The song was produced by Grammy Award nominee Costi Ionita and Shaggy and released via VP records. The entire production, from sound to visuals, celebrates the raw exotic culture of dancehall. The video, which was directed by Jay Will, was filmed in Kingston, Jamaica, featuring cameo appearances by other Jamaican Dancehall representatives, including Kemar Highcon, Walshy Fire, and Naomi Cowan. Director credits are also given to Kanye West, Major Lazer, Lee Scratch Perry, Shaggy, and M.I.A.

The collaboration with Sean Paul and Shaggy is what Spice, who has been through her fair share of ups and downs in the Dancehall, describes as “the biggest milestone” of her career.

“They are both International giants in our genre. I’m honored to have created such a historic moment by being one of the first artists to have them collaborate on a track together,” she said.

Spice is set to release a highly anticipated debut album on July 30, titled “TEN.” The details surrounding this album have not yet been announced.

Vybz Kartel Remind Critics He’s A Billboard Artist Long Before 2009’s “Romping Shop”

Vybz Kartel is reminding his critics that he has been a Billboard artist long before his 2009 hit, “Romping Shop” featuring Spice.

The dancehall icon pushed back at a local blogger who insinuated that younger artists were making Billboard hits as if it was a new phenomenon. Vybz Kartel took to Instagram via his official account to school YouTube blogger BrandO of BrandO Music Review Show as he asserted that he had been a Billboard Superstar even way before the advent of social media.

In a screenshot posted, Kartel pointed out that his song “Tekk” peaked at #11 on the Billboard Hot R&B/ Hip Hop Songs chart in September of 2004. A month later that year, in October, his song “Picture This” peaked at #21, while his hit single “Ramping Shop,” which featured Spice peaked at #2 in July 2009.

The artiste noted in commentary regarding his achievements that “a simple ting fam. Member me a Star long before my space, bootube [sic], ig, facebook & twitter,” he began.. “since most a unnu a go infant school school…suh nuff ting dem ago THINK dem 1st dweet.”

Brando Music apologized for his faux pas that set off “Di Teacha.” “Let me apologize for misinforming my audience during the interview with non-nice recently and in previous reviews @vybzkartel has been on @billboard charts long before 2009 Romping Shop entry featuring Spice,” he said.

Vybz Kartel has long been a lyrical genius destined for greatness. He released his first single at the age of 12 years old – “Love Fat woman” under his first stage name ‘Adi Banton’, and as the years rolled on, he engaged the music world as Bounty Killer’s protégé, so by the time he broke out as a solo artist in 2002 with hits like “Guns Like Mine,” “Badman” and “Most High,” the artiste’s potential was established.

His songs have charted on everything from Reggae to R&B and Hip Hop, but by far, his influence and popularity as an artist in Jamaica, the Caribbean, and the diaspora grew wide. It was driven mainly by CDS and DVDs and radio play, and large sold-out shows that the artiste performed at around the world. At the time, social media platforms had little scope as it does in the current decade.

Kartel’s likability came from his persona, his incisive lyrics, and no doubt his songs which connected with fans. Along with “Romping Shop,” his song “Dollar sign,” also released in 2009, was in regular rotation on urban radio stations in the United States.

By 2010, his hit single “Clarks” became among his biggest international successes. When the song dropped, it was in the top three reggae singles gaining the most radio plays in North America for 40 weeks straight. “Clarks” was so big that it also featured “So you think you can dance Canada” and it featured on a CNN segment on dancehall dance follow-ups to “Clarks,” – “Clarks Clarks-2 again” and “Clarks 3 wear Weh yuh” placed the British footwear brand back on the map as the shoes soared in popularity.

Here’s  a list of songs from Vybz Kartel that charted up to 2012 on the US R&B Chart and the UK Reggae Chart.

  • Vybz Kartel Chart hitting albums

In spite of his singles hitting various charts, Kartel also recorded numerous album successes between 2009 and 2016.

Kartel’s Billboard album Hits history began in 2011 with Kingston Story. That song debuted at No. 7 on July 9 and sold over 1,000 copies in the first week. This was among Kartel’s first sets of digital albums as he crossed over into the digital space of music streaming. A different edition of the album also debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 at No.13 in 2012.

The album “’Vybz Kartel Roots & Culture: The Voice of the Jamaican Ghetto” hit No. 6 on the charts on July 27, 2013, followed by “Kartel Forever: Trilogy”, which peaked at No. 11 after landing on the chart on June 21, 2014. Less than 1,000 copies were sold in that first week. He also released “Reggae Love Songs & Other Things” that entered the chart peaking at No. 7.

