The UN urged not to punish Marina Ovsyannikova for the poster

The office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights issued an appeal not to punish Marina Ovsyannikova, who ran into the studio of the First channel” with a poster during the broadcast. The United Nations expressed the view that the employee used the right to freedom of speech and should not “face reprisals”; for expressing his own opinion.

Before the incident, on the fact of which a case was initiated under Part 2 of Art. 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (organization of an unapproved public event) Ovsyannikova recorded a video in which she said that her father was Ukrainian, and her mother – Russian. She also put on a necklace in the colors of the Russian and Ukrainian flags.
