Monkeypox infection. How dangerous is it, and is there a vaccine

In May 2022, the monkeypox virus began to spread around the world, which usually does not go beyond endemic countries. How the virus is transmitted, what its characteristic symptoms are, and whether there is a vaccine against it – RBC understood

Where the monkeypox virus was found

In Europe, the first case of monkeypox infection was detected in the UK on 7 May. The infected person recently returned from Nigeria, which is characterized by the spread of this virus. It is the countries of West and Central Africa— breeding grounds for this virus. The virus was discovered in 1958, and was first detected in humans in 1970 in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).

By May 20, there were already 20 cases in the UK. After the UK, the virus was found in Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Italy, Germany, France, Belgium and other countries. The virus has also been detected in patients in the United States, Australia, Canada, where examinations are carried out in 13 people who are presumably infected.

Some of the cases identified in the UK were not directly related to travel to Africa, meaning that the virus was already transmitted within the country. The Ministry of Health notes that a significant proportion of the identified cases were among gay and bisexual men, because of this, the ministry calls on this part of society to be especially on the alert. Until now, it was not believed that the virus was transmitted sexually, the department draws attention. The virus is transmitted through close contact with the sick person, as well as through contact with the clothes or bedding of an infected person, the materials indicate. “The virus does not usually spread easily between people. Population risk remains low,— government release says.

Outbreaks in Africa

In May 2018, an outbreak was in Cameroon— one confirmed case, another 15 suspected, no one died.

Nigeria— from September to December 2017— 172 suspected cases, 61 confirmed, no death reported.

Central African Republic— September—October 2016, there were 26 suspected cases, three confirmed, one person died.

By May 21, WHO had confirmed 92 cases of monkeypox from 12 non-endemic countries. The organization further clarified that the confirmed and suspected cases of monkeypox were not associated with the travel of infected people to endemic areas, which is a “highly unusual event.” The cases now identified are of the West African variant of monkeypox— they are similar to what was recorded in the UK, Israel and Singapore in 2018-2019, the WHO reported.

How the virus is transmitted

The so-called natural reservoir of the virus are monkeys and some rodents (African squirrels, prairie dogs), from which the virus can be transmitted to humans. Experts interviewed by RBC note that outbreaks of monkeypox have happened before, they occurred mainly in endemic countries, but cases of importation to Europe were also known and occurred annually.

The type of transmission of the virus is similar to the type of transmission of smallpox— close contact of a person with a person, you can also become infected by contact with human body fluids, by contact with secretions from the patient's pustules and by interacting with his personal belongings. Due to the fact that transmission requires close contact, Konstantin Severinov, head of the laboratory at the Institute of Molecular Genetics and the Institute of Gene Biology of the Russian Academy of Sciences, explains to RBC, the rate of spread of this infection is much lower than with coronavirus, which is transmitted by airborne droplets.

The possibility of airborne transmission is now being discussed, but to date it is not known how effectively it is being implemented, says the director of the Institute of Medical Parasitology, Tropical and Vector-borne Diseases. E.I.Martsinovsky Sechenov University Alexander Lukashev.

Experts note that monkeypox, like other infectious diseases, has an incubation period. Identified 92 cases— this is the result of an infection about a week ago, so it can be argued that there are others infected, and expect an increase in the number of cases, regardless of the efforts of doctors, warns Lukashev.

The fact that there are more gay and bisexual males among monkeys with smallpox than statistically expected may be due to the fact that sexual contacts of people from this group are more traumatic and often lead to damage to the mucous membranes and skin, due to which the virus is transmitted. says Severinov. According to him, this may simply be an accident, since there are not so many infected yet. “In heterosexual intercourse, the same thing will happen if there are cracks or damage to the outer integument and mucous membranes,” — the expert explains. The WHO also notes that the identified cases are mainly, but not exclusively, recorded among men who have sex with men.

Will monkeypox appear in Russia

The official health departments, the Ministry of Health and Rospotrebnadzor, said on May 22 that there were no cases of monkeypox in Russia. Rospotrebnadzor considered the risk of importation “extremely low”.

Despite the fact that experts interviewed by RBC consider the risk of importation of the virus unlikely, Alexander Lukashev notes that monkeypox can spread among various ethnic groups.

< p>Among the measures to be taken to minimize the risk of a wide spread of the disease in Russia, the Deputy General Director for Research at the Center. Chumakov Ilya Gordeychuk calls: PCR diagnostics, isolation of infected and contact persons— at the health system level. On an individual level— careful monitoring of flu-like respiratory symptoms in yourself and others, wearing masks and cleaning hands with disinfectants.

How the disease progresses

The initial symptoms of monkeypox include fever, headache, muscle aches, back pain, swollen lymph nodes, chills, and fatigue. A rash may develop, often beginning on the face, then spreading to other parts of the body, including the genitals. The rash changes and goes through different stages and may look like the varicella or syphilis rash before finally forming a scab that later falls off, UK Department of Health describes symptoms.

According to WHO, the incubation period ranges from six to 13 days, but can be from five to 21. Two periods can be distinguished during the course of the disease. The first lasts up to five days and is characterized by fever, severe headache, swollen lymph nodes, back pain, myalgia, and fatigue. Abnormal sizes of lymph nodes— a characteristic sign of this particular type of smallpox, with chickenpox, measles and smallpox this is not. After one to three days after the onset of the heat, rashes begin on the skin.

The rash tends to be more concentrated on the face and limbs than on the trunk. The rash develops in succession from macules (lesions with a flat base) to papules (slightly raised firm lesions), vesicles (clear fluid-filled lesions), pustules (yellowish fluid-filled lesions), and crusts that dry up and fall off. The number of lesions ranges from several tens to several thousand. In severe cases, lesions may coalesce until large areas of skin are shed.

