Soulja Boy steps out with new mystery girlfriend amid a sexual assault lawsuit filed by his ex.
The SODMG rapper is being sued by an alleged ex-girlfriend who claims she suffered a miscarriage after she was badly beaten by the rapper. The lawsuit was filed under the pseudonym Jane Doe, as the woman did not wish to reveal her identity. The anonymous ex-girlfriend is reportedly claiming that she was a victim of domestic violence for years during her relationship with the “Crank That” rapper. What made her cup overflow was the alleged loss of her child in 2015 by the hands of her former lover.
The woman claims that Soulja Boy became violent and irate and began punching her in the face and chest until she could not manage to stand. She explains that after falling to the ground due to the impact of his attack, she curled her body to protect her stomach and the child she was carrying while covering her head with her hands. Soulja allegedly continued his abuse by kicking her all over her body and in her stomach, after which she suffered a miscarriage.
The unnamed woman also made reference to other violent attacks carried out by the rapper. She claims that in 2017, Soulja went into another violent rage because he thought she was leaving him. During that incident, she received blows to her face and her breasts. The incident was so severe that the rapper’s security guard had to step in to put an end to the beatdown.
Another incident in 2018 allegedly occurred while the rapper was filming a reality TV series. She says this incident, which was another conversation that turned violent, was caught on the night vision camera. The incident, which was aired on the WeTV network in early 2019, documents the rapper yelling at her during the attack.
The yearly attacks continued in 2019 when Soulja threatened her life as he “tightly gripped” her neck and choked her. This took place after she refused his efforts to revitalize the relationship following her decision to move out of the home she shared with the rapper. These incidents were amplified by the numerous threats the rapper dished out if there was any refusal to have sex.
The woman is now reportedly suing for assault, gender violence, sexual battery, and more. Soulja Boy, whose real name is DeAndre Cortez Way, has had several legal issues over the years, from firearm possession to violating his probation to assaulting a former assistant. The assistant had claimed that Soulja Boy was repeatedly abusive, which the rapper denied.
Soulja Boy has since responded in some tweets he has since deleted. He also shared this photo of himself with a mystery female before quickly deleting it.

DJ Khaled catches some heat again from the Muslim community.
A recent promotional video for one of the songs from DJ Khaled‘s 12th studio album, Khaled Khaled, has plunged him into hot water with the Muslim community. The producer’s integrity and morals are being called into question following the posting of a raunchy video of skimpily-clad women twerking on a yacht.
The video on Khaled’s Instagram was captioned, “Getting a lot calls and the fans asking where the #BODYANDMOTION video at , @josephkahn send me the video get to @samlecca . I’m thinking to let go SOON , it’s on @josephkahn thoe send that ! #KHALEDKHALED #1 album in the country! LETS GO ! Oh yeah #IDIDIT VIDEO ALMOST DONE AS WELL !!!!”
The video itself, which is reportedly from the video shoot of the song “Body In Motion,” was not the problem, but Muslim followers were quick to point out that the video was inappropriate to be posted on the last day of Ramadan. Ramadan is a holy month celebrated by followers of Islam. It’s intended to be a period of reflection, fasting, prayer, and connection with the community.
During Ramadan, Muslims are expected to dress modestly. DJ Khaled, as a practicing Muslim, is expected to follow these guidelines. This explains why the posting of the video angered many of his religious fans.
The aggrieved fans took to the comment section of the post to vent their anger. One upset user wrote, “It’s Ramadan my friend think you forgot,” while another said, “You’re not following your religion very well.”
Some users were also upset that Khaled hadn’t addressed the conflict between Israel and Palestine in a more definitive way. One female user called out the Palestinian descendant (his parents were first-generation immigrants), saying, “You do realize your country Palestine is literally being destroyed by Zionist and you’re on here posting videos of women shaking their assets on the last day of the holy month of Ramadan?”
View this post on Instagram
Earlier that day, Khaled had addressed the situation, posting on his Instagram, “Sending love and light and prayers to my Palestinian brothers & sisters and Everyone around the world,” he wrote. “IM PRAYING FOR PEACE AND LOVE TO THE WORLD , PEACE AND LOVE TO EVERYONE!”
The post was not welcomed by all fans as many thought he was playing it safe and simply patronizing fans. Several users suggested they would be unfollowing the producer because of what they deemed an unsatisfactory response to the attacks on innocent people.
As of midday (May 13), DJ Khaled has not responded to the negative comments and the call for action from his fellow Muslim brothers and sisters. He continues to promote his album and the accompanying music videos. His most recent post on Instagram speaks of his latest accomplishment, his new album Khaled Khaled charting number one on Billboard.

J. Cole kicked off his return to music with a fire freestyle but it didn’t come without controversy.
The Carolina native may have been missing from the scene for a bit, but he clearly didn’t take any time off. J. Cole is the type of rapper who probably writes bars in his sleep, so it was no surprise when he dropped by The LA Leakers to deliver a couple of flawless freestyles over some throwback tracks.
When presented with the instrumentals for Souls of Mischief’s “93 Til Infinity”, Cole didn’t hesitate to pour out his honey smooth flow, quickly getting to the real point—explaining that he knows he’s the best, even if he doesn’t always get the accolades he deserves.
“This is chess better check your board/Who gave the world more fire but got less reward?” he rhymes. “No stress, my only guess is that less is more/More or less, hundred G’s in my dresser drawer.”
He goes on to reference his lavish lifestyle and womanizing tendencies, not untypical of many rap lyrics. However, what is untypical is Cole’s highly elevated wordplay and use of clever callbacks and complicated rhyme schemes.
“Walking contradiction, my description,” he spits, accurately pointing out his ability to be both stereotypical and entirely unique at the same time.
J. Cole goes on to deliver another freestyle that shows off his fast-rapping skills. Although he isn’t necessarily known as one of the quickest spitting rappers in the game, he definitely has flows in his arsenal that would get many other rappers tongue-tied. Rapping over the slow southern beat for Mike Jones’ “Still Tippin”, J. Cole expertly juxtaposes the track’s drawl with a rapid-fire verse that addresses the many ways in which he sets himself apart from other popular rappers, as well as his gratitude for how far he’s come.
For good measure, Cole also throws in a Bill Cosby reference that manages to be cringeworthy and genius at the same time.
Luckily for J. Cole fans, the rapper has much more to offer following these freestyles. His sixth studio album, The Off Season, drops Friday, May 14th.

