A woman is accusing artist Trey Songz of hit-and-run in which she says he hit her car, leaving her suffering an injury to her hand before driving off.
The woman has reported the incident to the police, which has been confirmed by police according to Celebrity news site TMZ.
According to the police, what appeared to be an incident of road rage went a little too far as the “Na Na” singer and the woman were involved in an argument while they were sitting in their respective cars. The incident occurred around midnight on Thursday, police say.
The argument reportedly escalated, and the woman alleges that Trey Songz used his car to bump into the woman’s car. At this point, she gets out of her car to confront him, but she says he then speeds off, hitting her hand in the process.
She then reported the matter to the police who took a report. However, the artist had already left the scene of the accident.
Meanwhile, the artist has denied the allegations TMZ reported.
This latest incident is just one of a few incidents showing the artist having an uncontrollable anger problem. He’s presently facing a lawsuit for allegedly punching a bartender who was working at a Cardi B concert in 2019. Songz allegedly stood on the bar but became enraged after he was moved off, hitting the bartender in the head.
He also recently narrowly escaped charges after an altercation at a Kansas City playoff game with a police officer. That incident stemmed from the artist refusing to wear a mask.
50 Cent already making his presence felt in Texas after moving from the Tri-State area.
50 Cent seems to be fitting in well with his new home state, having finally decided to cut the cord on New York and moving to Texas. A week after making the announcement, the hip hop legend and movie producer shared his latest achievement on Saturday, a win in the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, where his Le Chemin du Roi champagne was named Grand Champion in the International Wine Competition.
The artist shared his excitement with ABC 13 news. “When they told me I won, I almost fainted. I was really excited,” 50 said. “I am very proud of this.”
Two couples, Demetra and Frank Jones and Leticia and Stephen Trauber, jointly purchased the rapper’s wine for $160,000. He shared the details on his Instagram official account, which included a true Texas-style trophy- a large saddle with Reverse Grand Champion Best Of Show 2021 etched on the side near the Rodeo Houston logo.
The rapper said, “They told me everybody who’s somebody in Houston is at the @rodeohouston,” he wrote. “I won reserve grand champion best in show. #lecheminduroi.”

The rapper also shared his experience getting accustomed to the culture of his new home after he lost out on a bid for a wine. “Man there are some people in Texas that got a lot of money,” he wrote. “I bid $175,000 for a bottle of wine and i still lost.”
The rapper recently moved to Texas and shared over the past week that he is now a resident of Houston. He said he would explain to his fans later about his move, but his signal “#greenlightgang” is definitely a hint as to the real purpose of the artist’s move, as we know has everything to do with his latest contract with Starz for Black Mafia Family production.
In celebration of his twelfth studio album Khaled Khaled, Jay-Z has gifted DJ Khaled a limited edition bottle of D’ussé cognac. Khaled showed off the gift in a video on his Instagram page this morning (May 8).
In the video captioned, “Thank you JAY-Z @rocnation @dussecognac,” Khaled says, “Big up my brother Jay-Z, he just sent me a good beautiful gift. It says enjoy this one of a kind D’ussé 1969 Anniversary Limited Edition bottle of cognac – from JAY.”
He continues, “this is beautiful, look at the packaging. Look at this, that’s one thing about Jay-Z, he’s gonna do it right. He gone do it iconic. He gone do it classy. He gone do it like timeless.”
He further commented on the high quality of the gift while thanking his recent collaborator. D’ussé is a French-made cognac and a subsidiary of the Bacardi brand, which Jay-Z is part owner.

Earlier this month, Jay-Z also gifted Lebron James his own limited edition bottle. Lebron posted a video of the gift on his Instagram page while thanking the rapper.
D’ussé cognac special edition bottles are worth thousands of dollars. A signed bottle of the 1969 Anniversaire edition reportedly sold for $52,000 at a Sotheby’s auction back in March.
DJ Khaled’s album has already been racking up numbers on all major platforms. In the first week of its release, the album secured 95,000 album equivalent sales. It is expected to debut at number 1 atop the Billboard 200 chart.
“Khaled Khaled” features 29 rappers and singers on 13 songs. The featured acts include Jay-Z, Justin Timberlake, and Nas. Several Dancehall acts such as Bounty Killer, Beenie Man, and Buju Banton are also featured.
Several of the album’s music videos were filmed on location in Jamaica. Khaled has so far released six music videos while promising that more are on the way.
Lil Uzi Vert and JT only recently went public with their romance, but the rappers are now ready to flaunt their relationship with a sexy photoshoot.
Posing for a new magazine cover, the couple appeared on Arena Homme+ in their underwear. The picture shows JT lovingly stroking Uzi’s chest and stomach as she gazes up at him with adoration. Lil Uzi Vert, on the other hand, wears a digitally enhanced diamond on his forehead and a look of vague confusion. While the picture was a big step for their relationship, the cover seems to have inspired more questions than congratulations.
The first and most obvious detail of the photograph that has fans confused is the unrealistic height difference between Uzi and JT. Uzi is known to be fairly short, maybe only a few inches taller than JT. However, the photo makes him out to be at least a foot taller than his girlfriend. Fans spotted the difference immediately, posting the glaring question, “What they got him standing on?”
Other people were too distracted by Uzi’s face to notice the height debacle. He does appear to have a dumbfounded expression and his face almost seems out of place entirely. “Why it look like they photo shopped his head on his body,” asked one person. “He couldn’t make another face,” remarked another.
View this post on Instagram
The somewhat odd picture was not the only published photo from the Homme+ shoot, however. The fashion magazine also featured a closeup of Uzi, a rapper who has earned his title as a hip hop fashion icon.
It is not uncommon for rappers to receive criticism when they venture into the world of high fashion, and this may just be another instance of a visual aesthetic flying over the heads of some music fans. Either way, JT and Uzi seem to be lucky in love and there is nothing wrong with showing off their good fortune.