Monkeypox, the WHO continues, usually— self-limiting disease with symptoms lasting two to four weeks. Severe cases are more common among children and are related to the degree of exposure to the virus, the health of the patient, and the nature of the complications. The case fatality rate for monkeypox has historically ranged from 0% to 11% in the general population and has been higher among young children. Recently, the fatality rate has been around 3–6%.

With damage to the cornea, loss of vision is possible, added in a conversation with RBC, the chief researcher of the Center. N.F. Gamalei Viktor Zuev, who took part in the suppression of an outbreak of smallpox in Moscow in the 1960s.

Is there a vaccine for monkeypox

While smallpox vaccination was a protection in the past, today people younger than 40-50 years old (depending on the country) may be more susceptible to monkeypox due to for ending smallpox vaccination campaigns around the world after the eradication of the disease, says WHO.

“I started working on monkeypox in 2002 in the DRC. Now, 20 years later, the vast majority of people in the world do not have immunity to smallpox viruses, — noted in an interview with The Telegraph Anne Rimouin, professor of epidemiology at the University of California at Los Angeles. She estimates that as the world becomes more susceptible to poxviruses (smallpox viruses) and as travel increases, the number of cases could increase.

The smallpox vaccine also works against monkeypox, Vector said earlier, as all poxviruses provide good cross-protection. “The two viruses are similar, so the immune response generated by the smallpox vaccine is effective against monkeypox,” confirms RBC Gordeychuk.

Also in Vector; spoke about their own previously developed test system, which allows to detect cases of monkeypox infection. According to the center's experts, the test is specific and does not detect cross-reactions with rubella and chickenpox viruses.

The experts with whom RBC spoke explained that in the Vector center contains a strain of smallpox, but it is not needed to create the smallpox vaccine itself. “A vaccinia virus is used, similar to the vaccinia virus, which the physician Edward Jenner used to vaccinate back in the 18th century. The same vaccine can protect against monkeypox, & mdash; says Severinov.

Such a vaccine, if necessary, can be quickly developed, since the technology is not new. Experts confirm that there is no independent vaccine against monkeypox in the world.

Vaccination against smallpox was carried out in the USSR. Will the vaccinated be protected now

In 1979, the World Health Assembly issued a declaration declaring the world's victory over smallpox. In the USSR, vaccination was carried out until about 1982, after which it stopped. The smallpox vaccine is expected to provide protection against monkeypox, Lukashev says. “Perhaps, the inhabitants of Russia, vaccinated before the 80s, will be partially protected when they meet with monkeypox, but we do not know how effective their immunity is, because more than 40 years have passed after vaccination,” — he says. Chief Researcher at the Center N.F. Gamalei Viktor Zuev doubts that the vaccinated still have protection.

The smallpox vaccine gave sterile immunity, that is, the vaccinated person ceased to be a source of new viruses, and vaccination gave lifelong immunity, Konstantin Severinov believes. “Since young children were vaccinated, it can be assumed that almost everyone born before the 80s will be resistant to monkeypox,” — explains the expert.

Nevertheless, one cannot speak of significant herd immunity, since the vast majority of people under 40 years of age have not been vaccinated against smallpox, Gordeychuk summarizes.

Politicians say they are seeing signs Omicron outbreak may be close to its peak

Health Minister Greg Hunt and a number of state premiers and CHOs say there is evidence we are approaching the peak of Omicron.

Mr Hunt said he is seeing signs of a 'plateauing':

"There are some clear signs that certainly in New South Wales and the ACT and we'll await more data from Victoria, there's signs of a plateauing. That is playing itself through in terms of the numbers with serious illness, as well as the number of those who have been diagnosed," he told Radio National.

South Australian Premier Steven Marshall said despite some uncertainty, he believes his state is 'reasonably close' to the peak:

"There's a lot of uncertainty but I think we're reasonably close to peak, if we're not at peak already.  We still see big numbers interstate, but we are starting to see some very, very hopeful signs we're at that peak now in South Australia", he said.

Queensland authorities, too, said they were expecting to see hospitalisations peak some time in the next week.

And Victorian CHO Brett Sutton said he was expecting to see a two-week lag on the hospitalisation rates that follow the peak of infections, and a three-week lag in ICU admissions.

How to safely resume your exercise routine after recovering from COVID-19(ABC News: Tim Swanston)

Getting moving again after recovering from COVID-19 is no walk in the park for some people and experts warn that pushing yourself too hard, too soon, can be detrimental to your recovery.

Even those with peak levels of fitness who only suffer mild COVID-19 symptoms can be overcome with exhaustion and struggle to get moving after their infection.

The general consensus among exercise physicians is to wait at least seven days after you first experience symptoms to resume any form of exercise.

But don't jump back in like you're qualifying for the Olympics. Instead, start with low- or light-intensity activities.

"This might be things like everyday activities — for example, housework, light garden tasks or gentle walking — for the first couple of weeks," says Selina Parry, senior lecturer at University of Melbourne's department of physiotherapy.

From there, gradually increase the time you're doing these tasks, perhaps by 10 to 15 minutes per day, until you get to the point where you can complete a 30-minute walk at a light intensity, suggests Dr Parry, who specialises in intensive care patient recovery.

There's no evidence to definitively say you should or should not exercise before day seven of your infection if you're experienced no symptoms.

But, Dr Parry says, even if you feel perfectly well after testing positive, monitor how you are feeling very closely if you engage in exercise.

