A 17-year-old boy has died after being stabbed outside a birthday party in Far North Queensland, police say.
The boy, from Mooroobool, died in the Cairns hospital after he was taken there in a private car.
Another boy, 17, also presented at the hospital and was treated for stab wounds.
The boy who died had left the party before police arrived.
Police said in a statement that they were called to a disturbance on the street outside a birthday party at Lychee Close in Manoora at 1am Saturday.
No one has yet been charged over the stabbings and police are appealing for information from witnesses.
A man, 18, allegedly punched a police officer during the disturbance, and is due to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on January 18.
Another man, 28, has been charged with contravening a direction and obstructing police and a 17-year-old boy was also charged with obstructing police.
