Jay-Z Confesses He Used To Forget His Lyrics In The Middle Of His Performance

Jay-Z admitted that he used to forget his lyrics while performing in the beginning.

When you’re a successful rapper with an extensive catalog stocked with complex rhymes like Jay-Z, forgetting your lyrics becomes part of the game. During his appearance on the first episode of the fourth season of HBO’s The Shop: Uninterrupted series with Lebron James, the rapper admitted that the temporary memory loss had befallen him on multiple occasions on stage.

When asked by Lebron if he’d ever get “so zoned out” on stage that he doesn’t even see anyone in the crowd, Jay-Z responded, “In the beginning, I used to get on the stage and just forget all my lyrics,” causing laughter to erupt in the studio among the hosts and guests.

While the admission may sound odd to some, it’s not entirely unusual. Though many rappers pen their own lyrics, they’ve been victims of this momentary lapse in memory a number of times. Young Money superstar Lil Wayne has admitted to forgetting his lyrics quite often for the reason that he and Jay-Z actually have in common – they don’t write them down.

Both rappers have stated in the past that they don’t actually write out their lyrics but rather retain them mentally and then record. In a 2003 interview with Sway, Jay-Z explained, “I think about what I’m going to say,” he said. “I think about what I’m going to do but it’s just never pen to paper. I think it through,” which is poetic in itself.

Back in 2013, who could forget when the 2021 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee completely spaced on the lyrics to his song “No Church in the Wild” during the opening show for the UK leg of his Magna Carta Holy Grail tour in Manchester. The rapper didn’t manage to recover until he got back to the chorus.

Other artists have, of course, had similar experiences forgetting their lyrics on stage, from Kanye West to Rihanna, Justin Bieber, and more. Like Lil Wayne, Eminem also says he has to sometimes google his lyrics to make sure he doesn’t say something he has said before. I guess it’s safe to chalk it up to the perils of having a jampacked catalog spanning decades.

The new season of The Shop: Uninterrupted will air on HBO this Friday (May 28) at 9:30 p.m. EST when Lebron James will host Jay-Z, Bad Bunny, Nneka Ogwumike, and Paul Rivera.

Boosie Badazz Blast O.J. Simpson For Criticizing Lebron James Tweet Re Ma’Khia Bryant’s Death

Boosie Badazz put O.J. Simpson on blast for criticizing Lebron James.

The Baton Rouge rapper has never been one to hold his tongue, especially when it’s regarding social issues such as racism. And when it comes to pro Basketball player LeBron James, he too frequently speaks his mind without caution. On Monday, April 23, Boosie Badazz took to social media to defend James, shortly after he was bashed by O.J. Simpson for a tweet relating to the death of Ma’Khia Bryant.

The 15-year-old was shot and killed by a police officer, and the incident has sparked global outrage. Lil Boosie argued that O.J. Simpson is wrong for telling Lebron to keep quiet about such issues. This online brawl comes as news started to spread that Makiyah Bryant, who was allegedly in a fight with two adult women, during which she called the police for help. Upon their arrival, instead of receiving their aide, she was shot and killed by the police because she was wielding a knife amid the altercation.

This tragic incident happened just a few hours after the world started celebrating as former Minneapolis police Derek Chavin was found guilty of murdering George Floyd on Tuesday, April 20.

O.J. Simpson defended the Ohio officer who shot Bryant and attacked Lebron James for the now-deleted tweet he made telling the officer that he’s next, with the hashtag “ACCOUNTABILITY.”

Lebron later clarified that he deleted the post because it is being used to create more hate, which is not his intention.

“This isn’t about the officer. It’s about the entire system and they always use our words to create more racism,” he said.

On Thursday, April 22, Simpson responded in a video saying, “The police guy had no choice. We wished he could have pulled a Taser but in that incident, if he didn’t do what he did, another young American would have her life taken. I can’t fault what he did. I wish it were different, but I can’t fault it.”

Simpson himself is a popular ex-con who beat criminal charges in 1995, that he killed his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her pal, Ronald Goldman.

“I was cheering for you, we got you free, the black community got you free!” In response to Simpson’s video, Boosie said, practically calling him out for not standing up for the black community.

“O.J. Simpson… How the hell you gonna tell LeBron be quiet ‘bout speaking up our race, you supposed to be speaking up our race….You supposed to be on the front line for this black sh*t,” the rapper said.

Boosie Badazz had previously reacted to the news of Bryant’s shooting, saying, “This shit got me fu**ed up this morning. I’m thinking bout my daughters, bro.”

I’m so damn tired of seeing Black people killed by police. I took the tweet down because its being used to create more hate -This isn’t about one officer.  it’s about the entire system and they always use our words to create more racism. I am so desperate for more ACCOUNTABILITY

ANGER does any of us any good and that includes myself! Gathering all the facts and educating does though! My anger still is here for what happened that lil girl. My sympathy for her family and may justice prevail! ??????