Hi Jacqueline
Do you have to wait exactly 3 months before getting a booster after 1 feb or can you get it a bit earlier? I am due mid feb

-Keen to boost

 Hey KtB,

In line with ATAGI advice, the official timeframe for a booster remains four months minimum until January 31, when it reduces to three months minimum.

So you will have to wait just a little bit longer!

Can you catch COVID twice? Or does it give you greater immunity?(Pexels: Pixabay)

Central Coast resident Mitch Rogers has just come out of two weeks of complete isolation, which he says was "pretty tough".

After contracting COVID early this year, the 32-year-old, who lives by himself, retreated to his Umina Beach home to ride out the symptoms. They ended up taking 14 days to subside, double the mandated seven day isolation period.

But as he re-entered the world on Monday, returning to his job in the care sector, he was far from relieved. "I feel more cautious and nervous," he says.

Partly, he's worried that he could still be infectious and unwittingly pass the virus to someone else. (He thinks he caught the virus from someone who had recently left isolation and thought they were clear.)

But mainly, he's afraid to get sick again.

"The booster talk is confusing, some sources say you're meant to be immune for six months, some say six weeks," he says.

"I went to a takeaway place and I was the only person wearing a mask. I couldn't remember if the rules changed, but I didn't feel safe not wearing one."

More than a million Australians have now had COVID, and while many who have recently contracted the virus describe it as a weight off their shoulders, for others like Mitch, the anxiety has continued.

Here's what the experts say about whether a COVID-19 infection mean you won't get it again, and how careful you should be when you leave isolation.

Hong Kong toughens quarantine for citizens arriving from Africa

Hong Kong authorities have decided to tighten quarantine measures against passengers from eight countries in southern Africa, the newspaper & nbsp; Dimsum Daily reported.

Since November 28, citizens arriving from South Africa, Botswana, Eswatini , Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia and Zimbabwe are due to undergo their first week of quarantine at a dedicated government quarantine center. They can spend the remaining two weeks in hotels.

This decision was made against the background of the detection of a new strain of the omicron coronavirus. Two cases have already been recorded in Hong Kong. One was imported, the other occurred in a quarantine hotel at the airport: a passenger from South Africa infected a traveler from Canada. It is noted that both patients were vaccinated.

Earlier, the authorities of Germany, Austria and the Netherlands reported about the probable detection of cases of a new variant of & nbsp; COVID-19.

Recall that Russia will restrict entry of foreigners living in Hong Kong and nine countries of southern Africa. & nbsp; Read details & nbsp; in the material of AiF.ru.

Reggae Singer Fantan Mojah Ridiculed By Mutabaruka For Raunchy Dancehall Song “Fire King”

Jamaican reggae artiste Fantan Mojah has been on the receiving end of a lot of criticism following the release of his brand new song and music video titled “Fire King.” The public lashing has been handed out by critics all over social media, as well as members of the Rastafarian religion. Popular poet, orator, and radio talk-show host Mutabaruka, who is a member of the Bobo Ashanti Mansion, which Fantan is associated with, also had some choice words for the singer.

Mojah is best known for his conscious and inspiring lyrical content which has been observed on tracks such as “Stronger,” “Rasta Got Soul,” “Hail The King,” “Hungry,” and “Nuh Build Great Man.”

“Im not rastafari……but this tune gives me courage and inspiration. real music is powerful,” is just one of the comments one may find below some of the reggae singer’s early releases.

Yet, he has seemingly agitated fans with the release of his high suggestive video. The visuals capture the 44-year-old having some adult-themed fun with a handful of young females dressed in nothing more than their bikinis. The shots take viewers from the poolside to the bedroom, as the rasta gets hands-on with a few of the females’ derrieres. The lyrics explored on “Fire King” fit the video like a glove and seemingly complete the task of informing his fans on the fact that Mojah is an artiste of many facets.

“Girl a wine and a cry pon he stick dem / full clip when me touch you pon yuh clip deh / g-string a pop like a plastic yea,” Mojah deejays over the bouncy, hard-hitting dancehall beat.

It’s hard to decide whether fans are upset with the entertainer for the lyrical content, for simply participating in what is considered dancehall music, or a mixture of both. Five years ago, the backpack carrying Rastafarian was performing at Rebel Salute when he lashed out against then newcomers Alkaline and Gage for their vulgar releases aimed at destroying the very fabric of society.

“Write some good song and sing to di nation, and stop defile mi pickney dem a Jamaica,” he said in an interview with The Star following that year’s show. He continued, “Oonu can sing say di woman dem nice, enuh, and sing say yuh want mek love to dem but, come on man, a you bedroom business oonu want bring come a road? Hey, likkle bwoy, behave oonuself!”

Mojah implied that he would have engaged the likes of Luciano, Capleton, Sizzla, and “di whole a di Bobo warrior dem” to provide a public scolding if the young entertainers did not desist. The musical output of both entertainers has remained consistent since then. However, Mojah has seemingly been the only one who has joined the party. Yet, according to Mojah, while chatting with the crew on The Fix, he has always been a dancehall entertainer.

“I’ve been doing dancehall from the day I buss wid the reggae..but them nah ketch pob the radio, them nah pick up,” he said in the recent interview. During the sit-down, Fantan explained that the continent of Africa, as well as other territories, have been rocking with his dancehall hits for years now.

“Me get dancehall songs wa go number 1 rouna Africa before this ago get popular a Jamaica now, and throughout the Caribbean and America,” he explained, while revealing that he has also done soca and techno songs.