The Joe Budden Podcast might be coming to a permanent end after Joey exploded and fired Rory before blasting Mal.
It’s not business as usual with hosts of The Joe Budden Podcast, and the show may have come to its end following quite an exchange earlier today, May 12. Many believed that after co-hosts Rory and Mal went on strike, the working relationship had been repaired. That definitely doesn’t seem to be the case after Episode 437: “You Want It To Be One Way.”
Joe Budden has already allegedly taken down the episode just an hour after posting it, but in the age of social media, that was enough time for several recordings of the incident to pop up on Twitter.
In one clip, Budden can be heard complaining about contracts, advertisers, and money. At one point, he says: “You bring it, you eat different, I bring it, I eat different. You ni**ers ain’t brought sh*t.”
Joe Budden goes on to say: “Y’all will not continue to treat me this way. Y’all not going to continue to treat these people this way. Y’all take that f$ckin’ dark energy, that arrogance and entitlement somewhere else. I say all of that to say, we gonna do this since Rory feels like he has so many options,” he’s heard saying.
Later on, he adds: “Somehow he still feels he’s running the show. He still feels like he has choices and options. He feels like he’s entitled to more. Rory, you are in breach of your contract, and from this point forward, you are fired! And you’re not welcome back.
A clearly upset Budden goes on to say: “Mal, I’m the person that has to say that. The gall of you to think you are deserving the way that I am.”
Twitter user @TheDarknessDev posted up the alleged heated confrontation.

It didn’t take long for Joe Budden’s former Everyday Struggle co-host Akademiks to jump on the issue and let his fans know that he’d be speaking on the matter. He Tweeted: “See y’all on twitch today at 3 p.m. Classic stream incoming. I promise.”
Just about two months ago, Rory and Mal went on strike following an argument. The crew recently reunited on April 28. It looks like the dream is over, though as Joe Budden acknowledged that the show was over with a tweet early Wednesday morning, writing, “Helluva run. God bless!”

T-Pain says producers deserve way more credit for their work.
The 35-year-old rapper/producer is calling on music fans to show love to the correct musical maestros with his latest tweet. T-Pain wants listeners to venture beyond the sometimes incoherent lyrical delivery heard on many of his recent releases and give praises to the producers who craft the beats which power several of those modern hits.
“The producers are the ones that deserve all the clout,” he declared before explaining his stance, “because y’all really don’t be liking these songs, y’all really just like the beats. When you hear a certain producer’s tag you don’t give a f***k who’s on it because you know you gon like the beat. give them they flowers fr.”

The “Bartender” singer, who is still active to this day, is armed with at least a decade and a half of experience in the industry, which makes him a perfect spokesperson for the pre-mumble rap era. T-Pain didn’t throw shades at any song or rapper in particular. Nonetheless, he was still forced to defend his assessment in a follow-up post a few hours later.
“Notice I said “y’all don’t be liking THESE songs” y’all know what f__kin songs I’m taking about. If I was talking about any other era I would’ve said “THOSE songs” we on the same page but y’all ain’t reading between. Feel me?.”

While it’s hard to pinpoint who exactly started the mumble-rap movement, many have credited Future with the deed through his 2012 track “Tony Montana.” The rapper has previously revealed that he was under the influence while recording the song and has slurred his words. The trend has been adopted by a host of new hip-hop talents all across the world, and his showing no signs of slowing down.
The breakout hit that was produced by Will A Fool not only earned Future a promising Drake collab but also a place in hip-hop history. Sadly, the name Will A Fool doesn’t get the same recognition as Future. Nearly a decade has passed since the release of “Tony Montana,” yet Pain’s beckoning of fans to provide producers with the same love they show rappers is still prevalent.
Hopefully, his latest tweet will result in the likes of JetsonMade, Metro Boomin, SethInTheKitchen, J. White Did It, Wheezy, Supah Mario, Brandon Finessin, Section 8, 30 Roc, Take a Daytrip, ChopsquadDJ, Earl on the Beat, Tay Keith, and a host of others being household names.
Do you think producers should get more credit for hit songs?
Teejay and Gyptian link up for a new party anthem.
Summer is on, so call up a friend! Unsure of just how to spend your time during the lockdown this summer? Teejay, Gyptian, and Bremmy FZ have teamed up for a laidback, melody-filled song and video which explains just how to ensure those hot summer days are filled with loads of fun.
The Uptop Boss and Gyptian make a luxurious house/villa their adult playground. The handful of natural-bodied females parading around the venue engage in everything from a game of pool to chillin’ by the pool. Island themes, button-downs, shorts, bikinis, and drinks flowing in abundance mark the order of the day, and the men behind the lends, David P, and director Angelo B capture every moment of it.
While summer is known for its numerous parties and outdoor events, that may not be the reality for Jamaica in 2021. The island, which is revered for its laidback attitude and musical offerings, has been experiencing islandwide curfews for more than a year as the deadly Covid-19 virus rages on. One thing that cannot be denied is the warm feeling you get whenever it is summertime. Teejay, Gyptian, and Bremmy FZ are searching for that and more from their female counterparts in this Towerhill Records Production.

Producer JetsonMade explains why he opted to work with J. Cole instead of Rihanna.
Many of music’s biggest producers would have possibly sold a kidney to secure a collaboration with Rihanna, but not JetsonMade. The young beatmaker
recently revealed that when the bad gal summoned him, he decided to pass on the opportunity, opting to work with J. Cole instead.
JetsonMade was chatting it up on a recent interview when he made the big reveal.
“I was really supposed to go work with Rihanna. I swear to god, I skipped out on that shit to go work with Cole,” he said before showing love to both parties. “Shout out to Rihanna though, I hope we can get in there. It was more personal. Cole reached out to me personally, I was at this man’s house, like, f**k that, I’m going with this n***a.”
Jetson has been making extensive strides in his career over the last couple of years through his work with DaBaby, having produced the rapper’s breakout single “Suge.” His credits now include the likes of “What’s Poppin,” which featured Jack Harlow, as well as work from Roddy Ricch, Playboi Carti, and Youngboy Never Broke Again.
J. Cole is considered one of the industry’s greatest song writers, and with the release of his latest album only days away, the spotlight is firmly on the “Workout” rapper. Jetson has also been cast into the limelight for his work on Cole’s recent release “Lion King On Ice.”

Many have applauded the 23-year-old producers for his recent accomplishment. However, they felt that a RiRi collab would have been more impactful to his career and could possibly help with breaking into the Pop realm. Still, others have hinted that while this means that Rihanna is working on new music and could be releasing her R9 project, it doesn’t guarantee that his production would be selected from the many others on her chopping block.

Lapattra Jacobs, one of NBA YoungBoy‘s baby mothers, has disclosed that she would have still been in a relationship with the rapper if she had not been attacked and stabbed by Iyanna Mayweather last year.
Jacobs was hospitalized with severe stab wounds inflicted by Mayweather, who at the time was NBA YoungBoy‘s girlfriend. The knife attack happened in April of last year at YoungBoy’s Houston home, where Mayweather caught the young rapper and Jacobs, who was reportedly pregnant at the time with his child.
An altercation ensued that left Jacobs nursing wounds and Yaya looking to face some time in prison. After the incident, Mayweather was released on $30,000 bail and was ordered to stay at least 1,000 feet from Jacobs.
A few months after the incident, Lapattra took to Instagram Live to show her wounds, noting that she could not fully extend her arm that was sitting in a cast from her elbow. She also later removed the cast to show her followers that her hand lacked mobility.
On Monday, May 10, Jacobs went live on Instagram, seemingly healed from the wounds that were inflicted but still somewhat scarred from the incident. During her Live, she discussed her relationship with YoungBoy.
“He’s still young, so he ain’t ready to settle down. In my mind, I know cause I’m older than him so I know a young person really not ready to settle down,” she said.

