP-2 infantry fighting vehicles and T-72B3 tanks, are participating in them.

To conduct major exercises, together with the Belarusian military, personnel and military equipment from the Eastern military district. The exercises are called “Allied Resolve.” At their first stage, until February 9, it is planned to redeploy and create groupings of troops on the territory of Belarus, organize the protection and defense of important facilities, protect the state border in the airspace, check the readiness of the air defense forces on duty. At the second stage, from February 10 to 20, the troops they will begin operations at the training grounds.

The fleet is also involved in the exercises. In the Baltic, 20 ships take part in them, the day before they left their permanent bases.
