- His daughter Lindita married Veton Musai a year ago — they were gunned down at their home
- In a long post on Facebook, Mr Musai’s brother described the pair as a “fairytale couple”
Lindita and Veton Musai were gunned down at their Yarraville home after recently celebrating their first wedding anniversary.
Ms Musai, 25, died at the scene, while her husband passed away in hospital the next day.
Ms Musai’s father, Osman Shaptafaj, was also taken to hospital after the shootings.
On Thursday, while still in hospital, Mr Shaptafaj was charged with two counts of murder at a bedside hearing attended by a magistrate, police and lawyers.
The ABC has confirmed there was no application for bail made.
The charges come days after the newlywed couple’s funeral at the Albanian Australian Islamic Society mosque in Carlton.
In a long post to social media before the funeral, Mr Musai’s brother described the pair as a “fairytale couple”.
“People would take notice as soon as you entered a room because of the love you both had for one another,” Drilon Musai wrote.
“You set the benchmark for what a fairytale couple is.”
“I don’t ever think that will be matched. Perfect in every way, both in and out.
“Veton and Lindita, we will always love you, you bought two family’s together who will now always be one because of you.
“We love you, we miss you, your love was endless in life, and now it is endless in death.”
Mr Shaptafaj remains in hospital under police guard.
He will appear at a committal mention at the Melbourne Magistrate’s Court in May.