The singjay, who is just one year younger than dancehall bad boy Vybz Kartel, hinted that his most recent output is his way of keeping up with his younger fanbase.
“Me young fans dem de de wa hear Fantan same way, after me no get old, me a walk pon tik?” He questioned. He further emphasized that music is music and does not necessarily tie to his religion. This means the entertainer is simply providing what the market is currently craving. “Me know seh a mix-up run roun ya right now, a no like one time. Mix-up that uno wa hear, that uno wa see,” he said.

While addressing the host’s comments about the lovely females showcased in the video, he highlighted that his spiritual and religious beliefs do not exempt him from wanting to enjoying a surplus of females among other ‘worldly’ pleasures.

It’s no surprise that his phone has been blowing up following the release, as members of the Rastafarian community try to get in touch with him. A lengthy audio clip of longtime Rastafarian Mutabaruka chastising the music video has since made its way online.

“Have some artiste wa a try denigrate Bobo House and Rastafari wid dem wol heap a likkle frivolous videos … dem no see nun wrong with it, that’s the problem,” the Cutting Edge host explained. “Me never it woulda reach de so, weh yuh have man wa wrap up dem head and go inna video wid naked woman a flaunt themself over him and him a flaunt himself ova dem.”

One of the soar points for Mutabaruka is the creation of the music video, which he claims will incorrectly serve as a measure of how followers of the faith should behave. “Him can’t take that[Video] off again eno, it gone,” he said.

The popular poet, who traveled the world educating people on his religion’s core concepts, outlined just what is expected from anyone who decided to take up the title of a Rastafarian.

“Is a revolutionary group of one wa suppose to a search fi liberation of African people all over the world. We suppose to a educate, inform, and we suppose to a live certain way that when people see it them can say ‘wait, brethren a survive inna Rome ya man,’” Mutabaruka explained. “We suppose to a take the people out of the quagmire of madness and craziness and now we a go down inna the abyss with dem?.”

Muta joked that Fantan might find himself engaging in self-pleasing acts to the music video when he turns a senior. However, the singjay seems to be focusing on the now and how to please his fresh-faced fans. He told The Fix that his teenage children, who currently reside in America, are the ones who are gravitating towards “Fire King.”

Supporters of Fantan’s latest single have expressed that once he is not portraying violence, then there shouldn’t be any complaint. Others have pointed out that other entertainers who have claimed the Rastafarian faith have released even more controversial tracks in the past.

“So wen Sizzla say big long gun and run out on dem that was conscious song rite? Sizzla also say pump up her p_m p_m to.” One fan emphasized below the official Youtube upload.

“Hin did get burn out for that as well and since then never had the same level of respect…from that time…his musical respect has went downhilll and he basically living off black woman and child music today,” came the response to the reference made against fellow dancehall/reggae entertainer Sizzla.

Fantan Mojah has pledged to continue releasing music to uplift the people but will also be providing new tracks for the younger generation. “Uno no have me inna no box, me wa fi do music.”

Could this mean a downward spiral for Mojah, or will he successfully tap into a younger fanbase?

Pink Sweat$ – Cadillac Drive Lyrics (feat. Price)

[Verse 1 – Pink Sweat$]
Let’s kick back catch a vibe
Let me unwind your mind
Just pretend that tonight, is the rest of our life
Momentary but cool
Feel the vibe between you
Let’s make love just us two
Oh, oh yea

[Chorus – Pink Sweat$]
Cadillac driving no chauffeur
Running my hands all on your curves
Without your gasoline I’d die
Riding through this paradise
Ah, ah

[Verse 2 – Pink Sweat$]
When you touch me girl I come alive
Just say its mine, already know it’s mine
Grown shit, I wanna feel your thighs
Rock with me, Rock with me, Rock with me yea
Slow and steady wanna visualize
All these moments, want em for the rest of my life
Moments add up to time, feel you climb, oh my

[Chorus – Pink Sweat$]
Cadillac driving no chauffeur
Running my hands all on your curves

Without your gasoline, I’d die
Riding through this paradise
Ah, ah

[Verse 3 – Price]
Price
No o chauffeur
I want yo heart but gotta find my soul first
I know all yo hurt, I know all yo pain, I know all yo dirt
Chanel shopping spree? Gucci , Louis V ? I gotta offer more
Salmon over seas, banging in the streets, you’ve seen it all before
I gotta enhance the mood
Switch up the lanes , we mobb
Laying in bed with you, that’s when I became a God
We was up banging Nas
Talking bout Africa trips
The misguided past that we have to forget
Girl we hop in the whip and now we’re just-

[Chorus – Pink Sweat$]
Cadillac driving no chauffeur
Running my hands all on your curves
Without your gasoline I’d die
Riding through this paradise
Ah, ah

Jidenna – Worth the Weight Lyrics

Play this song

[Intro]
People, confusion going on
Why don’t we just learn how to live with one another?
It’s not really impossible, why do we have to make it so hard?
With so much pollution and erasion, why? Why?
If we can learn how to live with one another, then we can learn who is going to take the weight?
Wait, I think that you’ll find it
Wait, wait, I think that you’ll find it
Wait, wait, I think that you’ll find it

[Verse 1]
Yeah, yeah
I go for the record, I don’t just go for the medals, bro
Niggas used to know that we stronger than the devil, bro
Since I buried Papa in the village with the shovel, bro
Every move is bold, ain’t no time for bein’ subtle, bro
In the face of evil, I can find the needle, haystack
Could have freed my people if this weed was legal way back
Popo spun the wheel on misfortune, but I ain’t play that
They come round and pat-pat-pat us down but I ain’t say jack
I escaped the trap, I escaped the cubicles, bro
I escaped the drive by’s, drop the funerals, bro
And I beat the case, and I beat the chase, woah woah
Can I keep the pace? Can I keep the pace ? I’on know
I escaped them tryna bleach a nigga’s brain
Coulda went to Wall Street, instead I built up my own lane
Rather have a street in my own name
Or money with my face on it like I’m Prince Arcane

[Refrain]
You not gon’ see me frowning in these days and times, you see, the days of the Oyinbo man are numbered like football Jerseys
We all know that all of our suffering and smiling has been worth the wait!

