New Zealand Foreign Minister Nanaya Mahuta announced the next sanctions against Russian politicians and the defense sector. The new restrictive measures are directed against 170 members of the Federation Council of Russia and six defense enterprises, “which contributed to the encroachment on the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.”
New Zealand authorities have also stepped up sanctions on more than 400 people who were previously banned from entering the country.
“This will further prevent those we have already sanctioned from operating in New Zealand and prevent New Zealand Zealand to become a financial haven for those who are involved in the illegal actions of Russia,— Mahuta said.
New Zealand has introduced several packages of sanctions against Russia since the end of February. The Russian Foreign Ministry accused New Zealand of following the “Russophobic course” initiated by the “collective West”.