Nine months later, the album “Viking (Vybz Is King)” was released and peaked at No. 3. It entered the chart on March 28, 2015. A year later, on July 2, 2016, “King of the Dancehall” sold 2,000 copies in its debut week and peaked at No. 2 on the chart.

In his first interview since being behind bars for four years, Vybz Kartel speaking to Billboard about his continued dominance from jail, Kartel said he remains committed to making music, and his formula sets him apart.

“It’s a secret like the Colonel’s recipe. The true secret to success is commitment, hard work, smart work, self-analysis and most important, humility,” he responded. “Once I face a riddim (rhythm track), I’m not worldboss, just a man with a pen, paper and a track. Other artists are working hard, so I think it’s just the formula.”

An unverified account of the artiste’s songs shows that he has recorded 694 songs since his career started.

His song “Fever” from his 2016 album King of the Dancehall was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America. The song peaked No. 2 on the Billboard Reggae Albums Charts and has been viewed 43 million times on YouTube.

Among those who have received similar awards are a select few, which include the likes of Sean Paul, Buju Banton, Kranium, and Mad Cobra.

Since then, he has released hundreds of songs and several albums as he aims to snag the top awards. In the previous commentary, the artiste rubbished YouTube views as a mark of achievement for dancehall artists, as he noted that streaming numbers on paid platforms were much better measures of success.

Despite that, Kartel continues to dominate. Up to 2020, Vybz Kartel had the most views on YouTube with 6.2 million views, leading the likes of newcomer Skillibeng with 6.0 million views and Alkaline with 5.22 million and Chronic Law rounding off the top five with 4.3 million views.

Meghan’s first post-Royal job will be voicing a Disney elephant documentary

    United States

Disney has announced that Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, will be narrating a forthcoming documentary about elephants.

It is the first job for the former Suits television series actress since she and Prince Harry announced in January that they were stepping down from their Royal duties, seeking to pursue greater financial independence.

How many streaming services is too many?
When Disney’s new dedicated streaming platform Disney+ launches in Australia, it’ll be one more item on a long list.

The documentary, entitled Elephant, follows an elephant family on a 1,600-kilometre journey across the Kalahari Desert and will raise money for the charity Elephants without Borders.

It will be released on April 3 via the Disney+ streaming service as one of a series of animal and nature-themed features released to mark Earth Month.

Britain’s Sun newspaper reported this week that Harry and Meghan have moved to Los Angeles, where they plan to make a permanent home.

They had been living for several months with their son Archie on Vancouver Island in Canada.

A spokeswoman for Prince Harry declined to comment on the report, which The Sun dubbed as an exclusive. Meghan was raised in the Los Angeles area and her mother Doria still lives there.

People magazine, citing an unidentified source, said on Thursday the couple had already settled into a home in the Los Angeles area and had not ventured out.

Do Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have their own wealth?
We’ve had a look at exactly how the couple is funded and how they could potentially support themselves going forward.

Last week, the United States and Canada agreed to close their border to non-essential travel to ease the strain on health systems caused by the coronavirus.

California imposed a state-wide stay-at-home order last week in a bid to contain the coronavirus.

Harry’s father Prince Charles, the heir to the British throne, tested positive to the coronavirus this week.

The grandson of Queen Elizabeth II married American actress Meghan at Windsor Castle in May 2018, in a ceremony watched by millions around the world.

The couple later said they found scrutiny by the British media — which they said tipped into harassment — intolerable.

The couple will cease their royal duties at the end of March as they carve out “a progressive new role,” mainly based in North America, which they aim to finance themselves.

‘Reaper of death’ tyrannosaurus discovered in Canada

    Canada

A new species of tyrannosaur dating back almost 80 million years has been discovered by a farmer and his wife in Canada.

    Key points:

    • The new species stood roughly 2.4m high with teeth longer than 70mm
    • Ridges along its jaw were probably covered in colourful scales
    • Alberta, Canada, is one of the top five places in the world for dinosaur discoveries

Thanatotheristes degrootorum stalked what is now North America more than 79 million years ago, during the late Cretaceous Period, making it the region’s oldest-known tyrannosaur.

The first part of the apex predator’s name, Thanatotheristes, means “reaper of death”, while the second part, degrootorum, honours John and Sandra De Groot, the couple who made the fossil discovery.

