Rapper J. Cole Inks Basketball Deal In Africa With Rwanda’s Patriots

J. Cole will finally live out his professional basketball dreams with the Rwanda Patriots BBC.

The North Carolina rapper reportedly signed with Rwanda’s national team and is slated to take part in the Basketball Africa League. According to SportsCenter, a source says the signing will be official on Thursday, which is when the announcement will be made. That’s just days before the Patriots are set to play the Nigeria River Hoopers on Sunday and one day before J. Cole drops his long-awaited album The Off-Season.

While he chose to pursue his music career and a great one at that, J. Cole has always had a passion for basketball. He played varsity for the Fayetteville Bulldogs for two years in high school and even tried out for the St. John’s University’s basketball team in college. However, the rapper opted to focus on his rap career back then, and he didn’t go to the second day of tryouts. J. Cole talked about his basketball dreams always taking a back seat to his rap music career and his intention to still pursue the sport professionally in a 2020 Player’s Tribune feature.

“When I fell in love with the craft at 13 years old, I tore the basketball posters off my wall and hung up pictures and lyrics of hip-hop greats to replace them,” said J. Cole. In the article titled “The Audacity,” which was penned by the rapper, he talked about his “career bucket list,” which included another album, as well as exploring his passion for basketball. “At 35 years old, I know that sounds crazy when said out loud, but I believe all of the best dreams do,” J. Cole wrote.

After the industry learned that Cole was trying to pursue an NBA contract, the rapper was invited to try out for the Detroit Pistons in August 2020. NBA executives would have already gotten a taste of Cole’s skills back in 2012 during the All-Star Celebrity Game on ESPN, where the rapper delivered a more than stellar performance, far outshining all the other participants.

Now that his next album, The Off-Season, is set to be released on Friday (May 14), everything seems to be aligning perfectly for the rapper to now focus on his basketball career. J. Cole will play three to six games for the Patriots in the African League, hopefully starting Sunday, according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania. “The rap star is in the four-day quarantine and the signing is expected to be official Thursday. Patriots open BAL action Sunday vs Nigeria River Hoopers 7 am EST live on ESPNews,” ESPN’s Marc J. Spears reported.

The Dreamville rapper said no mountain too high, and this week he will show just that. Are you excited about J. Cole’s new album and his next chapter?

Y say my name say my name
Le dice el pesadito de 26
Hay que darme candela como Hatuey
A mi no me hace falta una corona
Pa saber que soy un rey
Y say my name say my name
Le dice el pesadito de 26
Hay que darme candela como Hatuey
A mi no me hace falta una corona
Pa saber que soy un rey
Hey omi no, tu eres un cómico
Yo soy un atómico
Hey omi no, tu eres un cómico
Y conmigo no hay na eso noo
Nooo nooo
Y conmigo no hay na eso noo
Nooo nooo
Yo no yo soy feliz
Yo no tengo oro
Pero me enamoro, lloro
Y la paz me sale por los poros
A mis hijos adoro
A nadie nada la imploro
Y la vida que llevo valoro
Ignoro aquel que me señala
Comida a quien regala
Yo he rapeao por tabla y he rapeao por moja
Y yo he salio pa fuera he regresado

Bajando flow luchandola y metiendo gol y
Y aunque mi cd no compren y pasmao me muera
Yo he visto a muchos sanacos cogiendo grammy latino
Descompongo disco diptongo distingo somongo sapingo

Dirty money stashing, call it banking
Murdеr four position, call it ranking
Cold killer steppers ’round mе nameless
Dog killing NBA ain’t no entertainment
Sippin’ drank meeting ’bout the case
Bodies smoked by the block if it’s hard
Catch you slipping, slang that stick at the yard
Behind this business, we be taking it far
Deal ’em out, we be dishing our cards
Bad bitch hit the road with that boy
Got it out front row with that stick
Bang out toe to toe with that rod
Rich nigga help to step shit
Mugged up why the bezel glist
Doped up, need another fix
I don’t know where the f*ck his mind went
Big bank, get your head popped

Riding ’round at that devil [?]
All night tryna slime shit

[Chorus]
Draco dirty hit me, it got a fifty (Top, mm-mm)

Bitch nigga steady tryna show stop, it’s a dirty game, he gon’ lose his brain (Mm-mm)

[Verse 2]
Uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh

‘I was fire, he was ice’: Vanessa Bryant’s emotional tribute to Kobe at public memorial

United States

Kobe Bryant’s wife has offered a poignant portrait of her NBA superstar husband and their daughter at a sold-out memorial service for the two, who were among nine people killed last month in a helicopter crash in Los Angeles.

Key points:

  • Vanessa Bryant, Michael Jordan and Shaquille O’Neal were among the speakers at a public memorial for Kobe
  • Thousands of fans attended the memorial, and many more gathered outside the Staples Centre in LA
  • Vanessa Bryant lodged a wrongful death lawsuit which alleges the helicopter pilot was negligent and failed to use ordinary care in piloting the aircraft

Speaking at times through tears, Vanessa Bryant praised her husband’s devotion as she addressed thousands of fans gathered at Staples Centre to remember Bryant and 13-year-old Gianna.