However, she added that even though she was aware that he was for the streets at the time, she would have still been “low key” with the rapper if she was not attacked.
Yaya, who is the daughter of the famous boxer Floyd Mayweather, had been in a tumultuous relationship with YoungBoy since the end of 2018. She welcomed their son Kentrell Jr. in January this year and is still showing loyalty to her baby daddy. Reports are that the father of seven should be welcoming his eight with his ‘former’ girlfriend, Jazlyn Mychelle. The two reportedly rekindled during the rapper’s time in jail. YoungBoy is currently in police custody after he was arrested in March on felony charges, following a wild pursuit in Los Angeles. He is currently awaiting trial.
In celebration of his twelfth studio album Khaled Khaled, Jay-Z has gifted DJ Khaled a limited edition bottle of D’ussé cognac. Khaled showed off the gift in a video on his Instagram page this morning (May 8).
In the video captioned, “Thank you JAY-Z @rocnation @dussecognac,” Khaled says, “Big up my brother Jay-Z, he just sent me a good beautiful gift. It says enjoy this one of a kind D’ussé 1969 Anniversary Limited Edition bottle of cognac – from JAY.”
He continues, “this is beautiful, look at the packaging. Look at this, that’s one thing about Jay-Z, he’s gonna do it right. He gone do it iconic. He gone do it classy. He gone do it like timeless.”
He further commented on the high quality of the gift while thanking his recent collaborator. D’ussé is a French-made cognac and a subsidiary of the Bacardi brand, which Jay-Z is part owner.

Earlier this month, Jay-Z also gifted Lebron James his own limited edition bottle. Lebron posted a video of the gift on his Instagram page while thanking the rapper.
D’ussé cognac special edition bottles are worth thousands of dollars. A signed bottle of the 1969 Anniversaire edition reportedly sold for $52,000 at a Sotheby’s auction back in March.
DJ Khaled’s album has already been racking up numbers on all major platforms. In the first week of its release, the album secured 95,000 album equivalent sales. It is expected to debut at number 1 atop the Billboard 200 chart.
“Khaled Khaled” features 29 rappers and singers on 13 songs. The featured acts include Jay-Z, Justin Timberlake, and Nas. Several Dancehall acts such as Bounty Killer, Beenie Man, and Buju Banton are also featured.
Several of the album’s music videos were filmed on location in Jamaica. Khaled has so far released six music videos while promising that more are on the way.
Lil Uzi Vert and JT only recently went public with their romance, but the rappers are now ready to flaunt their relationship with a sexy photoshoot.
Posing for a new magazine cover, the couple appeared on Arena Homme+ in their underwear. The picture shows JT lovingly stroking Uzi’s chest and stomach as she gazes up at him with adoration. Lil Uzi Vert, on the other hand, wears a digitally enhanced diamond on his forehead and a look of vague confusion. While the picture was a big step for their relationship, the cover seems to have inspired more questions than congratulations.
The first and most obvious detail of the photograph that has fans confused is the unrealistic height difference between Uzi and JT. Uzi is known to be fairly short, maybe only a few inches taller than JT. However, the photo makes him out to be at least a foot taller than his girlfriend. Fans spotted the difference immediately, posting the glaring question, “What they got him standing on?”
Other people were too distracted by Uzi’s face to notice the height debacle. He does appear to have a dumbfounded expression and his face almost seems out of place entirely. “Why it look like they photo shopped his head on his body,” asked one person. “He couldn’t make another face,” remarked another.
View this post on Instagram
The somewhat odd picture was not the only published photo from the Homme+ shoot, however. The fashion magazine also featured a closeup of Uzi, a rapper who has earned his title as a hip hop fashion icon.
It is not uncommon for rappers to receive criticism when they venture into the world of high fashion, and this may just be another instance of a visual aesthetic flying over the heads of some music fans. Either way, JT and Uzi seem to be lucky in love and there is nothing wrong with showing off their good fortune.

After years of hitmaking and trendsetting, Nicki Minaj decided to take a well-earned break from her explosive career to spend time with her new husband and baby boy. Since her conspicuous absence from music, fans have continuously expressed their eagerness for new material. However, not everyone agrees that it is the right time for the Barbz to return to the rap game.
On a recent episode of The Joe Budden Podcast, Joe, Rory, and Mal debated about Nicki’s return to the scene after reviewing DJ Khaled’s newly dropped project, Khaled Khaled.
Confident that the world is ready for a Nicki Minaj comeback, Mal declared, “It’s time. It’s time for a Nicki album.” Joe Budden was clearly surprised by Mal’s opinion, replying, “Did you not just hear everything we said about Khaled dropping during COVID? You want Nicki to drop right now?”
Clarifying that his opinion doesn’t necessarily reflect poorly on Nicki, Joe added, “Nicki, I love you, I wish you and your family well, and that’s what I got.” It seems Budden thinks that dropping an album right now is a poor business decision, but Minaj fans are likely to disagree.
Many people in the hip hop world have been discussing Nicki Minaj’s place in music recently, particularly since critics and influencers have a hard time not pitting female rappers against each other. Since we are beginning to see increasingly more women rappers have just as much success as their male counterparts, fans and industry commentators are also more tempted to rank and categorize the ladies of rap instead of seeing them as the dynamic and multi-faceted forces that they are.
However, rapper Russ recently took to Twitter to make a strong point about the timing of Nicki Minaj’s career, saying, “Imagine if TikTok was out during Nicki Minaj blowin up era…numbers woulda been astronomical lmao. Did it on em, only, anaconda, twerk it, FEELING MYSELF Man, soooo many like bruh lmao sh*t was already outta here but that woulda been insane lol.”
It’s true that Nicki has some of the most memorable and highly animated rap songs of the last couple decades, so it is easy to imagine the endless TikTok dances she would have inspired. But of course, it is never too late to make a Nicki Minaj track go viral on TikTok!

