XXXTentacion is in a serious legal bind and could spend Christmas and New Year’s in jail.
The South Florida rapper posted an image of his court document on Instagram while issuing an apology to anyone who he may have let down if he gets locked up at his next court hearing on December 15th. XXXTentacion is set to stand trial for domestic battery by strangulation, witness-tampering, false imprisonment, and aggravated battery of a pregnant woman. These are all serious charges against the rapper and could put him in the slammer for years if found guilty.
“Court date is on the 15th 9:00 am here is my court information, if I am taken into custody, I want to tell everyone I’ve let down I apologize, I tried my best, I really did,” X wrote on IG. Earlier this month, the “Look At Me” rapper’s legal team filed an affidavit claiming that the victim in the case no longer wishes to pursue the case against him but the prosecution objected and argued that the affidavit might not even be legitimate.
XXXTentacion has been having a rocky year despite tasting mainstream success with his rap career and even landing a lucrative record deal with Capitol Records worth a reported $6 million. During the summer he got into a beef with another rapper whose crew knocked him out on stage at one of his tour stops in California. Last month, he again got into an altercation with some guys link to rap group Migos. Despite getting a beat down, he was defiant on social media about getting back at the Atlanta trio.
XXXTentacion released his new EP, A Ghetto Christmas Carol, ahead of his upcoming court date. The project features five new singles including a song he produced himself “Up Like an Insomniac” where he fired off a freestyle.
XXXTentacion has already changes his mind about quitting music and is teasing a new single.
The Florida rapper has a way of keeping his name in the media and the use of shock-value has been working good for him so far. X took to Instagram on Thursday to preview an upcoming song while telling his fans that he don’t even considers it music. “Said I was going to stop making “music” but… I dont consider this “music,” he wrote. He didn’t revealed the title of his non-music song nor a release date.
Just last week, XXXTentacion revealed on Instagram that he will stop making music. That revelation comes just days after he said that he wanted out of his new record deal with Capitol Records. “Sad to announce I will not be making or releasing any music,” the rapper wrote. “I am tired of being mentally abused for trying to help people, I’m tired of the hate, I’m done.” After saying that on IG, XXXTentacion then announced that he will get back to making music only under one condition and that’s of his former friend Ski Mask The Slump God start being friends with him again.
Ski Mask says that is highly unlikely that he will be friends with X again because not only is he crazy, but he had to distance himself from him so that fans can start taking him serious as an individual rapper. He also said some things about XXXTentacion wanting to sacrifice his soul. “This is a person who has before threaten my whole family told me I was supposed to be sacrificed on some crazy sh*t so no i didn’t just separate myself for no reason,” Ski Mask wrote.
Despite those strong feelings, Ski Mask added that he will always have love for that alien-looking ni**a named XXX.”
XXXTentacion says he wants out of the new $6 million deal that he just signed with Capitol Records.
The “Look At Me” rapper recently signed a new seven figures deal with Capitol Records but it seems like he is having a change of heart and perhaps wants to go independent. Without giving any additional details, he posted on Instagram Live that he is terminating his deal with the label less than a week after signing it. Unfortunately, those deals are not that easy to get out of so he will have to lawyer up if he is serious about that.
“Terminating my deal with “capitol records,” he wrote while adding, “I am not a “signed” artist and I will not be releasing music for a very long time. I’m tired of this sh*t.” Capitol Records has not released a statement on what XXXTentacion said, but something tells me that it won’t take too long for them to say something. Unless this is just another one of X’s publicity stunts.
The 19-year-old rapper, born Jahseh Onfroy, got a taste of fame earlier this year when his single “Look At Me” became a viral hit. There was also some controversies surrounding Drake allegedly biting his style on the single. He even tried to instigate a beef with the Young Money rapper but Drizzy never took the bait. Aside from his musical success, XXXTentacion is in a world of legal troubles stemming from a case where he allegedly held his pregnant ex-girlfriend hostage and assaulted her. He will be going on trial on December 11th for aggravated battery of a pregnant woman, domestic battery by strangulation, false imprisonment, and witness-tampering. All charges carry a hefty prison term if he is convicted.
XXXTentacion’s deal with Capitol Records is for upcoming material. His debut album 17 was released on August 25th and sold 87,000 copies in the first week and debut at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart. The album is currently on its way to getting gold certification.