“God knew they couldn’t be on this Earth without each other,” Vanessa Bryant said.

“He had to bring them home to have them together. Babe, you take care of our Gigi.”

Earlier in the day, Vanessa Bryant filed a lawsuit against the company that operated the helicopter.

The service took place at the downtown arena where Kobe played for the Los Angeles Lakers for 17 years of his two-decade NBA career.

The ceremony began with Beyonce performing her songs XO and Halo with dozens of backup musicians. Alicia Keys performed Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata later in the program.

After Jimmy Kimmel welcomed the crowd, Vanessa Bryant remembered the family’s life with Gianna and her three siblings and then eulogised her husband. They had been together since 1999.

“He was the most amazing husband,” she said.

Why Kobe Bryant was more than a great basketball player
Plenty of great players have passed through the NBA, but the sadness and shock Kobe Bryant’s death has elicited speaks to a global force who was more than an athlete.

“Kobe loved me more than I could ever express or put into words. I was fire. He was ice. Vice versa at times. … He was my everything.”

Shaquille O’Neal said he and his former Los Angeles Lakers teammate Kobe Bryant had a complex relationship but that they always respected each other and never took things too seriously.

He recalled an early conflict with Bryant, who wasn’t passing as much as O’Neal would’ve liked. O’Neal said he told Kobe: “There’s no ‘I’ in team”.

Kobe responded: “Yeah, but there’s a ‘M-E’,” followed by an expletive. The crowd roared with laughter.

NBA legend Michael Jordan said that “when Kobe Bryant died, a piece of me died”. He urged people to use the inspiration of Bryant’s life for their own.

Jordan said once when he visited the Lakers locker room, Kobe asked him: “Did you bring your shoes?” Jordan said it was just a social call, but Bryant was ready for one-on-one.

The mourners included Lakers greats such as Jerry West, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Magic Johnson and Pau Gasol.

Kobe’s incredible career and life
Kobe Bryant’s NBA career with the LA Lakers was great. His influence and legacy in the game of basketball was even greater.

NBA commissioner Adam Silver joined Jordan, Phil Jackson and dozens of current NBA players, including Stephen Curry, Kyrie Irving and Los Angeles natives James Harden, Russell Westbrook and DeMar DeRozan.

Celebrities such as Kanye West, Kim Kardashian, Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez also attended.

Among the early arriving fans was Alyssa Shapiro, 27, of Huntington Beach, who said she was inspired to become a basketball player after watching countless Lakers games with her father.

The family’s love of the game — and Bryant’s work in women’s sports — prompted her to become a middle school girls’ basketball coach. Her team had played Gianna’s team and she would watch Bryant cheer for his daughter in the stands.

Holding homemade heart-shaped “Kobe” and “Gigi” signs, she said she went up to Bryant to introduce herself at a game.

“I just wanted to thank him for being such an inspiration to me,” she said.

“I grew up watching him on the screen. … It made me realize he’s more than just that guy out on the court.”

The concourse was a sea of people dressed in Lakers colours of purple and yellow and others in black. On the scoreboard, the Bryant family’s life flashes by in pictures.

At the arena, fans were given a program containing photos, a purple KB pin and a T-shirt with photos of the father and daughter.

Money from ticket sales was to be given to the Mamba and Mambacita Sports Foundation — Kobe’s nickname was Black Mamba — which supports youth sports programs in underserved communities and teaches sports to girls and women.

Symbolic meanings ran throughout the ceremony, which was held on a 24-foot-by-24-foot stage. Vanessa Bryant chose February 24 as the date in honour of the uniform numbers of Kobe and Gianna, who wore number 2 on her youth basketball teams.

A private funeral was held for Kobe and Gianna Bryant in Orange County earlier in the month.

Helicopter pilot accused of ‘negligent conduct’

Vanessa Bryant has sued the company that operated the helicopter that crashed and killed her husband, 13-year-old daughter and seven others.

The wrongful death lawsuit filed by Ms Bryant in Los Angeles said the pilot was careless and negligent by flying in cloudy conditions and should have aborted the flight.

The lawsuit was filed as the public memorial service for was being held.

Radar data showed the helicopter operated by Zobayan (pictured) began a left descending turn before air traffic control lost contact with it. (AP)

The complaint, filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court, alleged that the pilot, Ara Zobayan, who also died in the accident, failed “to use ordinary care in piloting the subject aircraft,” the Los Angeles Times said.

The lawsuit alleged the deaths of Bryant and the others were the direct result of “negligent conduct of Zobayan,” making Island Express Helicopters “vicariously liable in all respects”.

Zobayan violated federal flight rules in 2015 when he flew into busy airspace near Los Angeles International Airport despite being ordered not to by air traffic control, according to records from the Federal Aviation Administration obtained by the LA Times.

The company issued a statement on January 30 on its website saying the shock of the crash had prompted it to suspend service until it was appropriate for staff and customers.