[Verse 2]
My nigga, who knew?
Who knew that that boy from Enugu with the booboo on his knee (Knee)
Back then was actin’ like a poodle on a leash (Leash)
One day he’d have to learn the juju on the streets (Streets)
Starin’ at death, like, is your shooters gonna squeeze? (Squeeze)
Freeze, please
As a little boy slanging chains back in Chinatown
Thinkin’ to myself, I’ma build a block at [?] town wit’ my, wit’ my, wealth
And I pray that I’m the brightest sound that you ever felt
I’ma take a million flights around, ’til that shit is felt
That’s that lead the way, ayy
That’s no piece of cake, ayy
That’s that troll online that live inside the tree all day, ayy
That’s that he so gay, ayy
That’s that she so fake, ayy
That’s that insecure, ayy
That’s that Issa Rae, ayy
Hey
You do you, me do me
So long as you don’t fuss wit’ we (We, baby)

[Outro]
I believe it’s time for an African peoples powered highway. A highway that will connect the Diaspora and Motherland. A global highway for African people all over the world to rediscover themselves. To remember that the only thing that unites black people, globally, the only thing we all have in common is that we are from Africa

Poppy – Fashion After All Lyrics

[Verse 1]
I’m working every angle
My lipstick is a staple
My hair and makeup makes you envious and want to die
I’m worthy to some money
I’m saving every penny
I’m in Japan and Africa and I don’t need a guy
My wrists are terrorists
My lips gave you a kiss
My consciousness thinks this is making me feel fabulous

[Pre-Chorus]
Do what I want
Say what I want
Wear what I want
Talk how I want
Walk how I want
Do what I want
Wear what I want

[Chorus]
It’s fashion after all
It’s fashion after all
It’s fashion after all
It’s fashion after all
Fashion after all

[Verse 2]
Give me a second to think
Give me something cold to drink
Give me a reason I should listen to another word
I’m revolutionary
A little bold and scary
I’m making plans to save the world and I don’t need your help
I’m on another level
There’s nothing I can’t handle
I’m watching you watch me the way the devil watches angels

[Pre-Chorus]
Do what I want
Say what I want
Wear what I want
Talk how I want
Walk how I want
Do what I want
Wear what I want

[Chorus]
It’s fashion after all
It’s fashion after all
It’s fashion after all
It’s fashion after all
Fashion after all
(It’s fashion after all
Fashion after all
It’s fashion after all
It’s fashion after all)

Wrapping up 2017 with a growing catalog, Jahmiel delivered a solid body of work, which resulted in him being billed for some upcoming major festivals in Europe and Africa where he will perform for the first time.

The trek will take Jahmiel across some major US cities including Arizona, Kansas City, Oakland, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, Raleigh and Charlotte just to name a few. At the end of the US leg he will have little down time before he packs his bags and heads to Africa for the first time in his career. He has a highly anticipated performance at The Independence Stadium in Bakau, Gambia.

The trip to Gambia, will also give Jahmiel an opportunity to partake in some charitable work as well as connect with some of the youths who his songs has resonate with.

“Definitely pleased at the direction my career is going and the ability to show growth over the past two years. Going to Gambia is definitely something I have been looking forward to since we received the call last year and looking forward to delivering and greeting my fans” Jahmiel told Dancehall HipHop.

On January 13th Jahmiel will perform on the 25th anniversary of Rebel Salute, a show he says that he is looking forward to performing on since this will be the first time he is returning to the annual event since Mavado first introduced him a few years ago. The “Heaven” singer has had a phenomenal year last year with a slew of hits and some well received performances on some big shows. This year, he is certainly looking to repeat that success and broaden his international appeal. Stay tuned for more tour dates to be announced by his team later this month.

We on a new level with the C-notes
I’m from where kids hustled on the block and rolled cee-lo
And niggas stay strapped like Girbauds
T-Nice with me week to week though
Life was different when they got him for that R.I.C.O
For a couple kilos
Coulda had ’em underground, he was livin’ life illegal
Now he gettin’ right and our pockets lookin’ chicho
Sippin’ cappuccino on a jet to Cannes
Couple models gettin’ lit, they the best in France
Got Leonardo dough, catch me if you can
We had to kill Beijing and next Japan, man
This beat hot, I could catch a tan
My demographic in L.A. all Mexican
I love my supporters, they keep the check in hand
So every time I get a chance, I’ma bless the fam
What up, what up?

Brought mama that new house, diamonds and mean pearls
Done went to Africa, talked to the have-nots
Donated some uniforms, teach ’em how to have guap
Primo put the soul in it, I make the track hot
And this thing forever, got the game in a padlock
I just want somethin’ real, I’m tired of the ass shots
Don’t wanna go to the club, I’m tired of them trap spots
My generation’s stuck on stupid
Showin’ guns on the ‘Gram, but no one use it
Sometimes I feel like I’m about to lose it
Because the fake win when y’all know what the truth is

Chronixx Calls For Mavado and Popcaan To Make Peace

Majority of dancehall fans would agree with Chronixx request for Mavado and Popcaan to make peace and work together to push the genre globally.