Pop Smoke’s murder case preliminary hearing reveals gruesome details of the New York rapper’s murder last year.
It has been over a year since rapper Pop Smoke was murdered, but the public is just now discovering new details surrounding the home invasion that ended his life. On Thursday, May 6th, a preliminary hearing was held in Los Angeles during which witnesses were called to testify.
According to the New York Daily News, Detective Christian Carrasco of the LAPD took the stand to explain the sequence of events that occurred in Hollywood Hills on February 19th, 2020. Carrasco said that Pop Smoke was taking a shower in his rental home when masked intruders entered through a balcony door. A woman in Smoke’s room was then held at gunpoint by one of the suspects while another entered the bathroom.
According to the police report, the woman was told to “Shut the f**k up,” and asked, “Do you want to die?”
Corey Walker, one of the individuals being charged with Pop Smoke’s murder, was present at the hearing. He pleaded not guilty at the preliminary trial before hearing the details of those charges as told by the woman present for the murder.
Carrasco continued to recount the woman’s story, saying, “She heard a struggle coming from the shower area and heard Mr. Jackson screaming. Mr. Jackson ran out of the bathroom and then she heard a loud pop and [heard] Mr. Jackson fall to the ground.” Carrasco added, “Two other individuals began to kick him.” Upon hearing this graphic detail, Pop Smoke’s mother appeared even further stricken with grief.
It seems Pop Smoke did not go down without a fight. According to the testimony, he continued to fight his attackers and made it all the way downstairs before his woman companion heard “two more pops”.
The intruders, one adult and three minors, stole jewelry before leaving the premises. Walker, the only adult being charged in the crime, will face a different legal process than his juvenile co-conspirators and is likely to face harsher sentencing.
Then there’s also the case of a 15-year-old who detectives say admitted to his cellmates that he killed Pop Smoke.
It’s been a minute since fans heard anything new from rapper Nicki Minaj, but now she has a number one single.
Of course, she featured on a few tracks in 2019 and 2020 as a guest, but she hasn’t dropped a solo effort since her last studio album, Queen, in 2018. That’s primarily because she’s in sort of a pre-retirement phase, having said that she’s taking time to focus on her family and raising her newborn son with her husband, Kenneth Petty.
That isn’t stopping her ascendency on the charts, though. Even though she’s basically out of the game somehow, she’s still scoring hits. Thursday night, May 7, Nicki Minaj hit single “LLC” was given a sudden push by her loyal fans, aka the Barbz. The love from her fans has pushed “LLC” into the Top 30 on US iTunes for the first time.
According to social media page, Rap God, “LLC” becomes Nicki Minaj’s best performing single Globally in 2021 in just 8 hours.”

The Barbz made it their priority to try and encourage their leader to put out new music. So they got together and launched the “LLC Party” on Twitter. Soon after, the initiative “LLC Party” became the No. 1 trending topic in the United States and worldwide with over 133,000 tweets. Even Doja Cat encouraged the Brabz by telling them to stream the song on her Instagram Story.
The track also entered the Top 40 of the iTunes US Chart for the first time since its release some three years ago. Her fans could also be responding to Joe Budden’s call for her not to release music right now. In other words, Joe Budden thinks that Nicki Minaj should extend her hiatus from music. He made the statements during an episode of The Joe Budden Podcast where he, Mal, and Rory were discussing whether DJ Khaled’s Khaled Khaled was a hit or miss.
“Did you not just hear everything we said about Khaled dropping during COVID,” Budden asked Mal. “You want Nicki to drop right now? Nicki, I love you, I wish you and your family well, and that’s what I got.” It seems the fans have spoken, and they are patiently awaiting Nicki’s new music, if it’s even in the works.

Shaggy breaks down why artists should bridge language barrier for global success.
Jamaican accent has always been considered endearing. In fact, it’s often considered one of the sexiest and coolest in various social media polls. However, Grammy Award-winning dancehall artist Shaggy has advised that if you are trying to connect with fans in broader audiences, then it’s best to use standard English.
Shaggy, real name, Orville ‘Shaggy’ Burrell, was speaking at ‘Lets Connect with Ambassador Marks.’ During the monthly chat series hosted on social media by Audrey Marks, Jamaica’s ambassador to the United States, he used his own life experiences on the world stage to elaborate his point. He was speaking specifically to Jamaican musicians and he asked them to think carefully about the image they portray. He revealed an experience he had with Maxi Priest to drive his point home.
“When I went on tour with Maxi Priest in 1992, he took me to Brazil … Me as the little youth dem time deh in the background, and they asked him a question, and he said ‘Shaggy, you answer that.’ Me start seh ‘Well yuh want see seh everything kinda good inna the baseline and me deh yah a hold a vibe.’ He was there saying ‘English, English’,” Shaggy said.
He admitted that at first he was confused about why he was asked to speak standard English but he was later made to understand that the interview would show on MTV, which was a unique opportunity to connect with a much larger audience. They probably would not have understood what he was trying to say.
He added that Maxi Priest asked why he wouldn’t want to speak clearly for everyone tuning in to understand what he was saying. Added to this, if a musician intends to take his career to the next level, fans from all over should be able to understand what he or she is saying.
He also shared an experience that he had with the late King of Pop, Micheal Jackson.
“I was in a room with him and It Wasn’t Me was his favourite. He started asking me where I wrote it, and this guy was reading my credits. Then he asked me about another song called Keeping it Real. I was trying to learn about this guy, The King of Pop, and I couldn’t get a word in because he wanted to know so much about me. This is a person where, at that time, I was the hottest thing in the world, and as big as he is, he’s like ‘I want to know all about this guy because he is now my competition,’” Shaggy said.
The “Angel” singer added that this was the approach taken by most of the top 10 persons on the Top 100 charts who he sees as his competition. All of these artists who are constantly in demand adopt the same approach, he added.
“I implore everybody, every artiste, to emulate people before you who are better at it, and figure ways you are to get around it. It’s cool to have a little bit of the swag a gwane, but if you take it too far, how you going to reach them. You need to have a balance,” he added.
Kodak Black and Pooh Shiesty beef is official over.
The Florida rapper has a list of people that he’s called out for allegedly stealing his swag. More notable on the list of names on his theft list is Pooh Shiesty, who he said took his money-spreading trend on Instagram. As rappers do, the two began feuding, but it soon ended after Pooh revealed that Kodak was one of his favorite rappers during his Rise & Grind interview with HNHH.
This was enough to calm the storm of words, and soon the two seemed to be at peace with each other. Many times, a truce like this can be short-lived, but it looks like in this case, the peace is real between the two rappers. Last night, May 6, they officially advertised their peaceful understanding to the world after posing for pictures on social media.
The moment came during one of Kodak Black‘s associates’ live streams. The “Tunnel Vision” rapper caught up to Pooh Shiesty and showed real enthusiasm that he showed up in Miami. He began to excitedly call out their sets on camera. It was as if two old friends had met up after not seeing each other for some time. You couldn’t guess that just a few weeks ago, they had beef. Fans, even though happy to see them getting along, were admittedly a bit confused as well.
Some fans began questioning their motives as their beef was quite public when it went down recently. Some even began to ask other viewers on the live session what was going on, wondering if they had missed something over the last few weeks. While it’s great that they are now getting along, fans are still giving it some more time to see how long their peace lasts.