Meek Mill son with Milano is flexing his jewelry and designer gears.
On the eve of his first birthday, Meek Mill is celebrating his baby boy. The rapper took to Instagram to celebrate the significant milestone today (May 5). In the celebratory post shockingly accompanied by a photo of Czar, Meek said, “Happy bday czar love you tomar your first big day!!!! [diamond emojis] can’t wait to see you love you!!!” Czar is pictured wearing a white button-front shirt that is open, blue jeans, Burberry bucket hat, and diamond chains.
The baby boy is Meek Mill’s son from a short-lived relationship with entrepreneur and designer Milan Harris, also known as Milano. The two secretly dated for several months before it was revealed that she was carrying the rapper’s child. Unfortunately, they separated shortly after the child’s birth in July of last year.
Addressing the breakup, Meek Mill at the time said, “Me and Milano decided to remain friends and build our child as separate parents … we still have mad love for each other but we both came to a understanding.”
View this post on Instagram
He added, “no fall out either just moving forward! Still love! This for protection so social media wont think we moving wrong.”
Prior to dating Milano, Meek Mill dated Nicki Minaj. The couple dated for two years before breaking it off in 2016. Minaj subsequently married Kenneth Petty in October 2019. They recently welcomed a baby boy of their own last September.
Czar is Meek’s third child. The rapper has two sons – Murad and Rihmeek from a previous relationship.
Czar shares his birthday with his dad, who will be turning 34 years old tomorrow. In announcing the birth of his baby boy last year, Meek mentioned that they shared a special bond. He tweeted, “Milano dropped me off a king on my birthday! #thebestgift”
Fans have joined in with Meek Mill in celebrating his son. One Instagram user commented, “Awww he look like Papi… happy birthday big boy.” Another commented, “He’s so adorable [heart emojis].”
Fans also highlight that this is the first time they’ve gotten a glimpse of the baby. They have now gone on to speculate that Meek and Milano must be having a fallout as they doubt she granted him permission to post the photo. Since his birth, Milano has made it a point to disguise the baby’s identity in photos.
Either way, we’re all glad we finally got to set our eyes on their adorable baby boy. Happy birthday, Czar!
The U.S. Attorney for the District of Massachusetts has filed another charge against G Herbo as his fraud case gets underway.
G Herbo, whose real name is Herbert Wright III, has been charged for lying and failing to notify authorities that he is familiar with one of his co-defendants in the ongoing fraud case. Herbo allegedly lied to a federal agent while he was being interviewed.
According to the authorities, Herbert Wright III, also known as Herbo, Lil Herb and G Herbo-(his most common rap moniker), and ‘Herbert Light,’ “knowingly and willfully made the following materially false, fictitious and fraudulent statements and representations in a matter within the jurisdiction of the executive branch of the Government of the United States, that is, during a voluntary interview with a special agent of the United States Secret Service and a special agent of the (FBI),” the document reads, according to The Shade Room.
The co-defendant in question is Antonio Strong, who is a known friend and business associate of G Herbo. The charges read that G Herbo did not tell the federal agent interviewing him that he gave Strong money nor that he received anything of value from him, and he also denied a direct connection to Strong.
The FBI alleges that G Herbo and Strong have been friends since 2016, and the two shared a close relationship with frequent contact. It is also alleged that he gave Strong money and received “private jet charters, luxury accommodations, and exotic car rentals” from him in exchange.
Now, the authorities are moving to connect the current charge against Herbo to the original fraud case. There should be no issues with doing this, as Herbo had signed an earlier document approving this. It’s unclear what his defense position is regarding the new charge.
The rapper is slated to return to court as he answers to the charges, which alleged that he is part of a multimillion fraud ring that used stolen credit card information to pay for luxury items, including a lavish vacation to Jamaica last year. His ex-girlfriend Ari Fletcher is reportedly a prosecution witness in the case.
DJ Akademiks is often known for saying controversial things. Some of his rants often irk the personalities he discusses, and now it seems that he is rehashing an old rumor about Gucci Mane’s wife that fans of the rapper are not happy about.
In a discussion, DJ Akademiks brought up that Keysha Ka’oir allegedly slept with Yo Gotti while Gucci Mane was locked up. He used that alleged rumor as an example to set the tone for his discussion as he asked his co-panelist how they would react to their wife’s past if it was similar.
“all these n****s up in here can’t get over a girl’s past. Gucci had to. Would yall get over your girl’s past that she F**d a n***a… would yall wife- let’s put it to a random girl, like Shaquesha, you wifing Shaquesha if you get locked up and she fucks your man who lives across town that yall kinda OK but I ain’t saying yall off but she knows y’all homies a lil bit?” he asked.
The respondents to the discussion did not agree with Akademiks that there would be a problem with being with a woman like that. However, another person can be heard saying “shoutout to Gucci Mane’s wife as he believed she was a different type of woman and didn’t belong in that conversation.
A woman can also be heard joining the conversation and is heard saying they should use another couple in the industry as Keysha Ka’oir is not in the industry. However, Akademiks didn’t agree with the woman.
“Hold on now, I’ma be really respectful as I talk about this. Because if we really talking about Gucci and his wife, a lot of yall n****a know Gucci is wildin’, Y’all know allegedly Gucci wife while he was locked up slept with Yo Gotti. Right? Allegedly,” he emphasized.
“That’s why he cussed Angela Yee out if y’all noticed Let me ask y’all now, Gucci’s wife is a queen I agree but all y’all n***gas up in here can’t get over a girl’s past but Gucci had to. Would y’all get over y’all girl’s past?”
Akademiks goes on to say that at the time of the alleged incidents he is speaking of, “Gucci was f***ing mad bitches but the girl he was always gonna settle down for that he had extra shit for was Keysha Ka’oir. Anyway…he wasn’t with the whole time, he was also running around a little and when she decided to do her a little bit she was with allegedly-Yo Gotti. Most of Y’all demonize any firl that was ever with another rapper that y’all can recognize. Gucci married this girl because he realized she was a good girl who held it down and who also helped him out with a lot of shit. Y’all couldn’t get over that,” he said.
Akademiks later clarified that the pair was not together when Keysha allegedly was involved with Yo Gotti.
It’s unclear what the entire conversation was about and why Akademiks chose to bring Gucci Mane and Keysha Ka’oir up in the conversation. A 10-minute screen recording of Akademiks YouTube channel was posted on a Reddit thread as fans discussed how long they thought before Guwop went after Akademiks for disrespecting his wife.
The other part of the conversation also discussed Saweetie and Quavo’s break up and the material things in the relationship, such as the Birkin bags and the luxury cars he gifted to her.
Later in the conversation, Akademiks also went on to discuss how much Keysha Ka’oir helped Gucci Mane as he went through jail for seven years, his rehab journey or even using his money to invest so that he can have money when he returned from jail.
“Gucci is a demon he prolyl f**ked every girl in the industry, she got past that…he gotta atleast get past that because she didn’t cheat. They weren’t together. Gucci was in the streets. So I can’t knoc Gucci for that. You know how hard it is to get a chick that’s gonna hold you down despite the other bullshit? You can find any girl to f***k but you won’t a girl who gon hold you down when you can’t physically there, who gon make sure your mama taken care.”
Spice new mega collab with Sean Paul and Shaggy already hit 2.5 million views on YouTube in a mere days after its release.
The Queen of Dancehall is confident that her latest track, “Go Down Deh“, has Grammy award-winning potential. The track, which features Grammy-winning artists Shaggy and Sean Paul, became the number one streamed song on Youtube in Jamaica within 24 hours of its premiere. Since ascending to the top, it’s remained at that spot. This is her second track to do so well off her upcoming album TEN. “Frenz” was also well received.
Spice spoke with the Jamaica Star and expressed how happy and appreciative she was that the song was well-received by fans. She also said that the song was supposed to be released last year, but they held off because of the pandemic.
“We were supposed to release the song in 2020, but due to the pandemic, we decided to hold back and wait until this year. There was so much heartache, trauma and sadness last year, it just wasn’t a time to celebrate and dance, and that’s what the song is about,” she said.
She added that she was very excited to release the track because of her talented colleagues. “Mi did excited bad bout it, though, because this is Sean Paul and Shaggy on the same track. They are two of the genre’s living legends, and so I knew what a banger this song would have been,” she continued.
Spice has benefitted from Sean Paul’s call for unity in dancehall and said that she was very proud to have both veteran artists on the track. The “Tables Turn” singer also said that many times when artists look for collaborations, they tend to think of international acts instead of Jamaican talent.
“We always look to working with artistes from different genres, but I want us to realise that we have legends in our own genre that [we] should be celebrating. It meant so much reaching out to these two mega artistes and working with them,” she said.
She expects big things from the album, which will be released via VP Records, with who she doesn’t have a very good relationship with. She also thanked Shaggy for the role that he played in producing the album.
“We are in a better space now thanks to Shaggy, who intercepted and offered to be the producer for the album. I can’t say how much it means to me having his support.” She added: “Also, given the fact that they are two completely different tracks on two different topics, the album is going to be very versatile.”
50 Cent shared a photo of himself in Juvenile Detention when he was 15 years old while alluding to his troubled past.
The rap icon is among one of the most successful rappers turned businessmen in the music industry, and his artistic ability is just beginning as his creative genius as a television producer shows how multitalented he is.
50 Cent‘s journey, though, has not been without its challenges that are not exactly unique to him as an African American man. The rapper delved into the past as he shared an earlier memory as a teenager when he was in a Juvenile Detention Center.
The “Get Rich or Die Tryin’” rapper posted a throwback photo of himself at a juvenile detention center when he was just 15 years old.
In the caption, 50 Cent reflected on the harsh childhood he experienced growing up in South Jamaica, Queens, New York, a neighborhood that is plagued by gang violence and drug dealing that led to his earlier decisions in life. He also paid tribute to his late grandmother, who was there for him.
“Yo i was 15 in this picture,” he wrote. “on the South Side you have to grow up faster. I made a lot of mistakes I was already in juvie, I remember my Nana coming to see me, she is my angel. she love me unconditionally.”