During his lengthy Instagram Live session last weekend where he spoke with his fans about his new album Chronology, he spoke about the infamous Mavado and Popcaan beef. Chronixx think that if these two dancehall heavy weights unite they can take dancehall music to the next level and I agree with that assessment and so does the vast majority of dancehall fans.

“So we want Popcaan and Mavado to know that them are the artists that… them man there are going to take dancehall to the next level and if them unite it will be like a earthquake,” Chronixx said. “Check the African artists them, they are united and look how Africa big.”

Mavado and Popcaan beef started last summer and dominated dancehall for the rest of 2016 into early 2017. Mavado was named the victor, but Popcaan would soon find himself in another beef with Vado’s close friend Alkaline.

Toto – Africa

I hear the drums echoing tonight
But she hears only whispers of some quiet conversation
She’s coming in 12:30 flight
The moonlit wings reflect the stars that guide me towards salvation
I stopped an old man along the way,
Hoping to find some old forgotten words or ancient melodies
He turned to me as if to say, Hurry boy, It’s waiting there for you

[CHORUS]
It’s gonna take a lot to take me away from you
There’s nothing that a hundred men or more could ever do
I bless the rains down in Africa
Gonna take some time to do the things we never have

The wild dogs cry out in the night
As they grow restless longing for some solitary company
I know that I must do what’s right
As sure as Kilimanjaro rises like Olympus above the Serengeti
I seek to cure what’s deep inside, frightened of this thing that I’ve become

[CHORUS]
It’s gonna take a lot to take me away from you
There’s nothing that a hundred men or more could ever do
I bless the rains down in Africa
Gonna take some time to do the things we never have

(Instrumental break)

Hurry boy, she’s waiting there for you

It’s gonna take a lot to take me away from you
There’s nothing that a hundred men or more could ever do
I bless the rains down in Africa, I bless the rains down in Africa
I bless the rains down in Africa, I bless the rains down in Africa
I bless the rains down in Africa
Gonna take some time to do the things we never have

Thundercat – Walk On By (feat. Kendrick Lamar) (Drunk Album)

[Chorus: Thundercat]
At the end of it all
No one wants to drink alone
Baby that’s how it goes
Don’t walk away from me

[Verse 1: Thundercat]
Fragmented memories
Sentences incomplete
That’s when she said
"Don’t wanna put up a fight anymore
I’m down to the end of my rope
And I’m freefalling
I’ll search inside myself
I need to know why I act this way"
I whispered tunes to her scream
I can’t ignore it no more

[Chorus: Thundercat]
At the end of it all
No one wants to drink alone
Baby that’s how it goes

[Verse 2: Kendrick Lamar]
From my eyewitness binoculars
To Argentina and Africa
We mastered the pressure
Hazardous, harassing us
You laugh at us
More accurate at bagging dimes, now we bagging rhymes
Bodybags, price tags on your fo’head
Nine times out of ten, young niggas are nine or ten
When the line becomes thin: be a killer or fireman
Fill up the lavish pen if I needed to right my wrongs
I can’t deny sin, condolences through these palms
I remember when your cousin was coming home
My bitch, why we plotted to kill him ’cause we ain’t know him
Unfamiliar faces make niggas nervous
Convicted court cases might hit the surface
Restricted territories might come through lurkin’
We ain’t want none of that urgent call
Well, I’ma act Turk and fall on my identity, Percocets
For all the headaches, I’m ’bout to bring confetti
Tumble out this barrel soon as it ring, you ready?
That was the word ‘for we moved on ’em
Treat him like Joe the Plumber
I wonder if someone come and can see this tool on him
Immature and retarded is what you call me
Yo’ cousin wa’n’t comin’ home from the pen but from the army
If I can right my wrongs and pen this verse I read
Even though a bullet hit him in the leg, still walk on by

[Chorus: Thundercat]
At the end of it all
No one wants to drink alone
Baby that’s how it goes
Don’t walk away from me

Big Sean – Inspire Me Lyrics

[Hook]
You do the right thing, you know you inspire me
You do the right thing, you know you inspire me
Can’t go wrong (this one’s for you, you, you)
You do the right thing, you know you inspire me (you, you, you)

[Verse 1]
You tried to keep me away from temptation
Introduced me to The Temptations
Marvin Gaye and Isley Brothers
Dancing so hard the living room shaking
Yeah we dance in the house
My mama’s the man of the house
Mama you too good for them men
Even dad, you too good for him
Mama you know you inspire me
You deserve early retirement
You text me, tell me to take my vitamins
When I got a new love you invite ’em in
When we break up, you don’t like ’em then (no)
Loyal, loyal, swear you super loyal
Worth more to me than striking oil
You deserve the life I’m tryna show ya
I remember all of the sacrifices
Growing up in debt, but never hungry
Rich in everything except money
That’s that faith that you can’t buy
But I buy that new crib, you look right in it
I buy that new car in the color that you like it in
And play my song every single time you drive in it
That’s ’cause you inspired it (yeah)

[Hook]
You do the right thing, you know you inspire me
You do the right thing, you know you inspire me
Can’t go wrong, wrong, wrong
You do the right thing, you know you inspire me

[Verse 2]
I know it’s hard to get me on the line
I’m busy like every other time
Since I got a house in that other town
You wonder when I’ma come around
I know you worry about me
I give you attitude like, “Don’t worry ’bout it”
Don’t hit ya up like I don’t care about you
But I hold you down, I swear I got you
I know I got problems communicating
I probably should’ve went to school
And got that degree in communications
I should be with you on vacation
I should take you where you should be taken
Asia, Africa, Dubai, anything you want, I do buy
Just want you to know I do try
To take care of ya, mama you the one, you the one
You the moon, you the stars, you the sun
I’m so happy I’m your son
I’m so happy I’m your son
You love me since day one
Since before day one
So before the day’s done
I gotta, gotta let you know