After years of hitmaking and trendsetting, Nicki Minaj decided to take a well-earned break from her explosive career to spend time with her new husband and baby boy. Since her conspicuous absence from music, fans have continuously expressed their eagerness for new material. However, not everyone agrees that it is the right time for the Barbz to return to the rap game.
On a recent episode of The Joe Budden Podcast, Joe, Rory, and Mal debated about Nicki’s return to the scene after reviewing DJ Khaled’s newly dropped project, Khaled Khaled.
Confident that the world is ready for a Nicki Minaj comeback, Mal declared, “It’s time. It’s time for a Nicki album.” Joe Budden was clearly surprised by Mal’s opinion, replying, “Did you not just hear everything we said about Khaled dropping during COVID? You want Nicki to drop right now?”
Clarifying that his opinion doesn’t necessarily reflect poorly on Nicki, Joe added, “Nicki, I love you, I wish you and your family well, and that’s what I got.” It seems Budden thinks that dropping an album right now is a poor business decision, but Minaj fans are likely to disagree.
Many people in the hip hop world have been discussing Nicki Minaj’s place in music recently, particularly since critics and influencers have a hard time not pitting female rappers against each other. Since we are beginning to see increasingly more women rappers have just as much success as their male counterparts, fans and industry commentators are also more tempted to rank and categorize the ladies of rap instead of seeing them as the dynamic and multi-faceted forces that they are.
However, rapper Russ recently took to Twitter to make a strong point about the timing of Nicki Minaj’s career, saying, “Imagine if TikTok was out during Nicki Minaj blowin up era…numbers woulda been astronomical lmao. Did it on em, only, anaconda, twerk it, FEELING MYSELF Man, soooo many like bruh lmao sh*t was already outta here but that woulda been insane lol.”
It’s true that Nicki has some of the most memorable and highly animated rap songs of the last couple decades, so it is easy to imagine the endless TikTok dances she would have inspired. But of course, it is never too late to make a Nicki Minaj track go viral on TikTok!

The U.S. Attorney for the District of Massachusetts has filed another charge against G Herbo as his fraud case gets underway.
G Herbo, whose real name is Herbert Wright III, has been charged for lying and failing to notify authorities that he is familiar with one of his co-defendants in the ongoing fraud case. Herbo allegedly lied to a federal agent while he was being interviewed.
According to the authorities, Herbert Wright III, also known as Herbo, Lil Herb and G Herbo-(his most common rap moniker), and ‘Herbert Light,’ “knowingly and willfully made the following materially false, fictitious and fraudulent statements and representations in a matter within the jurisdiction of the executive branch of the Government of the United States, that is, during a voluntary interview with a special agent of the United States Secret Service and a special agent of the (FBI),” the document reads, according to The Shade Room.
The co-defendant in question is Antonio Strong, who is a known friend and business associate of G Herbo. The charges read that G Herbo did not tell the federal agent interviewing him that he gave Strong money nor that he received anything of value from him, and he also denied a direct connection to Strong.
The FBI alleges that G Herbo and Strong have been friends since 2016, and the two shared a close relationship with frequent contact. It is also alleged that he gave Strong money and received “private jet charters, luxury accommodations, and exotic car rentals” from him in exchange.
Now, the authorities are moving to connect the current charge against Herbo to the original fraud case. There should be no issues with doing this, as Herbo had signed an earlier document approving this. It’s unclear what his defense position is regarding the new charge.
The rapper is slated to return to court as he answers to the charges, which alleged that he is part of a multimillion fraud ring that used stolen credit card information to pay for luxury items, including a lavish vacation to Jamaica last year. His ex-girlfriend Ari Fletcher is reportedly a prosecution witness in the case.
DJ Envy and his wife Gia, along with their extended family, have been plunged into mourning following the death of Gia’s mother, Norma Grante.
DJ Envy announced the sad news on Wednesday (May 5) in a social media post. While the DJ and radio host did not reveal Grante’s cause of death, the sadness in his Instagram post could be felt by fans and followers, who flooded the comment section with condolences to the family.
DJ Envy shared three photos, each displaying a young and pleasant version of his mother-in-law. In the first photo, she clenches her son-in-law’s arm. In the second, they embrace each other in a simple pose, and the final photo displays his wife as a young child and Grante as a younger woman.
“This is extremely difficult for me to write,” he said in the caption.
The DJ also questioned, “How do you tell your wife that everything is going to be alright, when her best friend is no longer here….?”
Envy, whose real name is RaaShaun Casey, noted how he received the sad news and recalled how supportive his mother-in-law law was when he chose his career as a DJ.
“We were supposed to be on an island right now but just hours before we boarded, we got the worst call imaginable….I tell the story all the time about me choosing ‘Dj’ing as my career…. everybody laughed and thought I was crazy, but not Gia’s mom….Norma said, ‘Do what makes you happy & f*** everybody else. If there’s anything you need, just come to me,’” he recalled.

He continued by announcing, “Yesterday, (May 4) Norma Grante passed away…She was loving, ever supportive and such a major part of our lives and my career….I Miss You And Will Always Love You.”
The DJ’s wife, Gia Casey, has not yet said anything regarding her mother’s death. However, since her husband’s announcement, fans took to her page to comment below her latest posts, offering condolences, prayers, and heartfelt tributes.
50 Cent shared a photo of himself in Juvenile Detention when he was 15 years old while alluding to his troubled past.
The rap icon is among one of the most successful rappers turned businessmen in the music industry, and his artistic ability is just beginning as his creative genius as a television producer shows how multitalented he is.
50 Cent‘s journey, though, has not been without its challenges that are not exactly unique to him as an African American man. The rapper delved into the past as he shared an earlier memory as a teenager when he was in a Juvenile Detention Center.
The “Get Rich or Die Tryin’” rapper posted a throwback photo of himself at a juvenile detention center when he was just 15 years old.
In the caption, 50 Cent reflected on the harsh childhood he experienced growing up in South Jamaica, Queens, New York, a neighborhood that is plagued by gang violence and drug dealing that led to his earlier decisions in life. He also paid tribute to his late grandmother, who was there for him.
“Yo i was 15 in this picture,” he wrote. “on the South Side you have to grow up faster. I made a lot of mistakes I was already in juvie, I remember my Nana coming to see me, she is my angel. she love me unconditionally.”

