The inauguration of the new President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov turned out to be modest

A large-scale community work day awaits the country

On Saturday, exactly two weeks after the early elections in Turkmenistan, the new head of the country, the son of Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Serdar, took office. The inauguration took place in the white marble Ruhyet Palace, which means “Spirituality”.

According to the Central Election Commission of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov won 72.97% of the vote with a 97% turnout. I must say that his father at one time gained 20% more in the elections. That's why he's the head of the family. Now all the inhabitants of the republic have a question: how much independent policy will Serdar pursue.

So far, nothing says that the heir is ready to completely replace his father in the political arena. In his campaign promises, he emphasized that he was ready to continue the economic and political reforms initiated by Berdymukhammedov. Among these reforms are the improvement of public administration, the modernization of the public and private sectors, and the fight against unemployment. In addition, Gurbanguly does not retire: he remains the chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty (upper house of parliament) of the country. That is, he will always be able to “help and guide” the new president. And according to people who know Serdar, he is completely obedient to his father. True, this was before the heir became the first person of the state. Perhaps, over time, he will get a taste and show himself. But in any case, there will be no cardinal change of course in the country …

The inauguration of the new president itself was very modest: Serdar took an oath in front of the two chambers of the Halk Maslakhaty, members of the government and the Security Council, heads of state structures and diplomats. Serdar uttered the words of the oath, placing one hand on the Constitution, the other on the Holy Quran. After that, he was presented with a presidential certificate. And tomorrow the country is waiting for a large-scale community work day, timed to coincide with the inauguration of Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the beginning of the Novruz spring holiday. 3 million seedlings of various trees will be planted throughout the country.