The rapper has spoken about his past many times, even as he is now an inspiration for many people. His life was one characterized by hardship. He was raised by his mother, a drug dealer who later died in a fire while he was 8 years old. He was then raised by his grandmother and began boxing at a neighborhood gym at 11 years old. But his life wasn’t as simple as it sounded. At 12 years old, he was selling crack cocaine even as his grandparents thought he was in after-school programs.
While that became a constant part of his life, he was also his grandmother’s “baby” as he once said when talking about toughing it out in the streets at his age but being loved by his grandmother. In 2015, he spoke about living with his grandmother – “I was outside hustling but I still had to talk my grandmother into letting me walk home from school myself. I said to her ‘Look, I’m bigger than you know.’”
His grandmother passed away in 2014, and he noted that her death had a phenomenal impact on him. “she was the love of my life.”
He has also shared many hilarious moments he shared with his grandmother with his fans, including one in a tweet while he was at her house and she made him take out the trash- “I can’t [believe] my grand mothers [sic] making me take Out the garbage. I’m rich f**k this I’m going home I don’t need this sh*t.”
J. Cole is in The Off-Season mode.
The highly anticipated album will be released on May 14th, according to the latest announcement from the Dreamville rapper. J. Cole has been teasing the album The Off Season for the past few weeks, but this is the most conclusive message we have to date that the project is finally coming. He highlighted his long absence, saying that the album has been years in the works.
“Just know this was years in the making,” Cole tweeted on Tuesday (May 4th) while sharing the cover art of himself standing beside a burning basketball hoop. “My new album The Off-Season available everywhere 5/14.”
Fans are already trying to decode the burning hoop. Last week Friday (April 30th), J. Cole gave fans a rare update on the project via his Instagram Story. Needless to say, he appears quite upbeat about what he heard, saying, “Just rode through the city to The Off-Season. Dawg… Too excited.”
Just know this was years in the making.

— J. Cole (@JColeNC) May 4, 2021
The Off-Season is the follow-up to J. Cole’s 2018 album KOD, which saw huge commercial success despite not a single feature being on the album. It will be interesting to see if this project will have any guest features. Don’t hold your breath for that either.
KOD has since been certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) after selling more than a million copies by the end of 2018.
The Off-Season is perhaps the most anticipated hip-hop album this year, along with Drake’s forthcoming project, Certified Lover Boy, which has yet to receive a release date. This is shaping up to be a clash of the titans as both Drake and J. Cole have been at the top of the game over the past decade, although we can argue Drizzy more so than any other rapper.
When you can’t beat them, join them. It seems dancehall singjay Jada Kingdom has decided to follow this old adage in hopes of getting away from her current record label. She’s reportedly found a loophole that she believes will help her to start back releasing new music as she continues to battle against her former manager.
Earlier this year, in February, she opened up about some of the obstacles she was facing. She also let fans know that she wouldn’t be releasing music anytime soon, mostly because of what she called “industry politics” and a lack of management.
The “Green Dreams” singer has somehow found a way to put out new music. She elatedly shared the news with her followers on Instagram yesterday (May 3).
“Since I can’t release any new music yet, mi aguh remix some of my fav songs right now,” she wrote in an Instagram Story. “Let’s go crazy!” she added. She also revealed what the first remix would be.
Jada shared that the first remix, due any day now, will be “D’yani’s Feelings,”. As with most loopholes, there’s a catch. “The artist of the original song will be uploading my remix,” Jada Kingdom said, before adding “YOUTUBE ONLY. Badmind yuh cyah stop mi!!!”
Jada Kingdom received a lot of media attention recently, mostly because of an ongoing legal battle with her former management team, Pop Style. She was with the company for the last four years. Even though it’s not clear when they became angry with each other, the company has already filed a defamation lawsuit against the artist. The lawsuit, which was filed last month, claims that she allegedly made libelous remarks about them during an Instagram Live video.
During that Live, Jada shared her excitement about having found a new management team.
“Mi excited fi see how everything a go turn out. Mi cya wait fi drop new music,” she said. “Mi waiting, just ready fi go crazy as I should have been doing from day f**king one… There’s just so much sh*t and how mi get by is creating music, laughing, see the good inna everything regardless. Everything a go work out,” she continued.
It seems that Drake forgets how strange real names can sound especially when it doesn’t match up to the music persona and monikers artists choose for themselves.
In a lighthearted comment, Drake poked fun at Moneybagg Yo‘s real name as the rapper shared that Music Choice was playing his Billboard No. 1 album A Gangsta’s Pain where they also revealed his real name.
Moneybagg Yo was not amused by that move by Music Choice, which asked, “DID YOU KNOW? Moneybagg Yo’s real name is Demario Dewayne White Jr.”
“Police as hell… what the f*** wrong with y’all, Music Choice? Get this s**t right. Appreciate the love but damn! Talking about, did y’all know his real name?”
Never mind, the information might satisfy curious fans. Some folks thought the reaction was funny, including Drake, who poked fun at his names. “DD White mayne” Drake posted on an Akademiks post of Moneybagg Yo’s video along with four laughing emojis.