Aka – Monuments Lyrics (feat. Yanga Chief & Grandmaster Ready D)

[Intro]
Ayoburr
Here we go

[Chorus: AKA]
Thinking to myself, what's the reason that I even started making music in the first place
Only thing I needed was some petrol money
Little mami and a fake gold chain
Do you ever look yourself inside a mirror?
God forgive me for my old mistake
Your holy spirit flowing in me like a river
Saint John
King James (Yebo)
Pro Kid (Yebo)
Lebron James (Yebo)
K. Forbes (Yebo)
Bruce Wayne (Yebo)
I got the jacket with the Michael Jackson zipper
Moonwalk
Champagne (Yebo)

[Verse 1: AKA]

All of that drip in your closet, but you can't go outside
Who you gon' show it to? You can't go to Taboo
This ain't no carnival, niggas is vulnerable
You can depend on Vetkuk-Mahoota the rent is due
You need a miracle
I go to Woolworths, come back and feel terrible
It's easy to stay home
When you ain't gotta deal with no domestic abuse
Please count your blessings
Don't be complaining about your Wi-Fi connection
Don't pay attention to them brand influencers
They can't do jack shit because, influenza
I can't relate cause of the standards I put in place
You taking us backwards
I like your beats but all your lyrics is plastic
There's only one Kiernan Jarryd
Ohh you blowin' up?
Fantastic
[Bridge: AKA]
Thinking to myself, what's the reason that I even started making music in the first place
Only thing I needed was some petrol money
Little mami and a fake gold chain (Yebo)

Moonwalk (Yebo)
Champagne (Yebo)
All this competition turned me to a killer (Yebo)
Stay solid (Yebo)

[Verse 2: AKA]
You know this ain't my first rodeo
I don't show love but my photographer Romeo
End of the month, lean on your boy like a Quad
You come up short like it's polio
Spending your dough
Your nose looking like pinocchio
Romany-Creams
That's my portfolio

That was the shit before we heard about Oreo
These type of treats on the reserve for the older folks
You know you gotta get Santi on a lean
How many sugars?
That's how it is
Go boil the kettle
Take care of the kids
My baby you deserve a gold medal
Rose petal, the finer things
[Chorus: AKA]
Thinking to myself, what's the reason that I even started making music in the first place
Only thing I needed was some petrol money
Little mami and a fake gold chain
Do you ever look yourself inside a mirror?
God forgive me for my old mistake
Your holy spirit flowing in me like a river

Drake Working On Lebron James Tribute Song

Drake is currently working on a Lebron James tribute single after the Cleveland Cavaliers star reached a milestone 30,000 points.

King James has been celebrating his achievement all week and the 6 God is catching some Lebron fever after delivering his new Scary Hours EP. Bron’s achievement has been echoing far and wide with a lot of his NBA peers congratulating him and even some folks from inside rap circles have been paying homage to the basketball legend. Drake is taking it a step further by recording a song specifically for Lebron James in honor of his 30,000 points milestone.

“Seems like every time we look up, you’re setting another milestone or breaking another record and I always tell you that you’re one of the most inspirational people in my life,” Drake said in a video posted on Twitter by Bron’s company Uninterrupted. “Every time you do something like this I always try to get in the studio and make the song that would go with the moment.”

Other rappers like JAY-Z, Nas, Diddy among others have also shared their reactions to his 30K points achievement. Drake then picked up the most expensive bottle of wine he could find in his house, a 1961 Petrus which retail for anywhere between $6,000-$25,000. Instead of drinking it he smashed it on the floor. The whole thing looked so fake you can see it in the video below. One thing that is very real in this situation is the song Drizzy is working on. He posted a video on his IG page of himself and his crew taking a studio break while sinking a shot from down town.

Drake also did a bit of history making himself this week when he smash Spotify and Apple Music single day streaming record and it was only from two songs on an EP. Imagine if it was an entire album, something tells me the 6 God is coming for them this year.

Drake Says Lebron James Is One Of His Biggest Inspirations “We’re Brothers”

Drake says Lebron James is not just his brother and friend, but also one of his biggest inspirations.

The 6 God and King James have been friends for years and during a sit-down between the two stars and Chris Bosh, Drizzy made the revelation. Drake and Lebron have teamed up to co-executive produced a documentary film “The Carter Effect” for Toronto Raptors star Vince Carter. “We’re brothers and friends, but you’re one of the biggest inspirations, period, in life,” the Toronto rapper said in the interview via Uninterrupted.

Drake also spoke about Raptors NBA legend Vince Carter effects on the city he calls home. “We all watched greatness,” he said. “When you get to witness that, it’s pretty evident. For me, it was different, it was a time marker, because when Vince was poppin’ in the city, we had nightclubs that seemed larger than life.”

Drizzy went on to say that Carter opened up his eyes to a bigger picture for Toronto. The rapper even spoke about JAY-Z performing in a parking lot at Caribana festival in Toronto which he said was all Vince Carter’s doing. These days Drake is in a league of his own dominating the hip hop charts, selling millions of records globally, and selling out arenas while touring the world. He often reps for his city on every occasion that he gets including on some of his biggest records.