The rapper has spoken about his past many times, even as he is now an inspiration for many people. His life was one characterized by hardship. He was raised by his mother, a drug dealer who later died in a fire while he was 8 years old. He was then raised by his grandmother and began boxing at a neighborhood gym at 11 years old. But his life wasn’t as simple as it sounded. At 12 years old, he was selling crack cocaine even as his grandparents thought he was in after-school programs.
While that became a constant part of his life, he was also his grandmother’s “baby” as he once said when talking about toughing it out in the streets at his age but being loved by his grandmother. In 2015, he spoke about living with his grandmother – “I was outside hustling but I still had to talk my grandmother into letting me walk home from school myself. I said to her ‘Look, I’m bigger than you know.’”
His grandmother passed away in 2014, and he noted that her death had a phenomenal impact on him. “she was the love of my life.”
He has also shared many hilarious moments he shared with his grandmother with his fans, including one in a tweet while he was at her house and she made him take out the trash- “I can’t [believe] my grand mothers [sic] making me take Out the garbage. I’m rich f**k this I’m going home I don’t need this sh*t.”
Dancehall hitmaker Konshens was full of surprises today when he offloaded the “Konshens Remix Pack.”
As the name suggests, the project involves the dancehall deejay adding fiery verses and previously unheard vocals on popular local and international tracks. Konshens wears his creativity on his sleeve for this one, providing fans with 9 tracks of pure heat. The “Winner” singer gave fans a taste of his remixing abilities a decade ago when he dropped his version of Kelly Rowland, Lil Wayne, and DJ Drama’s 2011 hit single “Motivation.”
His track titled “Different” focused on switching things up in the bedroom, a core theme of many of the deejay’s songs. The same lesson is taught on this surprise release, which his team labeled as “a DJ pack for DJs and fans.”
The first track owes its beat to Kalan.FrFr’s song “Scoring.” Track 2 is all about his 2012 hit “Gal A Bubble” being refitted to match the beat of African super-star Wizkid’s 2019 hit “Joro.”
Konshens also layers his lyrics over songs such as Mooski’s “Track Star,” Wizkid, and Burna Boy’s “Ginger”, on which Projexx is featured, and an ode to his teenage daughter via Coi LeRay’s “No More Parties.”
Notably, Konshens has officially answered the calls of fans who were urging the deejay to remix Dexta Dap’s “Call Me If” in November last year.
The calls came after Konshens did an unofficial remix of the track that inspired a ‘Call Me If Challenge’ when Dexta Daps re-posted the video on his own Instagram page.
The remix not only found favor with fans but also with several other Dancehall entertainers including, Beenie Man, Demarco, Bounty Killer, and Kemar Highcon. Fans commented that they could not imagine the song being any better until Konshens’ remix. In addition, many fans claimed, even while the challenge started to gain traction, that Konshens had already won.
Fans are, therefore, happy to see deejay’s third track, “Call Me If Nuttin,” being the official remix to Dexta Dap’s 2020 single. Shaneil Muir flourished in 2020, and her track “3D” had a lot to do with that. It was simply a no-brainer from Konshens to trade lyrics with the sassy Shaneil on this one.
The project was aided on its way with work from his current manager Silent Addy – Bashment Records, along with Disco Neil, who engineered the project.
Konshens is impressively making big moves, having his name circulating in the media over the last three weeks following the release of “Pay For It,” featuring the queen of dancehall, Spice.
The song has been propagating wildly across platforms since its release on April 15, so much that the song is still trending on YouTube. Fans are predicting a successful and productive year for the deejay.
When you can’t beat them, join them. It seems dancehall singjay Jada Kingdom has decided to follow this old adage in hopes of getting away from her current record label. She’s reportedly found a loophole that she believes will help her to start back releasing new music as she continues to battle against her former manager.
Earlier this year, in February, she opened up about some of the obstacles she was facing. She also let fans know that she wouldn’t be releasing music anytime soon, mostly because of what she called “industry politics” and a lack of management.
The “Green Dreams” singer has somehow found a way to put out new music. She elatedly shared the news with her followers on Instagram yesterday (May 3).
“Since I can’t release any new music yet, mi aguh remix some of my fav songs right now,” she wrote in an Instagram Story. “Let’s go crazy!” she added. She also revealed what the first remix would be.
Jada shared that the first remix, due any day now, will be “D’yani’s Feelings,”. As with most loopholes, there’s a catch. “The artist of the original song will be uploading my remix,” Jada Kingdom said, before adding “YOUTUBE ONLY. Badmind yuh cyah stop mi!!!”
Jada Kingdom received a lot of media attention recently, mostly because of an ongoing legal battle with her former management team, Pop Style. She was with the company for the last four years. Even though it’s not clear when they became angry with each other, the company has already filed a defamation lawsuit against the artist. The lawsuit, which was filed last month, claims that she allegedly made libelous remarks about them during an Instagram Live video.
During that Live, Jada shared her excitement about having found a new management team.
“Mi excited fi see how everything a go turn out. Mi cya wait fi drop new music,” she said. “Mi waiting, just ready fi go crazy as I should have been doing from day f**king one… There’s just so much sh*t and how mi get by is creating music, laughing, see the good inna everything regardless. Everything a go work out,” she continued.
It seems that Drake forgets how strange real names can sound especially when it doesn’t match up to the music persona and monikers artists choose for themselves.
In a lighthearted comment, Drake poked fun at Moneybagg Yo‘s real name as the rapper shared that Music Choice was playing his Billboard No. 1 album A Gangsta’s Pain where they also revealed his real name.
Moneybagg Yo was not amused by that move by Music Choice, which asked, “DID YOU KNOW? Moneybagg Yo’s real name is Demario Dewayne White Jr.”
“Police as hell… what the f*** wrong with y’all, Music Choice? Get this s**t right. Appreciate the love but damn! Talking about, did y’all know his real name?”
Never mind, the information might satisfy curious fans. Some folks thought the reaction was funny, including Drake, who poked fun at his names. “DD White mayne” Drake posted on an Akademiks post of Moneybagg Yo’s video along with four laughing emojis.