Fans, though, were quick to check Drake, whose real name is Aubrey Graham. Of course, Drake’s name has been the butt of many jokes and the source of quite a few hilarious memes on the internet, especially as his earlier acting career surfaced. Many felt that his name gave him a sort of “softie” look that some even tried to use it to diminish his musical achievements.
However, the rapper has said that aside from being the second most memed person after the Michael Jordan crying face, he doesn’t mind the jokes even if they’re on him as he likes to laugh at a good joke.
“I like laughing even if it’s at my expense. It doesn’t feel like it’s necessarily malicious or hurtful stuff. I’m conscious of it,” he said during an Instagram interview in 2016.
Yungeen Ace is continuing to deny that he had a run-in backstage with fellow rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine during the rapper’s concert.
In and Instagram live stream with DJ Akademiks, 6ix9ine claimed that Florida rapper Yungeen Ace was backstage his show in Miami last week. 6ix9ine also claimed that the rapper, who he’s had beef with, walked right by him and did not step to him.
The beef between the two first started when Yungeen Ace called out Tekashi 6ix9ine for snitching and said he didn’t respect him. Ace did make a point, however, that he would work with 6ix9ine if given the opportunity as it was just business. Needless to say, the comment didn’t sit well with Tekashi, who was recently released from prison after serving a reduced sentence in exchange for his testimony which implicated several members of his former gang.
Speaking in the interview with DJ Akademiks, Tekashi said, “F*ck all that. Yungeen Ace was at my show yesterday. F*ck all of the things that we talking about. Street rappers were at my show yesterday. If they want the static, I was there. He was at the show. He was backstage, he seen me, everything.”

The “Who I Smoke” rapper responded to Tekashi on his Instagram story, sharing the post with 6ix9ine’s claim and writing, “Mann dis ni**a so cap bra [laughing emoji]..wdf.”
Yungeen Ace’s denial story was sadly short-lived, as DJ Akademiks, who the rapper has also had beef with, later dug up a photo that showed the rapper was indeed at the Trillerfest event where Tekashi performed.
Yungeen Ace later explained the encounter in a live stream, saying he did see Tekashi, but the encounter did not quite happen how 6ix9ine said it did.
In the video, Ace said, “that ni**a was scared as f**k man.. then the nigga said he ain’t know me but he seen me in there. These ni**as trippin. This ni**a was in a car. This ni**a rolled past only time I seen this guy.”
View this post on Instagram
Ace went on to say that Tekashi was masked up, with his chains tucked, and he was basically hiding in his car.
Fans have since been calling out Ace, stating that he’s a straight-up liar. One user commented, “Thought he wasn’t there?” while another added, “You said you never seen him.”
On the other hand, one Tekashi 6ix9ine supporter declared, “THEY ALL TALK HOT ON THE INTERNET BUT CAN’T EVEN TOUCH HIM IN REAL LIFE.”
Fans are now anxiously awaiting 69’s response to the ‘he said, he said’ saga.
Comments by Jay-Z in a 2010 interview have gone viral that the rapper “regrets” the lyrics in his single “Big Pimpin’.”
However, while many news outlets ran with the headlines, it seems that those comments are misconstrued from an old interview by Jay-Z done in 2010. Of course, of late, most of the news about Jay-Z surrounds his business acumen and financial moves, including the latest sale of his share in Tidal to Jack Dorsey’s Square.
He has also been trending on Twitter for his performance on DJ Khaled’s latest album “Khaled Khaled’. Now, it seems that fans are concerned that the rapper could be regretting the lyrics to one of his biggest singles at the heights of his career.
One news article on the internet said the rapper “regretted” his Big Pimpin’ lyrics. It cited Beyonce’s husband and father of three, saying he can’t believe he said those things. However, at no point did Jay-Z ever say that. The internet was abuzz with discussions about the purported “regrets” as they proclaimed their love for the song.
However, the interview that the news article actually referred to is one done in 2010 with the Wall Street Journal in which Jay-Z talked about his book Decoded as well as his songwriting skills. At no point did he ever say he regretted making the song or using those lyrics, a dedicated fan page pointed out.
It added that HOV has also performed the songs many times over the past years since the song’s release.
A snippet of the interview online was posted where the Wall Street Journal asked Jay-Z, “you’re famous for not writing your lyrics down as you compose them. What changes about them when you see them on the page like this?”
Jay-Z is then quoted replying: “Some [lyrics] become really profound when you see them in writing. Not ‘Big Pimpin’. That’s the exeption. It was like I can’t believe I said that. And kept saying it. What kind of animal would say this sort of thing? Reading it is really harsh,” he said.
It appears that Jay-Z was saying he was shocked at seeing the lyrics actually on paper. But while some were quick to call the rapper misogynistic for the lyrics, others instead focused on the fact that he did not, in fact, say he regrets them as was reported by the online news publication.
Meanwhile, some fans praised the song as one of the biggest rap tunes ever made, while some also condemned the rapper for the lyrics, which seemed to promote the ill-treatment of women.

This is being reported as new when it's actually from a 2010 Wall Street Journal interview where JAY-Z talked about his book Decoded and his songwriting. No where did he say he regrets making "Big Pimpin'"

Jay-Z is 51 year old married father of 3 kids, it makes sense for him to regret Big Pimpin. It’s still my favorite hit single from him though.