Researchers said the new find gave them more insights into the evolution of tyrannosaurs — a group of large predatory dinosaurs that includes the famous Tyrannosaurus rex.

“There are many anatomical features of the skull that differentiates Thanatotheristes,” François Therrien, curator of dinosaur palaeoecology at the Royal Tyrrell Museum in Alberta, told the ABC.

“Probably the most obvious difference for the general public is the presence of a series of vertical ridges on the upper jaw, and those probably in life would have been covered by scales.”

    Photo:

Standing roughly 2.4 metres high with teeth longer than 70 millimetres, the carnivorous dinosaur had many features resembling its younger cousin Tyrannosaurus rex.

But Dr Therrien said no other species of tyrannosaur had ridges along its jaw, and the scales that covered them were likely to be colourful, giving it a very distinctive appearance.

    ‘We knew it was special’

    Photo:

The fossils were discovered in 2008 by John and Sandra De Groot. (Supplied: John De Groot)

The De Groots found the fossils, including jaw bones and skull fragments, in 2008 as they hiked along a riverbank in Alberta.

“The jawbone was an absolutely stunning find,” Mr De Groot said.

“We knew it was special because you could clearly see the fossilised teeth.”

The remains were determined to be from a tyrannosaur, but the bones that were collected were not believed to contain enough features to clearly differentiate which type.

It wasn’t until University of Calgary masters student Jared Voris took a closer look in 2018 that the distinguishing features were identified.

Mr Voris returned to the site of the discovery with Dr Therrien and the two worked alongside others to analyse the fossils before officially announcing the discovery on Monday.

“I think what’s interesting here is that this discovery was not made by professional palaeontologists but by members of the public,” Dr Therrien said.

Alberta’s rugged and bare landscape has made it one of the top five places in the world for dinosaur fossils.

Dr Therrien said that from his office at the museum he could walk out across the Badlands and discover fossils.

“From some areas of the province you can collect up to six, maybe more, skeletons of dinosaurs every summer,” he told the ABC.

Of the 15 different species of tyrannosaurs, five of them have been found in Alberta.

But most date from between 77 and 66 million years old, making this particular find even more significant.

The last tyrannosaur discovered in Canada was Daspletosaurus, in 1970.

Chance the Rapper – Zanies and Fools Lyrics

    Play this song

    [Intro]
Well we must be some zanies and fools
To  take a gamble on this love just like we do
What  a wonderfully crazy thing to do
Love like mine that we were powerless to choose
I’m so powerful every time I look at you
No  memory of anything I couldn’t do
    It’s  possible, so possible

    [Interlude: Chance the Rapper]
    Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah,  yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

    [Verse 1: Chance the Rapper]
Once upon a time I wasn’t sure of myself
I would always claim I never had no help
Look into the mirror, the most unfair of all
Hit  the Player’s Ball, it was unbearable
    Another big birthday, another milestone
To make your birthstone feel like rhinestone
The caterpillars that had burrowed inside my belly
Started to flutter before I learned how to fly
I had a bunch of midlife crises ‘fore I turned 25
The teachers put me in the back where I was learning to hide
‘Cause when the teachers call you special, that’s a perfect disguise
I had to bury all the dancing that would burgeon inside
I got quiet, thought the silence was the perfect reply
I turn to Casper any time a nigga turn on the slide
Until I turned up at the talent show, a permanent high
I had Jesus behind the wheel before I learned how to drive
    ‘Cause it’s press

    [Chorus]
    It’s possible
    It’s possible
    It’s possible
    It’s possible
    It’s possible
    It’s possible
    It’s possible
    It’s possible

    [Verse 2: Chance the Rapper]
Once upon a time, a lady who tried twice
At being a good wife and giving a good life
To both of her lil’ girls with ballerina tights
She called up the RE/MAX and opened her own site
Clothes and open houses, hired her own type
Alimony is phony, she paid for her own flights
Crazy office parties, she’s throwin’ ’em inside
And my mama sealed my fate when she opened the invite
The lady had a plan, she knew it all in advance
The party was a good mixture of employees and friends
She told the people comin’ to make sure they bring their kids
Yeah, bring some food, but just make sure you bring your kids
After we arrived and after standing around
The lady take the glass and told us gather around
For a special performance from her daughters, she said it proud
But tonight they not my daughters, tonight they Destiny’s Child
Out from the back came three lil’ survivors
    In formation, choreo tighter
One on the left, I think I might like her
One on the left, I think I might love her
Lady just folds her arms, rubs her hands
All of the lessons, learn how to dance
All of these moments left up to chance
Everything will go right as it can
    It’s possible