Fans, though, were quick to check Drake, whose real name is Aubrey Graham. Of course, Drake’s name has been the butt of many jokes and the source of quite a few hilarious memes on the internet, especially as his earlier acting career surfaced. Many felt that his name gave him a sort of “softie” look that some even tried to use it to diminish his musical achievements.
However, the rapper has said that aside from being the second most memed person after the Michael Jordan crying face, he doesn’t mind the jokes even if they’re on him as he likes to laugh at a good joke.
“I like laughing even if it’s at my expense. It doesn’t feel like it’s necessarily malicious or hurtful stuff. I’m conscious of it,” he said during an Instagram interview in 2016.
Minister Marion Hall, formerly Lady Saw, says social media critics are to be blamed for her not wanting to share more photos.
The former Queen of Dancehall, who is now a minister, has once again sparked controversy about how a Christian should be adorned, following a now-deleted post on social media. The former “Queen of the Dancehall” posted a picture of herself on Instagram on Monday, April 4, clad in a white mini dress showing some serious cleavage. She paired her outfit with a plaid jacket, a white handbag, and heels creating a look that shocked many.
In the caption, she wrote, “I wanted to post my pictures from Saturday when I went out to eat by the beach, However, I held back because I know some of you will judge me over my outfit. Don’t even start!!!”
The picture has since been circulating on social media, with critics showing their distaste in the Minister’s outfit, while others expressed that it’s not their place to judge.
Some social media users speculated that the photo was reminiscent of her days as Dancehall veteran ‘Lady Saw,’ while others just found the photo “too sexy” for a minister.
Beneath Hall’s original post, fans and followers showed nothing less than love and appreciation, but perhaps the attention that the post had garnered led her to delete it some hours later.
This is not the first time that the Minister has come under public scrutiny for her attire, and perhaps, it was these same critics she was warning, “don’t even start!”
In early February, the gospel deejay had to clap back at critics who condemned her for wearing a low-cut blouse. The Minister, who was in Miami on a lunch date with her friends, captioned that post, ‘Public service announcement for the holier-than-thou fashion police, Minister Marion Hall is a sexy Christian.”
Hall later posted a video on social media addressing the trolls who questioned her faith, saying, “God cares for what is behind the heart…not my boobs. If that’s all you see I guess they look good right? I’m still a Christian. I’m still Marion, not Lady Saw.… I’m so blessed and I love my body… I’m a sexy Christian.”
However, amid the recent criticisms, Hall says she will be holding back on what she shares on social media. What do you think of her latest photo?
Yungeen Ace is continuing to deny that he had a run-in backstage with fellow rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine during the rapper’s concert.
In and Instagram live stream with DJ Akademiks, 6ix9ine claimed that Florida rapper Yungeen Ace was backstage his show in Miami last week. 6ix9ine also claimed that the rapper, who he’s had beef with, walked right by him and did not step to him.
The beef between the two first started when Yungeen Ace called out Tekashi 6ix9ine for snitching and said he didn’t respect him. Ace did make a point, however, that he would work with 6ix9ine if given the opportunity as it was just business. Needless to say, the comment didn’t sit well with Tekashi, who was recently released from prison after serving a reduced sentence in exchange for his testimony which implicated several members of his former gang.
Speaking in the interview with DJ Akademiks, Tekashi said, “F*ck all that. Yungeen Ace was at my show yesterday. F*ck all of the things that we talking about. Street rappers were at my show yesterday. If they want the static, I was there. He was at the show. He was backstage, he seen me, everything.”

The “Who I Smoke” rapper responded to Tekashi on his Instagram story, sharing the post with 6ix9ine’s claim and writing, “Mann dis ni**a so cap bra [laughing emoji]..wdf.”
Yungeen Ace’s denial story was sadly short-lived, as DJ Akademiks, who the rapper has also had beef with, later dug up a photo that showed the rapper was indeed at the Trillerfest event where Tekashi performed.
Yungeen Ace later explained the encounter in a live stream, saying he did see Tekashi, but the encounter did not quite happen how 6ix9ine said it did.
In the video, Ace said, “that ni**a was scared as f**k man.. then the nigga said he ain’t know me but he seen me in there. These ni**as trippin. This ni**a was in a car. This ni**a rolled past only time I seen this guy.”

Ace went on to say that Tekashi was masked up, with his chains tucked, and he was basically hiding in his car.
Fans have since been calling out Ace, stating that he’s a straight-up liar. One user commented, “Thought he wasn’t there?” while another added, “You said you never seen him.”
On the other hand, one Tekashi 6ix9ine supporter declared, “THEY ALL TALK HOT ON THE INTERNET BUT CAN’T EVEN TOUCH HIM IN REAL LIFE.”
Fans are now anxiously awaiting 69’s response to the ‘he said, he said’ saga.
Comments by Jay-Z in a 2010 interview have gone viral that the rapper “regrets” the lyrics in his single “Big Pimpin’.”
However, while many news outlets ran with the headlines, it seems that those comments are misconstrued from an old interview by Jay-Z done in 2010. Of course, of late, most of the news about Jay-Z surrounds his business acumen and financial moves, including the latest sale of his share in Tidal to Jack Dorsey’s Square.
He has also been trending on Twitter for his performance on DJ Khaled’s latest album “Khaled Khaled’. Now, it seems that fans are concerned that the rapper could be regretting the lyrics to one of his biggest singles at the heights of his career.
One news article on the internet said the rapper “regretted” his Big Pimpin’ lyrics. It cited Beyonce’s husband and father of three, saying he can’t believe he said those things. However, at no point did Jay-Z ever say that. The internet was abuzz with discussions about the purported “regrets” as they proclaimed their love for the song.
However, the interview that the news article actually referred to is one done in 2010 with the Wall Street Journal in which Jay-Z talked about his book Decoded as well as his songwriting skills. At no point did he ever say he regretted making the song or using those lyrics, a dedicated fan page pointed out.
It added that HOV has also performed the songs many times over the past years since the song’s release.
A snippet of the interview online was posted where the Wall Street Journal asked Jay-Z, “you’re famous for not writing your lyrics down as you compose them. What changes about them when you see them on the page like this?”
Jay-Z is then quoted replying: “Some [lyrics] become really profound when you see them in writing. Not ‘Big Pimpin’. That’s the exeption. It was like I can’t believe I said that. And kept saying it. What kind of animal would say this sort of thing? Reading it is really harsh,” he said.
It appears that Jay-Z was saying he was shocked at seeing the lyrics actually on paper. But while some were quick to call the rapper misogynistic for the lyrics, others instead focused on the fact that he did not, in fact, say he regrets them as was reported by the online news publication.
Meanwhile, some fans praised the song as one of the biggest rap tunes ever made, while some also condemned the rapper for the lyrics, which seemed to promote the ill-treatment of women.

This is being reported as new when it's actually from a 2010 Wall Street Journal interview where JAY-Z talked about his book Decoded and his songwriting. No where did he say he regrets making "Big Pimpin'"

Jay-Z is 51 year old married father of 3 kids, it makes sense for him to regret Big Pimpin. It’s still my favorite hit single from him though.