According to Genius here is a portion of Jay-Z’s verse on “Big Pimpin.”
You know I thug ’em, f*** ’em, love ’em, leave ’em
‘Cause I don’t f***in’ need ’em
Take ’em out the hood, keep ’em lookin’ good
But I don’t f***in’ feed ’em
First time they fuss I’m breezin’
Talkin’ bout, “What’s the reasons?”
I’m a pimp in every sense of the word, bitch
Better trust than believe ’em
In the cut where I keep ’em
‘Til I need a nut, ’til I need to beat the guts
Then it’s, beep beep and I’m pickin’ ’em up
Let ’em play with the dick in the truck
Many chicks want to put Jigga fist in cuffs
Divorce him and split his bucks
Just be’cause you got good head, I’m a break bread
So you can be livin’ it up?
Govana and Fivio Foreign drop the visual for their new collaboration, “Movie.”
While Jamaica remains under curfew, the dancehall hitmaker traveled to Brooklyn to shoot the video with fast-rising New York rapper Fivio Foreign. The JLShotThat-directed cut saw Govi pulling up to a block party where Fivio and his crew were enjoying refreshments with plenty of females strutting their stuff. The cut was shot last month, and the two artists have been teasing it over the past several weeks.
“See me out with me army we do this all day / Nineties to conace nah say floss yeah / Hallow tip in a the cartridge fi the 40 / Me a roll with some Haitians so braff yeah / Get paid in six figure tell a b*tch ni**a / Next time address me by me last name,” Govana spits.
Govana has cemented himself as one of the leading artists of the current generation of dancehall acts. The 4th Genna deejay has been steadily building out his catalog over the past few years while showing both class and experience anytime he decides to put out a record.
Fivio Foreign spent the last decade steadily building a name for himself in the hip hop scene. He was originally known as Lite Fivio while rapping in the underground scene in New York, but would later change his name to Fivio Foreign in 2013. The move proved to be good for the now 31-year-old rapper who has since scored some big hits, including his appearance on Drake’s “Demons” last year, which peaked at 34 on the Hot 100 chart.
Moneybagg Yo has the number one album out now.
The Tennessee rapper has a lot to celebrate as the rapper is riding high on his latest album’s success. As of Monday, A Gangsta’s Pain is No. 1 on Billboard’s 200 album chart. The album debuted last week and has quickly sold 110K equivalent album units in just a week. The project has also received 147.4 million streams and around 3,000 traditional sales.
The 22-track album is his first Billboard No. 1 album and has been a goal for the rapper since his last Billboard spot at No. 3 in 2020 with his album “time served”. Moneybagg Yo reacted to the news on Twitter as he thanked his fans for their support.
“#1 Album In Da World Mannnnee Dis Shit Feel Crazy, I’m Forever Grateful For This!” he said. “Without My Fans and My Team I Wouldn’t Be Shit ! God Working Thank Y’all I Promise To Neva Let Up !! #DeluxeOTW #BreadGang.”

The Memphis native has been on a roll as his latest caps off his 11th album to chart within the top 25 of Billboard. The singles of the album are also performing well, with “Time Today” at the No. 37 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
While celebrating the success of his latest project, Moneybagg Yo asked fans for prayers after revealing that his mother contracted covid-19 and pneumonia. Fans rally over the weekend to send the Memphis rapper and his family a lot of prayers. Thankfully he later shared that she was doing much better.
50 Cent confirmed his new TV series Confessions Of A Crime Queen has been green light.
The iconic album that put 50 Cent on the map was Get Rich or Die Tryin’, and the rapper has stayed true to his motto. When his musical career slowed down, he found the next thing to bring in that paper, and as with just about anything he’s put his hands on, he was successful. You can now count 50 as a successful television producer as he will soon add another show to his already impressive string of flicks. This one is called Confessions Of A Crime Queen.
It’s a new true-crime anthology that he can add to his repertoire of productions that include the very successful Power, Power Book II: Ghost, Power Book III: Raising Kanan, For Life, and the upcoming BMF.
He broke the news on Instagram today that he’s been given the confirmation of the series to be produced on Discovery+. Online publication Deadline shared more about what to look out for in the upcoming series. According to them, each season will center around the life of a female “Crime Queen” who built a criminal empire before it all came crashing down. They also stated that a well-known actress considered A-list will portray the character who she will also study during the making of the show.
As he often does, 50 Cent took to Instagram to share his excitement with fans. “See this is the point you should realize I’m not playing, he captioned the post and added: “GREEN LIGHT GANG.”
View this post on Instagram
He also revealed in another post that he’s moved from New York to Houston, probably to be closer to the filming of the shoot even though he didn’t explicitly say that. “Love NY, but i live in Houston now i’ll explain later,” he said before sharing a few screencaps from Deadline’s announcement.
Discovery also shared their excitement with getting the chance to work with the now in-demand television producer. Lisa Holme, the Group SVP Commercial Content and Strategy of Discovery+ said: “Discovery+ is delighted to partner with Curtis, G-Unit Film & Television, Goodbye Pictures and Lionsgate on this ambitious and innovative project. Combining our unparalleled home for original true crime content with his vision for how to tell these stories in a new way will give true crime fans a fresh perspective on the genre.”
Pharrell Williams belies that labels are using advance payments to artists as an entrapment to own their creative works. The artist was speaking to Steve Stoute about the pitfalls of advance loans the devastating effect it has had on artists.
The discussions were centered on United Masters hosting SelectCon on Twitch in a two-day conference. CEO of United Master Steve Stoute and Pharrell Williams discussed various aspects of music and its operations as they discussed the problems arising from contracts with labels that are unfair to artists.
Many artists have come out to accuse labels of taking advantage of them with unfair deals and contracts, and this has led to many artists even forming their own record labels and distribution companies to avoid the issues with labels.
Among those who have complained are the likes of Kanye West, Teyana Taylor, Megan Thee Stallion, and many more artists who claim they have not received any income from their labels.
However, the issues are said to be stemming from the types of agreements that artists have with the labels, and now many new artists are falling into the trap of advances, especially.
In response to a question, Stoute asked Pharrell about what he thought of these advances. The experienced artist/producer and Stoute agreed that the way labels operate should be illegal.
“You shouldn’t walk into a company and say, ‘I’m gonna make this record.’ They give you an advance then for the tenure of that, the entire time you’re album’s out, you’re working to pay back that advance,” said Pharrell said. Stoute then interrupted to add, “It’s illegal.” Pharrell continued, “No bank gives a company a loan to start a company and walks away with the trademarks.”
According to Pharrell, “No one should own you. No one should own your actions. No one should own your creations. But you.”
The current situation in the music industry has led to many artists suing their labels for unfair deals. The latest person to do so is Megan Thee Stallion, who alleged that her contract with 1501 Entertainment saw her receiving little to no income from her deal. The CEO of that label admitted to giving Megan a $10,000 advance. However, what he took in return was far more.
“we gave her a $10,000 advance when we first signed her and gave it to her mother. I don’t know what happened[with that]. 300 (the distribution company she had signed to) gave us $200,000 check when we first signed. I gave her $50,000 of it. I didn’t have to give her that. That was mine at the time,” he said in a Billboard interview.
In her initial lawsuit to void her 30 recording contract with 1501 Entertainment, Megan claims that she was only given $15,000 from the label after earning a billion streams and selling over 300,000 individual track downloads that estimate earnings of $7 million.
The matter is still before a court.

Tory Lanez and Chris Brown got a joint project on the way.
Any other artist might have crumbled under the type of pressure that Tory Lanez has had to face over the last year. Somehow, he’s been able to keep his career alive and thriving as well. Earlier this year, in March, he dropped off a new EP called Playboy. Since he brought it out, he’s been doing his best to promote it. That’s as best as an artist can do in these pandemic times. Like most others, he’s been doing most of the promotion online.
Even though he’s faced a lot of negative media since the Megan Thee Stallion shooting incident, he’s been able to keep his head above water. In 2020 he released his fifth studio album, Daystar, which debuted at number 10 on the Billboard 200. The album was a brave one and actually explored his alleged shooting of the female rapper. Even though it made a strong debut, it did not receive a lot of media attention because of the controversial subject that he chose to tackle.
Yesterday night, May 1, he performed his latest album during a virtual live show. Following the show, he dropped some exciting news. While being interviewed by DJ Carisma, he revealed that he has an upcoming joint project with Chris Brown. His career also looks to be taking off in the right direction as he also shared that he would be dropping two new singles, and each one will have features from the rising rappers DaBaby and Yung Bleu.
While Lanez and Brown have been linked through music before, they’ve never attempted collaboration on this scale. One thing is for sure the two men are well-known and somewhat revered in the R&B space. Fans will surely be excited to see what they come up with when it drops.