[Hook]
You do the right thing, you know you inspire me
You do the right thing, you know you inspire me
Can’t go wrong, wrong, wrong
You do the right thing, you know you inspire me

[Outro]
Look, mama, you know you inspire me
If I ever made you not feel like it, then this is my apology
So sorry, look, dear mama you know your son shine for ya
I’m Sean for ya, my lady
Don’t you ever let ’em talk to you crazy
Anything for the fam, how you raise me
I’m yo baby but you still my baby
Ayy

Mehn, I go take your Iyawo, take her to Guamo
Mehn, I go changey her life, put some owo in her life, ehh

I be making and spending the owo
Mehn, I be balling the owo, balling the owo
Never be saving the owo, I be uploading the owo
Getting the owo, and I go take your Iyawo
Mehn, I go take your Iyawo, take her to Guamo
Mehn, I go changey her life, put some owo in her life, ehh

"Uh-yea!"

[Verse 2: Nasty C]
Goddamn, body smokey
Pass her to me ..
Feel the pest high-top
That’s a fake sassy to me
This’ a different typa party
Book a table for three and buy a mattress for three (book it, Nigga)
You and your girl just came outta the closet
I’m happy for me ..
It’s seven digits on receipts now
The money coming like a breeze now
The money calls me on repeat now
I let the Uber man eavesdrop
I got my riches from Africa
I’m the Coolest Kid in Africa, boy
I’m as humble as an amateur
Get up and pray and get the money afterwards (church)
Pockets never been deeper
Bitches never been shallower
If I throw a couple Geez up
And she’ll prolly let my shadow fuck
And, she’ll do it for a half a nut
She ain’t take it to the reap
I EFT my plug a tip
And he delivers to the crib, yea

[Hook: Davido]
Mi o fe mo n’pa any daddy
I pray to God say I go make am, eehh
She dey feel the bass wey dey make the girls shake am, ehh-eh
If you fuck around, you go make my guys ginger ooh

[Chorus: Davido]
I be making and spending the owo
Mehn, I be balling the owo, balling the owo
Never be saving the owo, I be uploading the owo
Getting the owo, and I go take your Iyawo
Mehn, I go take your Iyawo, take her to Guamo
Mehn, I go changey her life, put some owo in her life, ehh

I be making and spending the owo
Mehn, I be balling the owo, balling the owo
Never be saving the owo, I be uploading the owo
Getting the owo, and I go take your Iyawo
Mehn, I go take your Iyawo, take her to Guamo
Mehn, I go changey her life, put some owo in her life, ehh

[Outro: Davido]
Mi o fe mo n’pa any ..
I pray to God say I go make am
She dey feel the bass wey dey make the girls shake am
If you fuck around, you go make my guys ginger ooh

Leon Russell – Dixie Lullaby

Gather round me people, got a song to sing
About that sweet magnolia thyme
The black eyed Susan made some catfish stew
And papa brought some homemade wine

Now, all the southern children like to rock ‘n’ roll
The TV mamas tell you why
They got it on the boat from Africa
It’s that Dixie lullaby

And blind Willie Time, he had a dime shoe shine
Stand down on Beale Street
And Willie would stop and say "Hello"
To all the shoes he’d meet

"Why are you so happy?" said the clean white buck
"You got no reason to be happy Mr. Time"
But Willie just smiled and he dropped his rag
And sang a Dixie lullaby

Now you heard the story of my southern home
With a honeysuckle wine
Anytime you think that you might come yourself
You ought to keep this thought in mind

All you easy riders better watch your step
If you’re walkin’ down below the line
That Louisiana man is gonna get you, yet
With his Dixie lullaby

He’s got a Dixie lullaby
Ohh, it’s a Dixie lullaby, bye

Horrible Histories – British Things lyrics

[Intro]
I love to be a British queen
I am Victoria, you see
Now where’s my British butler
With my British cup of tea?
Tea is not from Britain, ma’am
From India it was brought
Yes, for your cuppa, thousands died
And many wars were fought

[Chorus]
British things, my British things
It seems that tea is not
British things, my British things
Can I sweeten it a jot?

[Verse 1]
Do tell me sugar’s British though
No, it’s Caribbean imported
For sugar in your cup of tea
Slavery’s been supported
I know it’s wrong, your majesty
But slaves in Africa
Worked hard in fields of sugar cane
To sweeten up your char

[Chorus]
British things, ah British things
I thought that there were many
British things, ah British things

Afraid there’s hardly any

[Verse 2]
You know your British cotton vest
What’s wrong with it?
Explain!
The cotton’s from America
And picked by… slaves again!

[Verse 3]
Your empire’s built on fighting wars
That’s how your income’s swollen
Your British things are from abroad
And most are frankly stolen

[Hook]
Whatever next? Go on! Pray tell!
Our British queen is foreign as well?

[Verse 4]
It’s true, I am of foreign descent
And your husband, Albert? A German gent!
At least I’ve got a British name
Victoria’s Latin… that’s a shame!

[Chorus]
British things, ah British things
There are no, we declare
All our favourite British things
Seem to come from elsewhere!