Relax. Big Pimpin will be played at my wedding. https://t.co/ccPHfkOGC7

According to Genius here is a portion of Jay-Z’s verse on “Big Pimpin.”
You know I thug ’em, f*** ’em, love ’em, leave ’em
‘Cause I don’t f***in’ need ’em
Take ’em out the hood, keep ’em lookin’ good
But I don’t f***in’ feed ’em
First time they fuss I’m breezin’
Talkin’ bout, “What’s the reasons?”
I’m a pimp in every sense of the word, bitch
Better trust than believe ’em
In the cut where I keep ’em
‘Til I need a nut, ’til I need to beat the guts
Then it’s, beep beep and I’m pickin’ ’em up
Let ’em play with the dick in the truck
Many chicks want to put Jigga fist in cuffs
Divorce him and split his bucks
Just be’cause you got good head, I’m a break bread
So you can be livin’ it up?
Govana and Fivio Foreign drop the visual for their new collaboration, “Movie.”
While Jamaica remains under curfew, the dancehall hitmaker traveled to Brooklyn to shoot the video with fast-rising New York rapper Fivio Foreign. The JLShotThat-directed cut saw Govi pulling up to a block party where Fivio and his crew were enjoying refreshments with plenty of females strutting their stuff. The cut was shot last month, and the two artists have been teasing it over the past several weeks.
“See me out with me army we do this all day / Nineties to conace nah say floss yeah / Hallow tip in a the cartridge fi the 40 / Me a roll with some Haitians so braff yeah / Get paid in six figure tell a b*tch ni**a / Next time address me by me last name,” Govana spits.
Govana has cemented himself as one of the leading artists of the current generation of dancehall acts. The 4th Genna deejay has been steadily building out his catalog over the past few years while showing both class and experience anytime he decides to put out a record.
Fivio Foreign spent the last decade steadily building a name for himself in the hip hop scene. He was originally known as Lite Fivio while rapping in the underground scene in New York, but would later change his name to Fivio Foreign in 2013. The move proved to be good for the now 31-year-old rapper who has since scored some big hits, including his appearance on Drake’s “Demons” last year, which peaked at 34 on the Hot 100 chart.
Moneybagg Yo has the number one album out now.
The Tennessee rapper has a lot to celebrate as the rapper is riding high on his latest album’s success. As of Monday, A Gangsta’s Pain is No. 1 on Billboard’s 200 album chart. The album debuted last week and has quickly sold 110K equivalent album units in just a week. The project has also received 147.4 million streams and around 3,000 traditional sales.
The 22-track album is his first Billboard No. 1 album and has been a goal for the rapper since his last Billboard spot at No. 3 in 2020 with his album “time served”. Moneybagg Yo reacted to the news on Twitter as he thanked his fans for their support.
“#1 Album In Da World Mannnnee Dis Shit Feel Crazy, I’m Forever Grateful For This!” he said. “Without My Fans and My Team I Wouldn’t Be Shit ! God Working Thank Y’all I Promise To Neva Let Up !! #DeluxeOTW #BreadGang.”

The Memphis native has been on a roll as his latest caps off his 11th album to chart within the top 25 of Billboard. The singles of the album are also performing well, with “Time Today” at the No. 37 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
While celebrating the success of his latest project, Moneybagg Yo asked fans for prayers after revealing that his mother contracted covid-19 and pneumonia. Fans rally over the weekend to send the Memphis rapper and his family a lot of prayers. Thankfully he later shared that she was doing much better.
Drake has a notorious reputation with women, and now, it seems that there’s more fuel to that rumor as a man is hinting that the OVO rapper had an affair with his fiancée, which lead to their 8-year engagement breaking up.
The fiancé of Noami Sharon sent social media into a frenzy on Monday after he accused Drake of causing the breakup. He says Naomi Sharon was unfaithful with the rapper.
In a lengthy post online, the man @Jamiessun says Naomi Sharon signed a record deal with Drake, and from there, things went south as the relationship fell apart. Naomi Sharon is one of the artists who have been photographed with Drake in Studio, and it’s suspected that she will appear on his Certified Lover Boy album.
“Imagine having the most beautiful, supportive, and faithful relationship 8 years long with an engagement and wedding planned. A beautiful woman on your side as ride or die. Than this major opportunity comes and a world star calls your fiancé to sign a record deal. Flies you both over and than out of nowhere all the trust is vanished with knifes in your back and in your heart,” wrote Naomi Sharon’s fiancé on Instagram.
It appears that following the failure of the relationship, Naomi Sharon has also been spotted elsewhere with Drake. The two have been seen at the gym together, which has confirmed things for the fiancé, a subreddit post has said.
While the fiancé has not named Drake, it seems that all of the references to his fiancée and her recent appearances alongside Drake caused fans to surmise that nobody but Drake is responsible for ending the happy home of the couple.
The fiancé also confirmed that the two have broken up in a follow-up post. “I am no longer with the person people think I am together with. I am no longer with the 8 years I thought I was together with.”

50 Cent confirmed his new TV series Confessions Of A Crime Queen has been green light.
The iconic album that put 50 Cent on the map was Get Rich or Die Tryin’, and the rapper has stayed true to his motto. When his musical career slowed down, he found the next thing to bring in that paper, and as with just about anything he’s put his hands on, he was successful. You can now count 50 as a successful television producer as he will soon add another show to his already impressive string of flicks. This one is called Confessions Of A Crime Queen.
It’s a new true-crime anthology that he can add to his repertoire of productions that include the very successful Power, Power Book II: Ghost, Power Book III: Raising Kanan, For Life, and the upcoming BMF.
He broke the news on Instagram today that he’s been given the confirmation of the series to be produced on Discovery+. Online publication Deadline shared more about what to look out for in the upcoming series. According to them, each season will center around the life of a female “Crime Queen” who built a criminal empire before it all came crashing down. They also stated that a well-known actress considered A-list will portray the character who she will also study during the making of the show.
As he often does, 50 Cent took to Instagram to share his excitement with fans. “See this is the point you should realize I’m not playing, he captioned the post and added: “GREEN LIGHT GANG.”
View this post on Instagram
He also revealed in another post that he’s moved from New York to Houston, probably to be closer to the filming of the shoot even though he didn’t explicitly say that. “Love NY, but i live in Houston now i’ll explain later,” he said before sharing a few screencaps from Deadline’s announcement.
Discovery also shared their excitement with getting the chance to work with the now in-demand television producer. Lisa Holme, the Group SVP Commercial Content and Strategy of Discovery+ said: “Discovery+ is delighted to partner with Curtis, G-Unit Film & Television, Goodbye Pictures and Lionsgate on this ambitious and innovative project. Combining our unparalleled home for original true crime content with his vision for how to tell these stories in a new way will give true crime fans a fresh perspective on the genre.”
Pharrell Williams belies that labels are using advance payments to artists as an entrapment to own their creative works. The artist was speaking to Steve Stoute about the pitfalls of advance loans the devastating effect it has had on artists.
The discussions were centered on United Masters hosting SelectCon on Twitch in a two-day conference. CEO of United Master Steve Stoute and Pharrell Williams discussed various aspects of music and its operations as they discussed the problems arising from contracts with labels that are unfair to artists.
Many artists have come out to accuse labels of taking advantage of them with unfair deals and contracts, and this has led to many artists even forming their own record labels and distribution companies to avoid the issues with labels.
Among those who have complained are the likes of Kanye West, Teyana Taylor, Megan Thee Stallion, and many more artists who claim they have not received any income from their labels.
However, the issues are said to be stemming from the types of agreements that artists have with the labels, and now many new artists are falling into the trap of advances, especially.
In response to a question, Stoute asked Pharrell about what he thought of these advances. The experienced artist/producer and Stoute agreed that the way labels operate should be illegal.
“You shouldn’t walk into a company and say, ‘I’m gonna make this record.’ They give you an advance then for the tenure of that, the entire time you’re album’s out, you’re working to pay back that advance,” said Pharrell said. Stoute then interrupted to add, “It’s illegal.” Pharrell continued, “No bank gives a company a loan to start a company and walks away with the trademarks.”
According to Pharrell, “No one should own you. No one should own your actions. No one should own your creations. But you.”
The current situation in the music industry has led to many artists suing their labels for unfair deals. The latest person to do so is Megan Thee Stallion, who alleged that her contract with 1501 Entertainment saw her receiving little to no income from her deal. The CEO of that label admitted to giving Megan a $10,000 advance. However, what he took in return was far more.
“we gave her a $10,000 advance when we first signed her and gave it to her mother. I don’t know what happened[with that]. 300 (the distribution company she had signed to) gave us $200,000 check when we first signed. I gave her $50,000 of it. I didn’t have to give her that. That was mine at the time,” he said in a Billboard interview.
In her initial lawsuit to void her 30 recording contract with 1501 Entertainment, Megan claims that she was only given $15,000 from the label after earning a billion streams and selling over 300,000 individual track downloads that estimate earnings of $7 million.
The matter is still before a court.