J. Cole’s highly anticipated new album “The Off-Season” may be coming soon.
The Dreamville rapper teases the forthcoming project on his Instagram story on Saturday, May 1, sending fans into a frenzy. J. Cole expressed his excitement and anticipation for the release of the album on social media, writing, “Just rode through the city to The Off-Season. Dawg…” also adding a facepalm emoji. “Too excited,” he said.
The rap community has been awaiting the album for some weeks after the “Work Out” rapper revealed that he was cooking up something great for fans in the studio some months ago.
J. Cole just posted this on IG ?

DJ Akademiks had hinted that fellow rapper NBA YoungBoy was supposed to link with J.Cole sometime last month but did not show up. It has not yet been revealed which other artists will be featured on the project, as Cole seemed to have been so busy working that he did not reveal a lot of information about the album.
J. Cole has been wrapped up in recording the project for some months but had not revealed the official time set for the drop. Drizzy, however, was the person to inform the public about an album on the way, and whispers had emerged on social media from the camp. Still, neither Cole nor Kendrick had given any details of the project until now. Dreamville’s Bas had also revealed that the album would be coming in two weeks, just a few days ago.
Notably, three titles, including “It’s A Boy” and “The Fall Off,” were unveiled in a mysterious post shared to Cole’s Instagram. Some fans have speculated from these titles that the 36-year-old rapper might be retiring.
Nevertheless, fans are looking forward to the album drop in the coming weeks.
This month (May) is expected to be quite festive in the Hip Hop community. Just a few days ago, Top Dog Entertainment (TDE) had revealed that they have a major release come May 7th.
A month after he gave fans the anthem “Never Give Up,” Mavado is back with another inspirational track. The artiste officially released his single “Never Go Win” on YouTube today (April 30).
Like “Never Give Up”, Mavado’s latest track gives off a reggae vibe and is all about the positive. The Tommy G production, which is distributed by Zojak Worldwide, also features upcoming artiste IVoltage.
The rhythm builds up slowly and features the harmony that complements Mavado’s smooth voice. Coupled with sharp and well-delivered lyrics from IVoltage, the song has hit potential.
The lyrics reference the troubles that the world has been facing in the past year, which should make it very relatable for those who’ve encountered struggles due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In the opening of the song, IVoltage says, “Whole heep a f***ery gwaan last year still enuh, yuh know,” and let’s just say we can all relate.
The song’s lyrics also pay homage to Mavado’s mother, who recently passed away when she died in hospital in March. The entertainer sings, “Mama though yuh gone, yuh legacy live on. Watch over yuh son, see when mi troubles a come.”
Ultimately it is a feel-good motivational song that will have listeners pressing the repeat button.
Fans have already started sharing positive reactions to the song. One YouTube user commented, “Dem neva go WIN. Another classic from the Gad.” A second user wrote, “Finally!!!!! From it preview me been a wait on it an gully gad neva disappoint.”
Tekashi 6ix9ine pays homage to XXXTentacion at his concert last weekend but Ski Mask The Slump God isn’t impressed.
The self-proclaimed King of New York, Daniel Hernandez, better known as Tekashi 6ix9ine is not well-liked in many rap circles. However, he still has many supporters. The rapper is currently in Florida at a music festival where he performed in front of a whopping 15,000 fans. While this concert defied the usual social distancing guidelines, this is not what is most surprising.
It was 6ix9ine’s tribute to fellow rapper XXXTentacion that caught everyone off guard. This is not the first time 6ix9ine has done a tribute for X as he memorialized him right after his passing in 2018.
The late alternative rapper Jahseh Onfroy, more popularly known as XXXTentacion and typically referred to as X, was from Miami-Dade County. He had a massive cult following which he built from his SoundCloud and his social media accounts. Millions of fans around the world mourned his untimely passing back in June 2018.
At this recent festival, 6ix9ine referred to X as the King of Florida and played X’s “Look At Me!”. He did not perform the song in its entirety but rather recited some of the lyrics while moshing on stage.
View this post on Instagram
This was typically well-received by his fans, who thought the tribute was heartfelt. Even those who were not fans of the New York rapper lauded him for the tribute on social media. However, one rapper was not impressed. X’s best friend Ski Mask The Slump God made his displeasure known on Twitter.
“Random N****s That Perform Take A Step Back Or Look At Me But Only Know The First Three Lines,” The Slump God tweeted.
Random Niggas That Perform Take A Step Back Or Look At Me But Only Know The First Three Lines ???
— Sir Ski Mask (@THESLUMPGOD) May 2, 2021
It is unclear whether the “Catch Me Outside” rapper’s tweet was intended for Tekashi 6ix9ine, as he did not directly call him out. If this tweet is for 6ix9ine, it is obvious that Ski Mask views this performance as being disrespectful. Regardless, this tribute seems to have gotten him in the good graces of many who were not fond of him before.
As fans sings him high praises, many of them are also highlighting how petty 6ix9ine is and are anxious to see his response to Ski Mask. Tekashi is known for his legendary trolling skills, and the rapper consistently stays embroiled in endless beefs.
Following his release from prison last year, 6ix9ine shared a screenshot of some DMs XXXTentacion sent him before his death the year before.
Quando Rondo was shot at and his friend wounded following a show in Georgia over the weekend.
The Savannah rapper has been a moving target ever since King Von was shot and killed in November last year following a fight between the two outside a nightclub in Atlanta. Although Quando Rondo has maintained that Vin’s death was a case of self-defense, that is not enough to remove the target from off his back. As a result, he has been driving around heavily armed in a bulletproof vehicle with plenty of bodyguards.
It seems his enemies are moving closer following a shooting incident last weekend where Rondo was shot at, and a bullet struck one member of his entourage, TMZ reported. Law enforcement sources say gunfire erupted outside a convenience store off a highway in Georgia in Blackshear.
The attack took placed at approximately 3:20 AM on Sunday while the rapper and his entourage were standing in the parking lot. Quando Rondo and his crew had already left the scene when police arrived. There are no reports of any bullets hitting Rondo, but one member of his crew with hit by a bullet in his hand and got treatment at a local hospital.
Cops say that Quando and his large entourage made a quick stop at the convenience store before shots started firing at them, possibly from across the street.
Interestingly, Quando Rondo performed in front of a small crowd at The Vibe Event Center in Waycross, Georgia, over the weekend. His performance comes after several of his shows were canceled due to threats of violence. A noticeable small crowd was also at the event, a sign that fans are also concerned about possible violence breaking out at his events.
