Bon Iver’s 2007 album For Emma, Forever Ago technically turned 10 last July, but the album didn’t see a proper international release until the band signed to label Jagjaguwar and formally released the album in February 2008. To honor the later release, Justin Vernon and co. held a 10th anniversary performance last night in Milwaukee, where the band performed songs from the treasured album, including a new unreleased song from the era called “Hayward, MI.” During the performance, Vernon dedicates the song to his longtime manager Kyle Frenette, who recently announced his upcoming Congressional run. Allan Kingdom releases his new Single “Thirsty Part 2”
The Canadian born rapper/ song writer has brought different flavors to the rap industry. Since the release of his mix tape back in 2011 the rapper has been increasing in popularity. In 2014, City Pages named Kingdom the best HipHop artist of the year. Back 2017, he collaborated with artist such as Chronixx, DRAM and Gloss Gang.
Kingdom began his music career by performing live in the Twin Cities, Justin Vernon who caught one of his show discovered his talent and introduced him to Kayne West, who at the time was seeking collaborators for a new single. “He was listening to beats from somebody else, he was going through the whole folder and was like nope, next, next, next, next … Then I was supposed to play my music next. I plug up my laptop, play him the first song, it plays all the way through and he’s like, ‘Cool, I like that.’ Then I played him every idea through. Then he says, ‘Well, how much of it can I use?’”
Kayne featured Kingdom on his next single titled “all Day” alongside Theophilus London and Paul McCartney.
