Belarus will send some Ukrainian diplomats and close the Consulate General of Ukraine in Brest, according to a statement by the press secretary of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry Anatoly Glaz, published on the website of the department.

“This step is aimed at stopping the non-diplomatic activities of a number of employees of Ukrainian foreign missions. They are asked to leave our country within 72 hours,— Glaz reported.

He noted that “due to the actual lack of personnel, the Belarusian side also decided to close the Consulate of Ukraine in Brest.”

The Embassy of Ukraine in Minsk will continue to work in the format “one plus four”, that is, the ambassador and four employees, reports the words of the press secretary of BelTA.

As Glaz explained, since 2020, Minsk has recorded “numerous unfriendly actions of Ukraine.” Later, the country “began to interfere directly and indirectly” in the internal affairs of Belarus and “paused contacts between states.”

Also, the authorities of Belarus became aware of the activities of a number of employees of the embassy and consulate general of Ukraine, which are incompatible with diplomatic status, the press secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs claims.