On-court reactions to Kobe’s death
NBA games went ahead in the wake of Kobe Bryant’s death, with tears flowing and some fans labelling the decision “disrespectful”.

The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the cause of the crash into a hillside in Calabasas on the outskirts of Los Angeles County.

The helicopter crashed on January 26 while en route to the Mamba Sports Academy in Thousand Oaks, California, for a youth basketball event.

Moments before the crash, the pilot had tried to climb out of a layer of clouds, but the aircraft then banked sharply and lurched toward the ground.

The twin-engine Sikorsky S-76B slammed into a hillside 60 seconds later and burst into flames, killing all nine people on board, according to details revealed by federal aviation safety officials.

Investigators with the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) estimated Bryant’s luxury passenger helicopter hit the ground at a speed of more than 610 metres per minute.

“This is a pretty steep descent at high speed,” NTSB board member Jennifer Homendy told a briefing in Calabasas, a town adjacent to the crash scene about 65 kilometres north-west of downtown Los Angeles.

Radar data showed the helicopter had ascended to 2,300 feet then began a left descending turn before air traffic control lost contact with it.

Shock and anger as NBA dunk contest ends in controversy

United States

Miami Heat forward Derrick Jones Jr has celebrated his 23rd birthday by winning the NBA All-Star Slam Dunk Contest, edging Orlando Magic forward Aaron Gordon in a memorable showdown that required two tiebreaker jams.

Key points:

  • Aaron Gordon leapt over Tacko Fall, the tallest player in the NBA, but still didn’t win the dunk contest
  • It’s the second time Gordon has been considered unlucky not to win, after also missing out in 2016
  • Derrick Jones Jr became the second Heat player to win on the day after Bam Adebayo won the skills challenge

Jones and Gordon each got a perfect 50 on both of their dunks in the final, before registering two more perfect scores on their first jam in the dunk-off.

Jones then took off from just inside the foul line and threw down a windmill jam with his left hand, drawing a 48 from the panel of five judges.

After a short discussion with Hall of Famer Shaquille O’Neal, Gordon brought out 7’5″ Boston Celtics rookie Tacko Fall and positioned him near the basket. He then took the ball from Fall’s hands on his way to a thunderous two-handed dunk.

The United Centre gasped as the courtside NBA stars celebrated, but Gordon was controversially awarded a 47 by the five judges — three nines and two 10s — giving the victory to Jones.

Gordon also lost a memorable dunk contest to Zach LaVine in 2016, and let his frustration be known.

“What are we doing, man? What are we doing? Who set the dunk contest up, man?” Gordon said.

“I wanted to jump over Shaq. He didn’t want to do it. Jumping over someone who’s 7’5” and dunking it is no easy feat.

“What’d I get? A 47? C’mon man. What’re we doing?

“I don’t even know who gave me the nines. I’ma find ’em tonight.”

Twice scorned, Gordon said this would be the last dunk contest he would compete in.

“It’s a wrap. I feel like I should have two trophies, so it’s over for that. My next goal is going to be to try and win the three-point contest,” he said.

Jones said he would have been happy to keep the contest going.

“He clipped Tacko’s head when he did that dunk so they couldn’t have given him a 50 for that one,” he said.

“I would have respected if they gave him another 48 so we can go again.”

Earlier, Heat big man Bam Adebayo won the skills challenge and Sacramento Kings guard Buddy Hield won the three-point contest.

Australia’s Ben Simmons will play in the All Star game on Monday (AEDT).

‘Would’ve been good to say goodbye’: Future NBA star ditches Aussie team without a word

Wollongong 2500

American basketball sensation LaMelo Ball has unceremoniously ended his Australian stint, leaving the country without telling his teammates.

Key points:

  • LaMelo Ball left Australia for the US this morning without warning
  • The captain of the Illawarra Hawks says he was surprised to discover the team’s star import has left the country
  • The owner of the Hawks says he is disappointed that Ball left without saying goodbye

His club, the Illawarra Hawks confirmed the 18-year-old guard had taken a flight home and will continue his rehabilitation from a foot injury, which kept him sidelined since November, in the United States.

Club captain Todd Blanchfield said he was shocked by Ball’s sudden departure, which he learned about when ABC Illawarra contacted him for comment.

“It’s news to me, but [Ball’s camp has] got an agenda they have to take care of,” he said.

“At the end of the day he’s thinking of the bigger picture and has bigger things in mind.

“We were team mates for half the season while he was playing, and we had our ups and downs, but it would have been good to say goodbye.”

‘Really disappointed’

Meanwhile, the owner of the Illawarra Hawks has criticised the star’s unannounced departure from the club.

“I’m really disappointed that he didn’t say goodbye to his teammates and his coach,” Simon Stratford told NewsCorp.

“We had some indication via his minder Jermaine Jackson that he wouldn’t stay for the rest of the season.

“We anticipated that he’d leave around February 11, but we never thought he would leave before the Indigenous round this weekend, that is for sure.”