    [Chorus]
    It’s possible
    It’s possible
(Vous allez accomplir, vous allez accomplir, allez)
    It’s possible (Tu t’a grandé)
    It’s possible (Tu t’a grandé)
    It’s possible
    It’s possible

    [Verse 3: Chance the Rapper]
Once upon a time, I had carats supplied
To a pair of fair rings I would share with the bride
Every kiss begins with clear cut clarity sides
They were forever, but marriage had an apparent decline
Now we live in fear of doin’ what our parents was tryin’
So every Rapunzel don’t got the kind of hair you can climb
Every since they lost a slipper, every pair that they find
They say these boots were made for dancing like Mary J. Blige
We live a life apart, life so hard
Life’ll never really end up like the start
We learn together how the back door feels
And we was jumping over brooms in tobacco fields
We was the same, all black folks still
Until the white man found out black votes steal elections
So they legitimized us, but behind us
It’s still black folks at the back door still
For every small increment liberated, our women waited
And all they privacy been invaded
Almost every trade I got through the slave owner
Dark skin, brown, nose round, but the Bennett made it
Now I wanna give it to her, Sierra Leone, serenade
Sometimes love come with its own barricade
Sometimes love just gotta hold, marinate
Let it hold, let it wait, here it go, here it go

    [Chorus]
    It’s possible (It’s possible)

    It’s possible (Tu t’a grandé)
    It’s possible (Tu t’a grandé)
    It’s possible

    [Verse 4: Nicki Minaj]
    Ayy, yo
Once upon a time, a girl from Trinidad
Had to fly to Canada and sneak into the land
Of the free and of the brave, feet under the sand
And I came in realizing nothing free in the land
Dreams of making money, had to split it with Sam
All that Making the Band, yeah, I could’ve did it, but damn
Had to really be on the come-up, had to stick to the plan
Went from rockin’ with Fendi, now Fendi know I’m a brand
That’s how God do, I’m in your top two
And I ain’t number two, conquered rap, then the pop too
You gon’ stop who? Get off cock, dude
Since “Itty Bitty Piggy,” giving bitches what they bop to
I met my husband when I was 17 out in Queens
If you love it, let it go, now I know what that means
While he was up North for a body
I bodied everybody and got known for my body
My nigga home now, he the Clyde to my Bonnie
‘Bout to walk down the aisle and be a mommy
Ooh, I remember when I cried like, “Why me?”
Now I wouldn’t exchange my life for Armani
Sometimes I feel like I’m dreaming and then it hits me
Gotta remember who I am when it slips me
Kids running up to the car yelling, “Nicki”
All my bad bitches, I know that y’all with me
Fuck they thought was sittin’ in my seat?
Got a big bowl of ice cream sitting in my Jeep
Got some felons that’ll put you on ice, so don’t sleep
‘Bout to dead this whole beef and rock some gold teeth

    [Outro: Nicki Minaj]
    It’s possible, it’s possible
    It’s possible to me

Rihanna Has Some New Music With Sizzla Coming

Rihanna is back in the studio working on some new music.

Seems RiRi new album might be coming this year because a very reliable sources told DancehallHipHop that she is back in the studio and she is working on something with Sizzla. The Bajan pop star was spotted recently hitting up a studio in New York and we’re told she was locked down for hours recording new material. The same source confirmed that he came recently reached out to Sizzla’s team but it’s unclear if it’s a new collaboration or a sampling. But fret not we will get the full details soon.

Last year May, Rihanna recorded a new song with Buju Banton from previously recorded material the reggae star had in his arsenal. At the time she registered a new song name “Phatty” and was spotted out in NYC wearing a Buju Banton T-Shirt. She registered a second single titled “Only One Who Knows.” That’s the clearest sign yet that she has been working on her ninths studio album. So far there are no additional details but we have good intel that it might be coming later this year.

Rihanna released her eight album ANTI on January 28, 2016. The project was released exclusively on TIDAL before being available on all digital platforms. ANTI peaked at No. 1 in the United States and Canada and spent a milestone 100 weeks on the Billboard 200 chart. It’s been since certified double platinum by the RIAA. Despite not dropping an album in two years, RiRi was the most streamed female artist on Spotify last year. She even earned a number one song on the Hot 100 chart when DJ Khaled’s “Wild Thoughts” topped the chart last summer.