Tory Lanez and Chris Brown got a joint project on the way.
Any other artist might have crumbled under the type of pressure that Tory Lanez has had to face over the last year. Somehow, he’s been able to keep his career alive and thriving as well. Earlier this year, in March, he dropped off a new EP called Playboy. Since he brought it out, he’s been doing his best to promote it. That’s as best as an artist can do in these pandemic times. Like most others, he’s been doing most of the promotion online.
Even though he’s faced a lot of negative media since the Megan Thee Stallion shooting incident, he’s been able to keep his head above water. In 2020 he released his fifth studio album, Daystar, which debuted at number 10 on the Billboard 200. The album was a brave one and actually explored his alleged shooting of the female rapper. Even though it made a strong debut, it did not receive a lot of media attention because of the controversial subject that he chose to tackle.
Yesterday night, May 1, he performed his latest album during a virtual live show. Following the show, he dropped some exciting news. While being interviewed by DJ Carisma, he revealed that he has an upcoming joint project with Chris Brown. His career also looks to be taking off in the right direction as he also shared that he would be dropping two new singles, and each one will have features from the rising rappers DaBaby and Yung Bleu.
While Lanez and Brown have been linked through music before, they’ve never attempted collaboration on this scale. One thing is for sure the two men are well-known and somewhat revered in the R&B space. Fans will surely be excited to see what they come up with when it drops.

J. Cole’s highly anticipated new album “The Off-Season” may be coming soon.
The Dreamville rapper teases the forthcoming project on his Instagram story on Saturday, May 1, sending fans into a frenzy. J. Cole expressed his excitement and anticipation for the release of the album on social media, writing, “Just rode through the city to The Off-Season. Dawg…” also adding a facepalm emoji. “Too excited,” he said.
The rap community has been awaiting the album for some weeks after the “Work Out” rapper revealed that he was cooking up something great for fans in the studio some months ago.
J. Cole just posted this on IG ?
The Off-Season is really coming!!!!

— Team DREAMVILLE (@Team_Dreamville) May 1, 2021
DJ Akademiks had hinted that fellow rapper NBA YoungBoy was supposed to link with J.Cole sometime last month but did not show up. It has not yet been revealed which other artists will be featured on the project, as Cole seemed to have been so busy working that he did not reveal a lot of information about the album.
J. Cole has been wrapped up in recording the project for some months but had not revealed the official time set for the drop. Drizzy, however, was the person to inform the public about an album on the way, and whispers had emerged on social media from the camp. Still, neither Cole nor Kendrick had given any details of the project until now. Dreamville’s Bas had also revealed that the album would be coming in two weeks, just a few days ago.
Notably, three titles, including “It’s A Boy” and “The Fall Off,” were unveiled in a mysterious post shared to Cole’s Instagram. Some fans have speculated from these titles that the 36-year-old rapper might be retiring.
Nevertheless, fans are looking forward to the album drop in the coming weeks.
This month (May) is expected to be quite festive in the Hip Hop community. Just a few days ago, Top Dog Entertainment (TDE) had revealed that they have a major release come May 7th.
A month after he gave fans the anthem “Never Give Up,” Mavado is back with another inspirational track. The artiste officially released his single “Never Go Win” on YouTube today (April 30).
Like “Never Give Up”, Mavado’s latest track gives off a reggae vibe and is all about the positive. The Tommy G production, which is distributed by Zojak Worldwide, also features upcoming artiste IVoltage.
The rhythm builds up slowly and features the harmony that complements Mavado’s smooth voice. Coupled with sharp and well-delivered lyrics from IVoltage, the song has hit potential.
The lyrics reference the troubles that the world has been facing in the past year, which should make it very relatable for those who’ve encountered struggles due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In the opening of the song, IVoltage says, “Whole heep a f***ery gwaan last year still enuh, yuh know,” and let’s just say we can all relate.
The song’s lyrics also pay homage to Mavado’s mother, who recently passed away when she died in hospital in March. The entertainer sings, “Mama though yuh gone, yuh legacy live on. Watch over yuh son, see when mi troubles a come.”
Ultimately it is a feel-good motivational song that will have listeners pressing the repeat button.
Fans have already started sharing positive reactions to the song. One YouTube user commented, “Dem neva go WIN. Another classic from the Gad.” A second user wrote, “Finally!!!!! From it preview me been a wait on it an gully gad neva disappoint.”
Tekashi 6ix9ine pays homage to XXXTentacion at his concert last weekend but Ski Mask The Slump God isn’t impressed.
The self-proclaimed King of New York, Daniel Hernandez, better known as Tekashi 6ix9ine is not well-liked in many rap circles. However, he still has many supporters. The rapper is currently in Florida at a music festival where he performed in front of a whopping 15,000 fans. While this concert defied the usual social distancing guidelines, this is not what is most surprising.
It was 6ix9ine’s tribute to fellow rapper XXXTentacion that caught everyone off guard. This is not the first time 6ix9ine has done a tribute for X as he memorialized him right after his passing in 2018.
The late alternative rapper Jahseh Onfroy, more popularly known as XXXTentacion and typically referred to as X, was from Miami-Dade County. He had a massive cult following which he built from his SoundCloud and his social media accounts. Millions of fans around the world mourned his untimely passing back in June 2018.
At this recent festival, 6ix9ine referred to X as the King of Florida and played X’s “Look At Me!”. He did not perform the song in its entirety but rather recited some of the lyrics while moshing on stage.
View this post on Instagram
This was typically well-received by his fans, who thought the tribute was heartfelt. Even those who were not fans of the New York rapper lauded him for the tribute on social media. However, one rapper was not impressed. X’s best friend Ski Mask The Slump God made his displeasure known on Twitter.
“Random N****s That Perform Take A Step Back Or Look At Me But Only Know The First Three Lines,” The Slump God tweeted.
Random Niggas That Perform Take A Step Back Or Look At Me But Only Know The First Three Lines ???
— Sir Ski Mask (@THESLUMPGOD) May 2, 2021
It is unclear whether the “Catch Me Outside” rapper’s tweet was intended for Tekashi 6ix9ine, as he did not directly call him out. If this tweet is for 6ix9ine, it is obvious that Ski Mask views this performance as being disrespectful. Regardless, this tribute seems to have gotten him in the good graces of many who were not fond of him before.
As fans sings him high praises, many of them are also highlighting how petty 6ix9ine is and are anxious to see his response to Ski Mask. Tekashi is known for his legendary trolling skills, and the rapper consistently stays embroiled in endless beefs.
Following his release from prison last year, 6ix9ine shared a screenshot of some DMs XXXTentacion sent him before his death the year before.
Quando Rondo was shot at and his friend wounded following a show in Georgia over the weekend.
The Savannah rapper has been a moving target ever since King Von was shot and killed in November last year following a fight between the two outside a nightclub in Atlanta. Although Quando Rondo has maintained that Vin’s death was a case of self-defense, that is not enough to remove the target from off his back. As a result, he has been driving around heavily armed in a bulletproof vehicle with plenty of bodyguards.
It seems his enemies are moving closer following a shooting incident last weekend where Rondo was shot at, and a bullet struck one member of his entourage, TMZ reported. Law enforcement sources say gunfire erupted outside a convenience store off a highway in Georgia in Blackshear.
The attack took placed at approximately 3:20 AM on Sunday while the rapper and his entourage were standing in the parking lot. Quando Rondo and his crew had already left the scene when police arrived. There are no reports of any bullets hitting Rondo, but one member of his crew with hit by a bullet in his hand and got treatment at a local hospital.
Cops say that Quando and his large entourage made a quick stop at the convenience store before shots started firing at them, possibly from across the street.
Interestingly, Quando Rondo performed in front of a small crowd at The Vibe Event Center in Waycross, Georgia, over the weekend. His performance comes after several of his shows were canceled due to threats of violence. A noticeable small crowd was also at the event, a sign that fans are also concerned about possible violence breaking out at his events.