(ABC News)

Historic cameo

During his 12 games in Australia Ball averaged 17 points, seven rebounds and seven assists per game, and also made NBL history by becoming the youngest player ever to make a triple-double.

His stocks have steadily risen off the back of his performances, elevating him to top NBA draft pick in ESPN’s mock 2020 draft.

“He has taken huge strides as a player this season and there is a lot of interest in him ahead of the NBA draft in June,” Illawarra Hawks general manager Mat Campbell said.

“He has a very bright future ahead of him and the Hawks are proud to have played a part in that journey.”

Ball is one of the highest profile products of the NBL’s inaugural NextStars program, alongside New Zealand Breakers guard RJ Hampton and the Sydney Kings’ Didi Louzada.

NBL Commissioner Jeremy Loeliger says Ball’s time in the league has been a success for Australian basketball.

“He has shown his undoubted talent, but also developed as a player and a person by spending time in a professional, world class league,” he said.

“We are proud to have played a part in his journey to the NBA and we look forward to maintaining a close association with him as he takes the next steps in his professional career.”

Wale – All Star Break Up Lyrics

[Verse 1]
If my pride was aside, I probably would text you first
But, If you could die from a broken heart you would drive a hearse
Cause, every guy that has ever found you attractive and acted on it
Back pedals much after, that’s when you’ve shown your worth
And I heard you love NBA niggas and
Now, you could track how much them niggas make and make rounds
At the All-Star break of day or so by valentine’s
So my advice if shorty doesn’t know the game she gaming y’all
And this valentine’s, dollar signs have you satisfied

Pardon this pessimistic
Message I’m representing
Yes yes, i know this bitch
I mean woman, I was getting reckless
But hol up lemme get one second
I spent so much in Fendi
She know I’m cool with Robyn
She bother me for the Fenty yeah
I’m trying to block the part of my heart that thrives on your affection
You tried the love it’s not enough, it’s cars, it’s money, attention
But, I’m way too flawed to judge you
And I do my part to push you
Father and father from me from my broads and all my problems
She say look ‘le I’m sorry, my plane leaves in the morning
I’m trying to hit some parties, hit Staples for the performances
Maybe I’ll see you Monday, thanks for this box of chocolates and
Roses you hold before me but court seats could get me 40
Thousand likes on my IG, someone I like just invited me
Plus I’m not even wifey, plus you 5’9 he’s a giant no
Baby mama, I might could just make a blog and get popular
Let’s hold a 40 before us but fame and fortune excites me
My valentine

[Outro]
I don’t believe in valentines
I don’t believe in valentines (I heard you love NBA niggas and now)
I don’t believe in valentines (I heard you love NBA niggas and now)
I don’t believe in valentines
You ever lost your main jawn to a point guard or a small forward
I don’t believe in
I find it funny Cupid’s busiest days, four days before the All-Star
It was fun while it lasted
I don’t believe in

Working hard, now my name getting bigger
Comin’ up I grew up ’round killers
Swear that I’m traumatized nigga
My hopes to the ceiling
Hurt and I need some healing
Gotta do better for my children
I can’t give up on my mission

[Chorus: YoungBoy Never Broke Again]
Through all this heartbreak and this pain I can’t change
Through the betrayal and the rain I stay the same
I promise you that I’ma leave how I came
Gotta stop playin’, now it’s time to be a man
It ain’t a thing I can’t handle, I’m a champion
It ain’t a thing I can’t handle, I’m the chosen one

[Verse 2: Kodak Black]
Don’t let nobody tell you different, you the greatest
Project baby and I’m a baby with a baby
And mama I been goin’ back crazy again

Dancing with the devil, fighting demons
My lady hate the way that I be sleeping
Show the world it took so long for me to see, didn’t we
I remember when I didn’t even believe in me
I be going hard never exaggerate
I be going hard nigga
I be going hard never over exaggerate
Yeah the real ones stay here, the fake evaporate
Draco baby, K banana clip, gon’ chop an eight
But I love them shell cats that keep a thirty-eight
Ninety baby catching burglaries or a murder case
Feed a turkey, caught thirty
I done grew up way too quick, too early
Thirty on me, Stephen Curry, use my jersey
I’m a warrior, that be my jersey
Free G Pharaoh, damn they did you dirty
NBA winning, balling like I’m Stephen Curry
Blue hundreds like a peacock, I got them birdies

Belly – Mumble Rap

Uh, fuckin’ hoes that ain’t worth a cent
In homes that ain’t worth the rent
Perfect sense, this is the circus that I had to circumvent
If you fly, I’m turbulance
Murder murder, screamin’ "Fuck 12!" with a perfect 10
In these streets runnin’ ’round robbin’ every fuckin’ body like a tournament
Once the time has turned
This is the only shit I learned
I put a bridge over my pool, that’s for all the ones that burned
I hope you pick up game, it’s a pick up game, winner’s ball
Hoes annoying just like the hiccups man, that’s Biggie Smalls
Dope dick give your bitch withdrawals
Why’d you even get your bitch involved?
I’m gone off the liquor, I’m sicker than Paul
And call it, just listen, I’m twisted and raw
Pictured it all
I had to sacrifice, I feel extra blessed tonight
Yeah they slept on me, I flexed on ’em, and manifest to life

I been ridin’ through the city on my own
Only time I see myself was in this chrome
Oh man, I been gettin’ in my zone
Hearin’ everybody soundin’ like some clones
[?]
Man I been- I been trappin’ on my own
[?]