[Hook]
If you don’t like my new shit you can go back to my old shit
Matter fact y’all haters ain’t gotta jam none of my shit
Y’all haters can eat my whole dick
I don’t do this for y’all
Gotta get this money, gotta get this money mayne
Gotta get this money, gotta get this money mayne
Gotta get this money, gotta get this money mayne
Gotta get this money, gotta get this money mayne

[Verse 1]
Listen, if you were struggling, back in ’97 when I started this
And your ass still struggling in 2016, you hustle is garbage bitch
I can’t stay in the same old place, I gotta keep on movin’
And since the music keep on playing I gotta keep on groovin’
That’s why I keep on winning and these bitch niggas keep on losing
And FYI I’ve been single since 97, that’s why I keep on doin’
They keep on killin’ me but I keep on livin’, that’s what I keep on doing
It’s me against the world like 2Pac Shakur
So anybody can get it, give them 2 shots or more
[?] if you ever wonder why I didn’t ever come around
Cause your moma be like fuck you, nigga we don’t ever want you to come around
And Paris I found out ’bout you when you were damn near grown
I promise these baby momas these days ain’t worth the flesh that they are printed on

[Verse 2]
You can say what you want about me, I don’t mind
Cause I’m a diamond homie, I’ll be damned if I don’t shine
40000 people holdin’ my legs, I’m still gon’ climb
And even though they got their own homie, they still want mine
I heard Z-Ro ain’t this and Z-Ro ain’t that
Z-Ro ain’t havin’ no money and Z-Ro can’t rap
Z-Ro don’t give a damn ‘long as he roll make stacks
His credit card ain’t got a color, how the fuck you love that?
Foreign cars that’s all I’m ridin’
I hear you haters talkin’ funny, that’s why I be smiling, cheese
If money come in two’s then haters come in three’s
But without them there’s no me
I love my haters

[Verse 3]
Grown men gossiping ’bout other grown men
Ain’t that what bitches do? Then y’all niggas ain’t grown men
I hate to say it but I got niggas on my team that be watching my pocket
They don’t put in the work like I put in the work
But they want what I got in my pocket
Y’all can keep on talkin’ cause y’all just talkin’ and that’s a damn shame
Nobody know y’all in home
But I’ll do Africa, they know my damn name
Takin’ over this world with real nigga music, that’s my plan mane
Players do what we wanna do and y’all haters do what y’all can mane

Lecrae & Leon Bridges – On My Own (The Birth Of A Nation The Inspired By Album) letras

[Hook: Leon Bridges]
I’ve come a long way
From a very hard place
It’s been a hard race
But somehow I found my way home
I’ve walked a long road
To where only God knows
But when the trumpet blows you know
I did it all on my own

[Post-Hook]
Oh-oh-oh-oh
Ohhhhhh
Oh-oh-oh-oh
Ohhhhhh
[Verse 1: Lecrae]
I’ve been pushing hard
I’ve been praying harder
Only Heaven can help me
They took my earthly father
Martyred and promised me death then walked me into my grave
I’d rather die a free man then live on Earth a slave
I’m fighting for people they put in chains
They stripped our heritage, they took our names
Put our women to shame
Whipped us and beat us, mislead us but they can’t take our passion
Take my body but my soul won’t fit inside your casket

[Bridge: Leon Bridges]
Forget what I said, forget what I did
I did what I had to do and I’d do it all again
And if you’re going through hell
Keep it going, my baby promise that Heaven is near

[Hook: Leon Bridges]
I’ve come a long way
From a very hard place
It’s been a hard race
But somehow I found my way home
I’ve walked a long road
To where only God knows
But when the trumpet blows you know
I did it all on my own

[Post-Hook]
Oh-oh-oh-oh
Ohhhhhh
Oh-oh-oh-oh
Ohhhhhh

[Verse 2: Lecrae]
Taken from Africa
Treated like animals
Culturally denigrated
Broke up our families
Prison of false religion, the same God you lied on
The same God I rely on, I’ma strive on
Alone just a small tribe
Fought for truth for y’all, died
Martyrs live forever so
Out the depths we all rise
Die for a freedom that I’ll never see
I pray y’all live it to the fullest for my legacy
Let’s go

[Bridge: Leon Bridges]
Forget what I said, forget what I did
I did what I had to do and I’d do it all again
And if you’re going through hell
Keep it going, my baby promise that Heaven is near

[Hook: Leon Bridges]
I’ve come a long way
From a very hard place
It’s been a hard race
But somehow I found my way home
I’ve walked a long road
To where only God knows
But when the trumpet blows you know
I did it all on my own

[Outro]
Oh-oh-oh-oh
Ohhhhhh
I did it all on my own
Oh-oh-oh-oh
Ohhhhhh
I did it all on my own

Jain – Come lyrics

[Jain]
(Black burn, I feel so alone)
Without you boy
Now I’m here
Hanging out in the street
Thinking about reactions over actions
Walking on the sky of my dreams

Come, come, my baby come
I will show you the world
Come, come, my baby come
I will cover your nightmares
Come, come, my baby come
I will love you forever
Come, come, my baby come
I will not let you go

My love, I just feel so lost
Without you boy
I am yours even if time has passed
Take me away
From this impetuous world
Leaving this jail of my mind

Come, come, my baby come
I will show you the world
Come, come, my baby come
I will cover your nightmares
Come, come, my baby come
I will love you forever
Come, come, my baby come
I will not let you go

My soul, my soul is in Africa, with you boy

Come, come, my baby come
I will show you the world
Come, come, my baby come
I will cover your nightmares
Come, come, my baby come
I will love you forever
Come, come, my baby come
I will not let you go

My soul, is in Africa with you boy
Looking at the stars
On this diamond sky
Giving you my heart
So you can keep it on your mind
Floating on your blazing eyes

Come, come, my baby come
I will show you the world
Come, come, my baby come
I will cover your nightmares
Come, come, my baby come
I will love you forever
Come, come, my baby come
I will not let you go
