The State Duma will consider only one personnel issue at an unscheduled plenary meeting on July 15— Denis Manturov's candidacy for the post of Deputy Prime Minister. This was stated by the head of the «Fair Russia— For the truth” Sergei Mironov, reports “RIA Novosti”.
“I think that the personnel issue will be one— this is the vice-premier, combined with the Ministry of Industry and Trade,»,— he answered the question whether it is expected to discuss possible resignations in the Cabinet.
On July 11, the State Duma was urgently returned from vacation for an extraordinary meeting on July 15. The next day, Russian President Vladimir Putin increased the number of deputy prime ministers from 10 to 11. It follows from the decree that the new deputy prime minister will combine this position with the leadership of the Ministry of Industry and Trade. Now the ministry is headed by Denis Manturov.
Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin has already nominated Manturov for a new position.
Earlier on July 12, RBC sources reported that Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov, who oversees space and the defense industry in the government, will leave his post in the near future. According to sources, Borisov may take the position of head of Roskosmos, which is currently held by Dmitry Rogozin.
The last time the Russian president increased the number of deputy prime ministers was in November 2020. Then Alexander Novak, who previously served as Minister of Energy, became Deputy Prime Minister.