Okay, I need to get in my hemisphere
You interfere, start to interfere
You Richard Gere with a pretty woman, I told her look ain’t no tricks in here
Like the drugs white and the liquor clear
Reflect back, tryna make it clear
Bad luck, 7 years, and I ain’t even break a mirror
20 years just to make it here
Don’t take it there, your circles is made of squares
You shoulda been made aware
Your bitch said my face is her favorite chair
Oh God, whole squad made millions
Whole time stay real
Wonder why I can’t chill
Couldn’t even pay bills
Now it’s LA hills
And I’m the king, Hank Hill
Can’t feel, can’t stand still
I blame all these damn pills
The best shit we can’t feel
I’m signin’ NDAs, these texts like NBA deals
But envy may kill, still don’t give a fuck how they feel

I been ridin’ through the city on my own
Only time I see myself was in this chrome
Oh man, I been gettin’ in my zone
Hearin’ everybody soundin’ like some clones
[?]
Man I been- I been trappin’ on my own

Futuristic – Epiphany Lyrics

[Intro: Futuristic]
I had an epiphany
I was repeating history
I was doing everything I hated
The weight on my shoulders
I let it all get to me (I let it all get to me)
I had an epiphany
I just smiled at my enemies
I was listening to everybody who was talking
But never did shit for me, yeah
I had an epiphany
I was looking at everybody else that’s up in the industry
They ain’t as sick as me (they ain’t as sick as me)
I had an epiphany
I was seeing somebody that never had no good intentions for me
Now she missing me, yuh (now she missing me)

[Verse 1: Futuristic]
Moral of the story is that nobody did it for me
Had to make a change (nah)
I was living in the city with no scene
I had a dream I had to make a lane (yup, yup)
Always knew that I couldn’t live off of minimum wage
Ripping the pay stub
I had a minimal taste for all the fame stuff
But I got into the game without a cent to my name
And now I’m ballin’ like I’m in the NBA, bruh
And I know I got a lot but I’m not content
If they ask me to stop, I will not consent
Never gonna let nobody block cause my shot to miss
You can meet me at the top if you hop the fence
And you climb the stairs
And you fight the beast
And you lose your way
Then you find your peace
And you do it sober
Then you find a drink
Then you spiral down
And it all repeats
And I always had a vision I could get it
So I did it by my lonely
I don’t owe nobody nothing, never let nobody own me
Got some money from the music, and I spend it on the homies
But don’t put nothin’ before me, gave a whip to little Brody
And I’m only getting started
And I’m eating with the people that I starve with
And my batteries, I had to recharge ’em
I made an album but that shit was garbage
Yo, I was trapped in a gimmick
I finally get it
I’m here to make music that matters
If I die, it’ll all be alright
‘Cause the message I gave you will live for me after
And my chapter will highlight a lifetime
Of energy gave through a bright mind
How you never had to stand on the sideline
How you the guide to your own guidelines

[Bridge: Futurisitic]
That’s an epiphany
I had an epiphany, yeah
That’s an epiphany
I had an epiphany, yeah

[Verse 2: NF]
I had an epiphany
That I could make history
That I could prove everyone wrong
That told me I wasn’t cut out for this music thing, yeah
I had an epiphany
What if I took my energy
And used it on positive things in my life
Instead of the people that lie to me, huh?
Yeah, I had an epiphany
That I could put all of my hurt into music
And use it for people that might feel the same as me
Yeah, I had an epiphany
What if everyone knew my depression was worse than they thought?
They probably gonna look at me differently
Yo, this song got me going back, when I was a stupid kid
Thinking maybe I could make it in the music biz
And then I figured out the politics
And realized that half of y’all don’t even know what music is
And going nowhere, I told ’em to get used to me
Feels like I’m living in a movie scene
A bunch of people trying to tell me how to act and breathe
One thing I never let nobody ever do was tell me who to be
I never got into the party scene
Maybe I was just scared to drink
‘Cause addiction it runs in my family
That’s someone I was scared to be
You’re looking pitiful compared to me
Since I can barely read
All I wanted was somebody I could trust
That I knew would keep it real with me
Rap’s always been a mirror for me
That’s when I figured out that maybe I’m the one that’s gotta make it on my own, yeah, it’s clear to see
A lot of people think that what I’m doing is a gimmick
Everything you hear me writing I’ve been living
I ain’t quitting, send the money to my family
Try to show them that I miss them
And I cherish every moment when I’m home and when I’m with them
And this is the way that I feel
In the industry of fakes trying to stay real
In the industry of lames trying to get deals
Lord knows imma get it, that’s Meek Mill
Yeah, I lay in my bed at night thinking
“There’s got to be more to me”
I’m trying to pay off the mortgaging
But the life of the people I love in the midst of it
I’ve always thought that if
I learn from mistakes that I’d make
Even the losses are victories
That’s when it starts hitting me
If you set your mind to it you can do anything