Bounty Killer seconds a Jamaican senator’s take on the correlation between crime and music.
The ongoing debate in Jamaica concerning the impact of dancehall music on the country’s high crime rate has welcomed opinions and arguments from figures in both the entertainment and political industry. While the members of the proposition and opposition seemed to be clearly established as the government and dancehall community, respectively, a opposition senator recently did an interview on a very popular music entertainment platform where he shared an opposing view to the Prime Minister Andrew Holness’s controversial take.
According to Damion Crawford, who is the vice president of the opposition political party, there are no statistics to support the notion that music has negatively affected the crime rate, not just in Jamaica but anywhere.
In his recent interview with On-Stage’s Winford Williams, Crawford said the government’s attempt to lobby the public to believe dancehall music has influenced crime, particularly murder is baseless and makes for an excuse for the industry to continue to suffer from a lack of government support.
“If it is positioned in the minds of the public that it is a negative industry, that is a covid contributor, that it is a crime contributor, it’s a murder contributor then that impetus, that push to have government protect it will not come,” he said. “And the government will always have a satisfactory excuse to the public to say this is why we have not embraced this industry in the same way first place.”
He continued, “So that is why I’m out here to say that all the signs suggest that there is no true causal relationship between music and crime – in particular murder.” He went on to say countries like the United Kingdom, Norway, and the United States have done the research as it relates to rap music and other genres affecting national crime rates, and it yielded the result that there is no correlation.
An excerpt from Crawford’s interview with On-Stage has been circulating online since it premiered on national television. Bounty Killer was among those influencers who reshared the clip on Instagram, making light of the strong argument that in the grand scheme of things, dancehall is but a scapegoat in a much larger issue that the government does not appear to have a handle on.
View this post on Instagram
Like many other dancehall artists, Bounty Killer has previously acknowledged the government and Prime Minister attributing the crime spike to music in his social media posts where he strongly disagreed that dancehall is to be blamed. In November 2020, the deejay highlighted major contributors to the crime during a speech at a conference with members of the Jamaica security force. He pointed out some social issues that drive the crime rate up, including unemployment, impoverished communities, a lack of morals, stable homes, parents, and self-worth.
As Damion Crawford suggested in his recent interview, the government could be laying the foundation for an excuse to perpetuate their lack of positive attention and funding to dancehall music. Ironically, Bounty Killer believes all the funding that goes towards national security is hardly a fix as he believes the high crime rate is a matter of social dysfunction in the society rather than a critical security issue. The dancehall veteran says in order to really start tackling the root of the crime epidemic in Jamaica, a sharper focus should be placed on social development.
What’s your take on the role of dancehall music in society and the ongoing debate on whether its influence has been negatively impacting the crime rate?
NLE Choppa and his crew were captured on camera beating down a man at Venice Beach and now he’s speaking out.
NLE Choppa is supposedly a changed man seeking a more spiritual path. He’s even let fans into his sort of Zen vegetable garden, showing a softer side of himself. Or at least that’s the new image that he’s trying to project, but it seems he still has quite a violent streak even though he might explain the issue differently. The 18-year-old was caught on tape recently getting into it during a physical altercation in Venice Beach. His entourage was part of the massive throwdown.
The video shows Choppa and his crew strolling the beach when they seem to get into an argument with another man. The issue got heated quickly, and violence ensued. In the video, the man was stopped with his scooter on the pedestrian path before getting into the altercation with the young rapper and his crew. Choppa gets extremely agitated and tries to evade his security detail to try and throw a punch. Not long after, the rapper and his entire crew were seen beating down on the man. The saddest part of the video is that the man is by himself. People who gathered at the scene implored the group to stop the fight because it wasn’t a fair one.
It’s not possible to make out what started the fight from the video. However, according to NLE Choppa, the issue had to do with the man in the video being a fan and asking for a picture. Choppa refused, and according to him, the fight broke out.
“Damn y’all never got hit in a fight before ? bruh asked for picture I said no I’m enjoying my self and I get called scary and a bitch. I make sure I take pictures with every fan but some days I just be trying to chill and get disrespected in the process,” he explained on Twitter.

The “Top Shotta” rapper has been having a rough time as of late. Just a little over a month ago, in late March, he was arrested on multiple charges. Following his arrest, he claimed that he was set up by the police, who he accused of planting drugs on him.
The Memphis native was arrested in Davie, Florida, and charged with carrying a concealed firearm, possession of Xanax, possession of cannabis, and burglary of an unoccupied structure. Police said they made the arrest after seeing what looked like a deal going down on a live camera feed.