Rihanna previously worked with Sizzla on the remix for “Give Me A Try.” She has always been a huge fan of the reggae/dancehall legend and even named him as one of her all-time favorite artists. Aside from dominating the music scene, the “Wild Thoughts” singer has been busy building her fashion and cosmetics empire. Last year she released her Fenty Beauty line of cosmetics which includes 40 shades of makeup. The products sold out in a matter of hours after launch.

Sean Kingston Feeds Homeless In Kingston For Thanksgiving

Sean Kingston is getting a lot of praise for feeding homeless people in Kingston on Thanksgiving day.

Sean Kingston is now living in Jamaica but he is still celebrating some American holidays and for Thanksgiving last week Thursday, the “Beautiful Girl” singer and his mother took to the streets of Kingston to dish out some hot meals to the homeless in Jamaica’s capital. “Knowing that Jamaica doesn’t really celebrate Thanksgiving, it’s something new,” Kingston said. “I always give back in the States, and I feel like bringing it back to my home, my culture, my country is something dope. Last year I did it with Soulja Boy and Tyga. I do it every year because Mama Kingston loves to give back.”

Sean Kingston is currently touring the US and Canada for his Made in Jamaica tour which supports his latest mixtape Made In Jamaica, released earlier this year. The singer’s mother Janice ‘Mama Kingston’ Turner said she spent all day cooking up some classic Jamaican dishes like curry chicken, oxtail, jerk chicken and more. “We brought 500 plates and they ran out, and I had to get more,” she said.

Mama Kingston said she has been doing this for the past decade in Florida and California. “We did Florida for four years, California for six years and now, for the first time, Jamaica,” Janice said. Sean Kingston says that he will be spending the holiday at his newly purchased home in Jamaica with his family.

Drake Gets Tattoo Of Murdered OVO Affiliate Fif & Denzel Washington

Drake OVO affiliate rapper Fif was murdered last weekend and now he is paying tribute.

Drake gets a tribute tattoo of his late friend Anthony “Fif” Soares who was murdered last Thursday (September 14). Details of the murder are still sketchy but video surveillance made its way online that shows two armed men approaching him and shot him. He was rushed to a hospital in Toronto where the shooting incident happened where he was pronounced dead.

Drake confirmed his death on Instagram last weekend and now he got a tattoo using the same image that he posted of Fif on his IG page. He also wrote the words “Forever Fif” over the image. Drizzy also got himself a tattoo of a vintage Denzel Washington.

The tattoos were done by Belgium based tattoo artist Bersekov who has in the past done a lot of inks for Drake. Bersekov wrote on Instagram, “honored to pay tribute tattooing “FIF” on my brother [Drake].” The tatt of Denzel was taken from an iconic image from Spike Lee’s classic 1990 movie Mo’ Better Blues where the actor played a jazz musician name Bleek Gilliam.

“‘Mo’ better blues’ first session on my brother @champagnepapi , thanks as usual for your trust. “Clarke: ‘Cause mo better makes it mo better,” Bersekov wrote.

Got a lot of people tryna drain me of this energy
They tryna take the wave from a nigga
Fuckin’ with the kid and pray for your nigga

    [Outro]
    I’m off this, man

When I was a young boy,
    My mama said to me
    Your daddy’s leavin’ home today,
I think he’s gone to stay.
We packed up all our bags
    And drove out to winnipeg.

    When we got to winnipeg
    I checked in to school.
I wore white bucks on my feet,
When I learned the golden rule.
The punches came fast and hard
Lying on my back in the school yard.

Don’t be denied, don’t be denied.
Don’t be denied, don’t be denied.
Don’t be denied, don’t be denied.

Well pretty soon I met a friend,
    He played guitar.
We used to sit on the steps at school
    And dream of being stars.
    We started a band,
    We played all night.

Don’t be denied, don’t be denied.
Don’t be denied, don’t be denied.
Don’t be denied, don’t be denied.

    Oh canada
    We played all night
I really hate to leave you now
But to stay just wouldn’t be right.
    Down in hollywood
    We played so good

    The businessmen crowded around
They came to hear the golden sound
There we were on the sunset strip,
Playing our songs for the highest bid.
    We played all night
    The price was right.

Don’t be denied, don’t be denied.
Don’t be denied, don’t be denied.
Don’t be denied, don’t be denied.

Well, all that glitters isn’t gold
I know you’ve heard that story told.
And I’m a pauper in a naked disguise
    A millionaire through a business man’s eyes.
    Oh friend of mine
    Don’t be denied.