[Outro: NF]
That’s an epiphany
That’s an epiphany, yeah
I had an epiphany
I had an epiphany, yeah

Wyclef Jean – Hendrix (J’ouvert Deluxe Edition Album)

[Pre-Hook]
I’ma do this one for my homies gone
The judge hit the hammer they ain’t coming home
We all are from the danger zone
The devil pulled the card and he said choose one
I chose music, my homies chose yay
Some of my ballers chose the NBA
Cuzzo’s on the block, man they gang bang
Funeral parlors makin’ all the change

[Hook]
Yeah when my cousin got his first tec
I was playing Jimi Hendrix in the basement
All I wanted to be was a rock star
And all he wanted to be was an Escobar
El Chapo, Si
El Chapo, Si
All he wanted to do was be El Chapo, Si
El Chapo
El Chapo, Si
All he wanted to do was be El Chapo, Si

[Verse]
Gone ’til November, he ain’t comin’ back
I was talking bout my homies man that sold crack
Caught in the trap, hit from the back
They hid the steel
Like the owl boy that’s hidden on the dollar bill
Welcome to the rotten apple
The city of lights
No matter how days shine
They can’t steal the nights
Cause when the ghost knock knock
Just before you guess, red dot at your chest
The Eagles raid the cuckoos nest
Better be with them artillery packs
They be jumping like Jack when they jump out the box
Ratatatata that’s the sound of the gat
They be flying through the air like vampire bat
Straight from the back when they attack
In the middle o’ night when you up in the trap
You keep on bucking, they bucking you back
In the middle of bucking somebody get flat

[Pre-Hook]
I’ma do this one for my homies gone
The judge hit the hammer they ain’t coming home
We all are from the danger zone
The devil pulled the card and he said choose one
I chose music, my homies chose yay
Some of my ballers chose the NBA
Cuzzo’s on the block, man they gang bang
Funeral parlors makin’ all the change

[Hook]

El Chapo, Si
El Chapo
All he wanted to do was be El Chapo, Si
El Chapo
El Chapo, Si
All he wanted to do was be El Chapo, Si

[Outro]
When he bought me that guitar I felt like Prince the artist
Turn up my guitar
When my cousin got his first tat
Acoustic trappin’ in the basement
All I wanted was to be a rock star

Curren$y – Another Story To Tell Lyrics

Oooh
Who ya’ll talking to
Yeah
Spitta
Yeah
Where haven’t we been yet
FS Jets where haven’t we been yet
Uh
Welcome To The Winner’s Circle nigga
Month after month after month nigga

A nigga never been as fresh as me
I’m fucking with you
But the bad bitches give me my props
Like the newest one that I got
Met her at my Wednesday night spot
Valet park the whip at Harris Casino
Hit the driver with a customary C note
Assembled the crew, blew a half an ounce
Popped a bottle or two
When some NBA niggas in suits came through
One of them played for the Hornets
He had his bitch with him too
I could tell she was on me
Shorty couldn’t keep her eyes off me
To save her life
No ring on her finger so that wasn’t his wife
Not for me to pursue
The bitch would not be right
Left the ball in her court
And she played it smart
Made her way to the bathroom
Slid a piece of paper on my VIP table
In a way so casual
Seven digits written in pink ink
She didn’t leave an area code
I knew she was a local ho
Eye fucking for the rest of the night on the low
Having mind sex right underneath her man’s nose
Hit the bitch with a text
But she couldn’t check her phone in front of man
She waited ’til she made it home
I’m in the room all alone
I heard a text message alert ring tone
Flipped open the celly
The context of the message was the address to her telly
Thought the situation was fishy
But I ignored what I was smelling
But don’t get it twisted
I didn’t head out on a mission
Without calling a bitch
To make sure I had the right idea ’bout this
Cause the last thing I need is a rape charge
From one of these fake broads
Who try to gain access to wreck a niggas bank cards
But fuck all that
Back to the hooper’s ho
In the Chenile sundress on the hotel room floor
Told me that she just want to fuck and smoke with a real nigga
And she only with the other nigga for the dough
I said mama tell me something that I don’t know
We got bent and I broke her back
On and off for a couple of months we did that
The bitch got lost in the swag
Ride me around the city smoking in the man’s whip
Bring the car back smelling like purple grass
I’m surprised he ain’t beat her ass
I know you wanna know how I’m gonna end the story
But I can’t end the story
Cause the story still going
Dude still hooping and his hoes still hoin’
And his ho’s with the planes
And the boy don’t know it
Yeah
Go Hornets
Yeah
FS Jets where haven’t we been yet
Its just rap music man
Welcome to the Winner’s Circle
Its just entertainment
Or is it?
Yeah
For real man

