Putin awarded cosmonaut Prokopyev the title of Hero of Russia

Prokopiev flew into space once in June 2018 and spent 196 days there. He made two spacewalks, where he examined the outer surface of the spacecraft. The awards were also presented to Alexander Skvortsov and Oleg Skripochka

Russian President Vladimir Putin awarded test cosmonaut Sergei Prokopyev the title of Hero of Russia, as well as the honorary title of pilot-cosmonaut of the Russian Federation, the Kremlin press service reports.

“The title of Hero of the Russian Federation and the honorary title” Pilot-Cosmonaut of the Russian Federation ” assigned to Sergei Valerievich Prokopiev. During his first space expedition, he made two spacewalks, including the most complex survey of the outer surface of the ship, which will undoubtedly go down in the history of world astronautics, — said the head of state.

Prokopiev flew into space only once— in June 2018. The total duration of the expedition was 196 days 17 hours and 49 minutes. During this time, the astronaut went into open space twice, where he spent 15 hours and 31 minutes.