Travi$ Scott – Through The Late Night (feat. Kid Cudi) (Birds In The Trap Sing Mcknight Album)

Hmm, hmm, nah, nah
Mmm, nah, nah, nah, nah
Hmm, hmm, nah, nah
Mmm, nah, nah, nah, nah
Hmm, hmm, nah, nah
Mmm, nah, nah, nah, nah
Hmm, hmm, nah, nah
Mmm, nah, nah, nah, nah

Then we sleep through day then we play all through the late night
Sleep through day then we play all through the late night
Uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, all through the late night
S’il vous plaît, don’t you wait, all through the late night
All through the late night, all through the late night
All through the late night, all through the late night
All through the late night, all through the late night
All through the late night, all through the late night

Blimp’s soarin’, how the hell did I get in this space?
Four in the mornin’, how did I get in this place?
Oh it don’t matter, got smoke, drink, and I’m runnin’ this space
Done contemplatin’, I’mma take it in and groove in this case
And then dimethyltryptamine and lysergic acid diethylamide
The vibes are effervescent, delicious, just how they should be
And then dimethyltryptamine and lysergic acid diethylamide
The vibes are effervescent, delicious, just how they should be
No sleep in my bed, no sleepin’ in my bed
When we gon’ play, gon’ play, gon’ play until the day
I said no sleep in my bed, no sleepin’ in my bed
Yeah, we gon’ play, gon’ play, then we’ll sleep all through the day
And do it again

Sleep through day then we play all through the late night
Sleep through day then we play all through the late night
Uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, all through the late night
S’il vous plaît, don’t you wait, all through the late night
All through the late night, all through the late night
All through the late night, all through the late night
All through the late night, all through the late night
All through the late night, all through the late night

Day and night, I toss and turn
I keep stressin’ my mind, mind
I seek the peace, sometimes I can’t restrain
To join a rage at night, come out and play, play
Balance, find your balance
God said it’s my talent
Sprinkle a little season on the salad
Relieve my heart of malice, hit my palace
Stroke my cactus, ohh, don’t wait
Don’t play (Yea, yea)
Play no games like the NBA
Throwin’ checks like the NBA
You a ring, you a ring
We shootin’ shots like the NRA
Ahh, she jammin’ Travis and Kid Cudi
The new Krayzie Bone and Slim Bun B
Ah, shawty, on the scene, pull up on the scene
Sip my tea, he don’t Hennessy
Aw save all, take it right
Aw take it all, never light
Aw, had a ball, had a night
Aw, after all, sleep good

Sleep through day then we play all through the late night
Sleep through day then we play all through the late night
Uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, all through the late night
S’il vous plaît , don’t you wait, all through the late night
All through the late night, all through the late night
All through the late night, all through the late night
All through the late night, all through the late night
All through the late night, all through the late night

[Bridge: Chris Brown]
I ball out, finna ball out
Been on my shit when you call out

See you wanna ride with me baby

J Cole – Immortal lyrics

[Intro]
Awwwww…haha

[Verse 1]
Now I was barely seventeen with a pocket full of hope
Screamin’, dollar and a dream with my closet lookin’ broke
And my nigga’s lookin’ clean, gettin’ caught up with that dope
Have you ever served a fiend with a pocket full of soap?
Nigga I can tell you things that you probably shouldn’t know
Have you ever heard the screams when the body hit the floor?
Flashbacks to the pain, wakin’ up, cold sweats
Six o’clock in the mornin’, gotta hit the BowFlex
Get my weight up on the block, keep watch for the cops
God they love to serve a nigga three hots and a cot
Nowadays crime pays like a part time job
And the drought got me prayin’ for a Carl Thom vibe
Summer Rain come again
Numb the pain ’cause it’s hard for a felon
In my mind I been cryin’, know it’s wrong but I’m sellin’
Eyes wellin’ up with tears
Thinkin’ ’bout my niggas dead in the dirt
Immortalized on this shirt

[Hook]
Real niggas don’t die
Forward with the plot
One-Seven-Forty-Five
Form at the plot
Real niggas don’t die
Form on the block
Real niggas don’t lie
Form in the plot
My niggas don’t die
Form on the block
Real niggas don’t die
Form on the block
Real niggas don’t die
Real niggas don’t die

[Verse 2]
Have you ever seen a fiend cook crack on the spoon?
Have you ever seen a nigga that was black on the moon?
Have you ever seen your brother go to prison as you cry?
Have you ever seen a motherfuckin’ ribbon in the sky?
Nope, all I see is that C.R.E.A.M nigga, that green
I’m a black king, black jeans on my black queen
And her ass fat, too fat for a flat screen
I’m the type of nigga make the whole fuckin’ trap lean
Kingpin nigga, put wings on a crack fiend
If they want a nigga, they gon’ have to send a SWAT team
And I’m goin’ out like Scarface in his last scene
A legend, what that mean—?

[Hook]
Real niggas don’t die
Forward with the plot
One-Seven-Forty-Five
Form at the plot
Real niggas don’t die
Form on the block
Hood niggas don’t lie
Form on the plot
My niggas don’t die
Form the block
Real niggas don’t die
Form the block
Real niggas don’t die
Real niggas don’t die

[Outro]
To die a young legend or live a long life unfulfilled
Cause you wanna change the world
But while alive you never will
Cause they only feel you after you gone, or I’ve been told
And now I’m caught between bein’ heard and gettin’ old
Damn, death creepin’ in my thoughts lately
My one wish in this bitch make it quick if the Lord take me
I know nobody meant to live forever anyway
And so I hustle like my niggas in Virgini-A
They tellin’ niggas sell dope, rap or go to NBA, in that order
It’s that sort of thinkin’ that been keepin’ niggas chained
At the bottom and hanged
The strangest fruit that you ever seen
Ripe with pain, listen…

Flatbush Zombies – Aries (feat. Deadcuts)

[Hook]
I feel so tired of the lights
Fill the tank with gasoline
One match to burn these chains with ease
I feel so tired of the lights
Fill the tank with gasoline
One match to burn these chains they weave

[Verse 1: Zombie Juice]
It’s like we stuck in a prison
Suffering from lack of wisdom
Suffering from lack of substance
The systems lacking some ism
Since it’s killing the misery
Hope my children remember me
Since I sing songs of symphony
Somethings just gotten into me
Message don’t kill the messenger
Message travel through seven seas
Ghetto passion is classic, been getting lashes for centuries
Aided by mostly separated by color deficiency
Free to you free the shackles my mental strain from my ancestry

[Hook]
I feel so tired of the lights
Fill the tank with gasoline
One match to burn these chains with ease
I feel so tired of the lights
Fill the tank with gasoline
One match to burn these chains they weave

[Verse 2: Meechy Darko]
Emancipation, castration, mass-hating, white washing
Black shaving patience, that I’m demonstrating, ugh
Segregation, separation, take my people, chain my people, ship them out, build a nation, picket lines, demonstration
Kill switch, detonation, this takes dedication
Guess that NBA our reparation governmental medication
The reverse of levitation, they put fluoride in our water
Guess they trying to kill our babies
Hearts racing, cops and robbers car chasing

[Hook]
I feel so tired of the lights
Fill the tank with gasoline
One match to burn these chains with ease
I feel so tired of the lights
Fill the tank with gasoline
One match to burn these chains they weave

[Verse 3: Erick Arc Elliot]
Whatever your purpose is
Hone in and hold your kids
All of this is distractions and nobody notice it
Feeble for knowledge we still in chains
Power tripping for digits we growing it every day
Fighting for freakom ? service with student aid
Can’t afford to be sitting order pills to get paid
Taught to follow the system that institution be prison
These coppers turn me to zombie
I’m walking dead while I’m living

[Hook]
I feel so tired of the lights
Fill the tank with gasoline
One match to burn these chains with ease

[Outro: Erick Arc Elliot]
Break the chain, break the chain
Why the violence is killing our kids and our brother man
Break the chain, break the chain
How police war with no recourse and you on your way
Break the chain, break the chain
Still identify with those who’s have nothing still live in fear
Break the chain, break the chain
Been distracted by the glamor but don’t question why we even here
Break the chain, break the chain
Why the violence is killing our kids and our brother man
Break the chain, break the chain
How police war with no recourse and you on your way
Break the chain, break the chain
Still identify with those who’s have nothing still live in fear
Break the chain, break the chain
Been distracted by the glamor but don’t question why we even here

[Pre-Hook]
I’ma do this one for my homies gone
The judge hit the hammer they ain’t coming home
We all are from the danger zone
The devil pulled the card and he said choose one
I chose music, my homies chose yay
Some of my ballers chose the NBA
Cuzzo’s on the block, man they gang bang
Funeral parlors makin’ all the change

[Hook]
Yeah when my cousin got his first tec
I was playing Jimi Hendrix in the basement
All I wanted to be was a rock star
And all he wanted to be was an Escobar
El Chapo, Si
El Chapo, Si
All he wanted to do was be El Chapo, Si
El Chapo
El Chapo, Si
All he wanted to do was be El Chapo, Si

[Verse]
Gone ’til November, he ain’t comin’ back
I was talking bout my homies man that sold crack
Caught in the trap, hit from the back
They hid the steel
Like the owl boy that’s hidden on the dollar bill
Welcome to the rotten apple
The city of lights
No matter how days shine
They can’t steal the nights
Cause when the ghost knock knock
Just before you guess, red dot at your chest
The Eagles raid the cuckoos nest
Better be with them artillery packs
They be jumping like Jack when they jump out the box
Ratatatata that’s the sound of the gat
They be flying through the air like vampire bat
Straight from the back when they attack
In the middle o’ night when you up in the trap
You keep on bucking, they bucking you back
In the middle of bucking somebody get flat

[Outro]
When he bought me that guitar I felt like Prince the artist
Turn up my guitar
When my cousin got his first tat
Acoustic trappin’ in the basement
All I wanted was to be a rock star
